Chapter 51: Life And Death Fight (1)

"You can eat as much as you want, get your energy up, we’ll leave as soon as the zombies are distracted." After a short meeting, Light showered each member of the group with precious meats, sauces, drinks, and all other snacks that he could no longer find.

Light wanted to try to keep everyone alive, in short, distributing all this food to the group would be a benefit to his pocket, not a loss.

The meeting discussed what tactic they would use.

If they could somehow reach the upper part of the castle, that is, if they could leave the castle building and go to the castle walls, they would have a huge advantage. After all, Light could completely seal both the lower and upper entrances to the castle walls.

This meant that they could kill the zombies from the top of the walls, they just needed a little rest and time to recover.

"Yes, sir!"

With a single command, the group began to consume the food in front of them. Each of them seemed to be really focused on consuming everything as if there was no tomorrow.

It was quite normal for them to act as if they had no tomorrow, after all, they almost died just today, they survived thanks to Charles’ desire to enter the "castle building".

Every single space inside the castle building was sealed. Windows, doors, chimneys and even rat holes were sealed. Light really didn’t want any danger to enter.

The fact that it was already evening made the zombies unbelievably quiet for some reason. Light remembered the time before he woke up. The zombies were more aggressive in the evening or dark places, and the mutants, on the contrary, were more aggressive when it was light and the sun shone on the surface better.

Of course, when mutants were disturbed, time did not work very well for them.

Considering that mutants evolve with the energy from the red sun and zombies evolve with the virus itself, this event becomes quite logical. Of course, this was nothing more than a human theory.

Nevertheless, it was an incredibly frightening situation that all zombies became silent except for a few mutants seen in the evening and Light’s eyes.

It was as if all the zombies were like a ticking time bomb waiting for the whole group.

Nevertheless, every group member, including Light, knew that at least today they would be able to get a good night’s sleep.

"Is everyone ready?" Light looked back at the group and noticed that everyone was nodding. At the dawn of the day, each of them was ready to go to the walls of the castle, almost 300 metres from the castle walls.

It didn’t seem like a great distance, but with the weight on the group, the fear in their bodies, and the hundreds of zombies that would probably be chasing them outside, it was a huge distance.

Nevertheless, each group member was ready. Elise had given Light her most trusted and best shooting members, and Light had four mercenaries. The chances of them surviving were very high.

As soon as Light saw the nods of each member, he lifted the crates in front of the door and calmly opened the door. The sight before them was chilling.

There were zombies all over the area, Light could see the mutants among them, but that was not what was creepy.

Every zombie in the area seemed to be asleep, each one literally curled up from the waist down and just waiting, as if there were no muscle cells at all.

Indeed, every member of the group could not help trembling. At that moment, Light turned to the group, took his index finger to the tip of his mask and ordered everyone to be quiet.

Steps began to be taken. The group members passing through the sleeping zombies were really shaking as if someone was going to jump on them at any moment.

It was normal for them to be scared.

Light could understand this very clearly because his heart seemed to be beating at 300 beats per minute. It was impossible to explain what he saw with his eyes. A stage 4 mutant zombie with tentacles, a stage 4 mutant zombie with incredibly long claws, and dozens of other disgusting things.

The 20 or so mutant zombies that attacked them yesterday were also standing in the area, some of the zombies were making thin and disgusting sounds, while others were making sounds like they were gnawing on bones.

"Creeeeak....Pop! Pop!" The zombies sounded as if they were crunching bones and the bones were breaking where they were connected.

Nevertheless, amid all these horrible events, the group was quietly moving towards the entrance of the castle walls. They had managed to cover more than half of the way, but at that very moment, something undesirable happened:

"HELP ME!!!"

The female voice heard yesterday was heard again. This time it was more aggressive and frantic, as if she wasn’t saying that she was helping to get rid of the zombies, but rather she was using this help to give orders to the zombies.

The whole group froze because something had happened that not a single one of them would have wanted.

The sounds of bones clanking, hissing, groaning, and more seemed to rise from the area.

At that moment, Light silently pointed to the castle walls and started running. As if each member of the group realised what was happening, they instantly woke up to Light’s signal and started running.

"RKYAAAA!!!"

One of the mutant zombies suddenly shouted deafeningly, but this shout was ineffective. The adrenaline in the group’s bodies was so high that each of them didn’t even bother to think about the pain in their ears and kept running.

The castle walls were very close, it would not be difficult for them to escape from this group of more than a hundred or even hundreds of zombies chasing them, they just had to run without thinking.

Everything was really blood-curdling.
