A Regressor's Guide to the Frozen Apocalypse -
Chapter 44: Big Trade
Chapter 44: Big Trade
"I’m going to ask you to find out two pieces of information, the first one is quite simple and I think you can find it with a little research, but I think the second request will challenge you, even if I don’t know your capacity."
Light’s words seemed to make Elise curious. Elise, who sat in the chair opposite her, smiled and took out a cigarette from her pocket, lit the cigarette and took a puff, then continued her speech:
"Puff....So please tell us so we can tell you if we can do it."
These words gave Light a great deal of confidence, but the question was whether she could be trusted, which was why he used his skill, of inspection, once more:
[Elise Roan
Age:32
Nature: Angel]
Light saw that the woman’s disposition and nature were just like Pacifica’s, and his interest in her seemed to increase immediately. After calmly straightening himself on the sofa, he calmly began to talk about his first request:
"My group and I are trying to search for areas where there are many zombies. I’d like you to mark them on the map and bring them to me, and I’d also like you to sort out the areas where there are fewer zombies than in other areas, etc. What do you think, can you do that?"
Elise took another drag from her cigarette after this request, or rather after all these things gathered under one main request, and then continued to speak:
"This is a difficult and dangerous thing, Mr Arah. I have almost 200 people under my command and it is already difficult to take care of them all. In return for your offer, we will ask you for a large amount of food and drink, and cash, even in such a disgusting state, cash is useful. Money is burnable and lasts a long time."
When Light heard these words, he said, "If you tell me how much food and drink you want, I can tell you if I can help you." These words alone were enough to excite Elise.
"To tell you a lie, I feel like I’m going to lose a lot if I make a low offer and I want to create a bond of trust with you, so please tell me how much you can give."
After Elise’s words, Light couldn’t help but smile, admiring the intelligence of the middle-aged woman in front of him.
Elise had seen Light’s power with the help of a camera and tried to understand what was going on, even now she was in a very strange situation and did not know what to say.
That’s why he would rather leave it to her and gain her trust than make an offer to a person whose power he didn’t know the limits of.
"Then....you...Well, I’ve made up my mind. Then I’ll give you almost 50 days’ rations for three meals for 200 people, and I’ll give you 12 live cows, and what you do with them is up to you. This trade prize includes my second offer too."
Hearing this offer, the cigarette in Elise’s hand suddenly split in half, as if she could not believe what she was hearing. She couldn’t quite figure out what was going on and was shaking her head left and right.
"YES, OF COURSE, YES!"
Elise suddenly stood up, grabbed Light by the hand and shouted. With this offer, they would not only gain food stocks but also live animals.
Living animals were perhaps the most valuable things in this apocalypse, many animals that could not withstand the cold died and the living ones were buried who knows where.
Creatures that could produce milk, reproduce and be food were incredibly rare. Even if Light didn’t know, with only one or two mating cows, he could buy the building he was in now with all its guards.
This showed Elise that not only she but also Light wanted to enter into a trusting relationship.
"Then my second request. I’m looking for three people, someone who is rumoured to be wanted in Birmingham. The last I heard was that they were travelling to Manchester. What I want to ask is the locations of the people they are meeting with."
Elise just looked at him when Light expressed this request and then said, "I know who you are talking about, they are wanted not only here but in other cities and even in London, which has become incredibly dangerous. We have a list, but you’ll waste your time, we haven’t found anything."
Light shook his head after what he heard and chose to believe the words of this woman he wanted to trust, he decided that it would be better to buy the information for sure instead of talking to these people.
"Very well, have it your way, then if you’ll excuse me, I don’t even know where my room is," Light said, preparing to stand up but was gently stopped by Elise.
Elise snapped her fingers at that moment and a woman entered. The woman had champagne and two glasses in her hand, she put the open champagne on the table with the glasses and then left the room.
"Please allow me to accompany you for a few drinks," Elise said as Light tried to understand what was going on, and gently filled the glasses with ice-cold wine.
Without question, Light took off his mask so that only his mouth was visible and took a sip of wine.
"So you are a human," Elise said in a giggling tone, referring to Light’s powers.
Light couldn’t hold himself back after this question and laughed softly, "What did you expect? Many other people in this shitty world have such abilities besides me, who knows, maybe even you in the future."
With these words, Elise looked at the wine they were drinking and asked, "I may have poisoned you and even used a drug that could make you faint, I’ve only met you for maybe 20-30 minutes, why do you trust me so much?"
Light, after hearing these words, said in a normal voice, "We are both traders, Elise, trust is a mutual thing. The information I buy from you and the perhaps life-saving supplies you get from me in return. Which can you refuse?"
This could be considered the essence of a merchant. After all, Light did not fully trust anyone outside his family, no matter how special their nature was, this would remain an unchanging thing, but it was still true that if he wanted to be a merchant, there had to be a few people he had to try to trust.
Just like Elise.
