Chapter 62: Knighton Railway Station

Chapter 62: Knighton Railway Station

Knighton railway station. The epicentre of the danger that was growing right under James’ nose. This danger came from mutation. This area was filled with an incredible number of mutant zombies, yet almost forty sane people were waiting in the area right at the railway station.

Although they were ordinary people, they had managed to kill three mutant zombies. If Light managed to save these people, he would get a huge power boost.

These people included engineers, plumbers, electrical experts, doctors, cooks and many more.

However, Light had no idea what was going on here.

"HOLD THE DOOR!!!" shouted a young man.

There were four people in front of the door and they were trying to stop the mutant zombie trying to enter the warehouse.

They had been trying for a long time to protect nearly forty people inside the warehouse. The average age of these people was almost thirty, which meant that many men and women could fight.

Being in the warehouse of a railway station gave them a huge stock of food and, oddly enough, there were many generators in the warehouse.

That was the reason why these people had heat so far. One of the electrical engineers in the group tried to directly energise the generators with human power and succeeded.

This caused the entire warehouse to heat up.

And this made it possible to grow plants inside.

In this way, all these people were able to build this system that allowed them to survive for more than five months in and around the warehouse.

Now they were busy dealing with the biggest challenge they had faced in five months.

They had managed to kill three mutant zombies, yes, but they had managed to do it about half a kilometre away from the railway station. That was close to Light’s house.

The plot of land that Light had bought was exactly 10 kilometres away, making him the owner of a really big plot of land.

The fact that there were 5 of these walls and electric fences, 1 kilometre apart, meant that five of the 10 kilometres were used for security.

This meant that even though the area was partially remote, Knigton was quite close, which meant that the people staying in Knigton were incredibly close to Light.

"WE MUST TRY TO STRAIN THE ZOMBIE!!!" shouted an old man in the group.

However, before he even had to say anything, six young men were already approaching the windows of the warehouse at a fast pace.

Looking out of the window, only the mutant zombie was seen outside. The mutant zombie was wounded, its neck was covered in blood, and this made everything easier because if such a sea of blood was falling from this mutant zombie, it would be possible to kill it.

Immediately, the young men armed themselves with their handmade electric spears. It suited everyone that there was an electrical engineer in the group.

The young men opened the windows and jumped out, and each of them did not hesitate for a second, even if their own lives might be snuffed out.

Suddenly, one of the young men thrust a battery-powered electric spear right into the mutant zombie’s leg, and a sudden shout went up to the sky:

"AAAAARRRGGHHHH!!!"

It was incredibly good that this mutant zombie could take physical damage, otherwise death would have been inevitable.

The youth who had stabbed the spear was slightly frightened when he realised that the spear had not come back to him. This was because the mutant zombie had already turned on him, the spear had slipped from his hand and the mutant zombie was now focused on the young man instead of the door of the warehouse.

Just then, two of the other six youths simultaneously thrust their spears right into the back of the mutant zombie.

"UUUARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!"

The mutant zombie shouted once more and its disgusting voice disappeared into the falling snow and the snow that had already fallen.

The youths realised that they could win, after all, this was how they had killed the previous three mutant zombies.

After one spear thrust after another, the unexpected happened. The mutant zombie somehow managed to swing its arm and grabbed one of the youths right in the centre of his body.

Cracking sounds were coming from the young man’s body.

At that moment, one of the youths who had jumped out of the window stabbed the spear directly into the eye of the mutant zombie on his knees and without waiting, he discharged the electrical energy charged in the battery into the mutant zombie.

Because of the electric current, the hand of the mutant zombie was suddenly released and everything was over when the young man holding it in his palm fell to the ground and was removed from there.

The mutant zombie was officially cooked with its rotten flesh where it was.

The young man who had fallen to the ground was suddenly pushed into the warehouse and one of the two doctors in the group suddenly approached the young man and, without waiting, removed his thick clothes as quickly as possible.

It suddenly occurred to the doctor that the young man might have a fractured rib cage, and after a brief check, his concern proved to be correct.

"You will recover...It will take a long time though, it looks like two of your ribs are fractured, you should stay still except for special needs. Maybe after four or six weeks, you will be fully recovered."

When the doctor uttered these words, it was as if the breathing sounds of every group member around were heard. There was not a single bad person in the group, it was really difficult to find such peaceful and cohesive people in such dark times.

They had managed to survive and had managed to kill four mutant zombies as of now.

If Light somehow managed to recruit this group, there would be almost no limit to what he could do now.

However, the danger hadn’t even started yet.
