Chapter 65: Blood-Curdling Sound

"Leonard, Neo and Andrew are coming with me, we are the ones who will approach the warehouse directly. The rest of them will try to clean up the surroundings, and after we approach the warehouse, they will follow us." Light said.

Upon his words, all weapons were checked one by one. Everyone had dozens of ammunition magazines, everyone was ready and complete.

Their bellies were full of food, the fluid in their bodies was enough, and the only thing they had to do was to win this war.

Light and his pursuers started walking slowly, making as little noise as possible. A really big zombie horde surrounded the warehouse.

Maybe two hundred or even three hundred, it was clear that there was a number of them. Nevertheless, it was obviously quite a huge number. One had to be careful.

That’s why Light realised that they couldn’t go quietly to the warehouse, that’s why he had taken a few people after him, the others would attract the zombies to them.

Light’s only hope was that there weren’t too many mutant zombies around, one or two could be dealt with, but the fact that the warehouse was the only place where the group could hide made everything dangerous.

After all, he didn’t want to lose what he had now to save someone else.

The group couldn’t just attack five or more mutant zombies, not when most of them had different weaknesses.

What Light noticed in the castle was that the mutant zombies had a different development. The first and second-tier mutant zombies were like normal zombies, but much stronger. The later tier changed their bodies, intelligence and greed levels, even if slowly.

In short, it activated the function that makes a mutant zombie a mutant zombie. Their mutation was occurring in this cycle. Still, how this mutation worked was a matter of curiosity and mystery.

"BANG!!!"

Suddenly a shot rang out and one of the zombies near the warehouse was shot in the head and fell to the ground, at that moment all attention turned towards the place where the shot came from.

Light realised that the time had come and suddenly started running towards the warehouse with the trio in pursuit. One by one, they managed to stab down the zombies that tried to pass by them, so that there was no monster following them.

After a very short time, they managed to reach the warehouse, knocking again and again on the door, but no answer came to them.

"Help is here!" Light suddenly said, and with that one of the warehouse windows opened.

As soon as one of the young men stuck his head out, he invited Light and the others inside and the group rushed in without waiting.

Those who saw the mask on Light’s head could not help trembling inwardly, yet Light had no evil intentions or endeavours.

"Is this it?" Light suddenly questioned, and the electrical engineer, the leader of the group, stepped forward and nodded.

"Your name?" Light asked.

"Allen." replied the leader of the group.

By the time Light heard this answer, the gunshots from outside were getting louder, everything had to continue quickly.

"Get ready, we’re going to clean up outside, we’ll leave when the number of zombies decreases." Light said, and with that, the gunshots started to get closer and closer, Light’s group was getting closer and closer.

After these words, Light examined each person in the group of forty people one by one with his inspection skill without waiting and surprisingly saw that there was no one with bad intentions in the group.

This was not surprising at all when he thought about it, after all, such a group had managed to live for over five months without any harm to them, and a single malicious person could destroy this order.

They were very lucky.

Allen had confirmed what Light had said without stopping. No one fully trusted Light, but because they could go to a safe place, and they were surrounded by hundreds of zombies, they had no choice but to trust him.

"Where are we going?" Allen asked with curiosity.

Hearing this, Light turned towards him and then said, "To your new home. To my land." he replied.

However, the sounds of gunfire had now reached the bottom of the warehouse, Light threw his hand into his inventory without waiting and then pulled out an AK-105.

Even though those around were surprised by this sight, Light jumped out of the window without waiting and shouted "FREE FIRE!!!".

This meant that everyone had to unload their bullet magazines on the zombies like a brawl.

"BANG!!!"

"SQUELCH!!!"

One after another, the sound of gunfire rose into the sky and the sound of bullets hitting large zombie bodies reached the ears.

The sight of rotten flesh and putrefied blood falling on the pure white snow, and the disgusting sound of this disgusting sound coming to the ears over the sound of bullets being fired, was incredibly repulsive and nauseating.

Nevertheless, it was the sound of victory.

Of course, not everything could go as expected, life was not all rosy.

"Hhhhhuuuuuuu....Hhhhuuuuuuuuuuu!!!"

A deep sarcastic and blood-curdling voice, this time not in the sky, but directly into the soul of the whole group, Light was officially left where he was like everyone else.

The zombie’s voice and breath stuck in his throat, sending a dry and sarcastic voice towards them.

It was a mutant zombie, and it was scarier than any mutant zombie Light had ever encountered.

The gunfire suddenly stopped, and it was not only the members of the group who were frozen with fear. Every one of the hundred or so zombies that had been left standing around was frozen an unbelievably astonishing sight.

Neither Light nor anyone else had ever seen anything like it. A zombie he had not yet seen was enough to make him and everyone else tremble so much.

This was the frightening truth of the mutation and the virus.
