Chapter 89: FUTURE PLANS
Chapter 89: Chapter 89: FUTURE PLANS
People were quite familiar with Whitey, whom she had started showing a few months ago. Having a cat or a dog as a pet was understandable, though it was known as an expensive hobby to have. But keeping reptiles and snakes mostly was unheard of.
She was someone who had people’s tongues wagging already and didn’t want to cause more chaos.
So, by the time Susan and her mother reached her, Blackey was docile and dormant on her wrist as if he was dead.
’What a well-behaved son!’ she internally praised as she rubbed the spot where she was.
"Good morning, Auntie! How are you feeling?" feeling a bit excited and in a very good mood, Calista greeted Ma Susan, who was busy scanning her from head to toe with a foolish grin on her face.
Reaching her hands towards Calista, Ma Susan asked Calista, "Dear, how are you feeling? Did you sleep well? You don’t feel any other symptoms?" her tone laced with anxiety and worry, and that foolish grin got thrown away.
Calista looked helplessly at the woman who was more of a mother to her than anyone else in this world and said with a light chuckle, "Auntie, I am feeling fine. And no, I haven’t felt anything yet."
"No dizziness again?"
"No. the spells didn’t come again!" she answered truthfully.
It was as if the dizzy spells tormented her so that the truth about her pregnancy would be out in the open. Ever since the news was told to her, she didn’t feel any dizzy at all. Even when she was on the road. It was as if the ailment didn’t exist in the first place, which was quite mysterious and, at the same time, understandable as well.
When Ma Susan heard that, she heaved a sigh of relief as she patted her hands repeatedly, joy writing all over her face.
She could tell at this stage that Susan had informed her mother, or maybe her family, about her pregnancy. Something that she didn’t object to. She just couldn’t cover the sky with one hand and keep such a huge secret from them.
They were her family, so she didn’t mind.
’That’s good. That’s good. Haha, those people .... Haha. Dear, I can’t wait to hold my grandchild in my arms!" laughing hysterically, tears pooling in her eyes, Ma Susan said.
Hearing her words, Calista felt emotional as well. ma Susan didn’t need to say anything as Calista understood what the other was saying with just her words.
She also couldn’t wait for the day her baby was born into this world.
"You have to wait for a few months and soon you will be holding her!" with a smile on her face, Calista assured the old lady.
Ma Susan broke into another foolish grin, loving what she was hearing.
After a small chat with Ma Susan, Calista turned her attention to Susan and the two friends chatted a bit.
"You don’t have to move a muscle. We brought some food and more will come at lunch. We will help you with the packing and whatever needs to be done!" while pushing Calista to the side, Ma Susan sternly spoke, her tone leaving no room for Calista to refuse.
Hearing Ma Susan’s words being too similar to Susan’s, she gave up instantly and decided to let herself rest.
Moments later, she was sitting in the gazebo, with the heater providing some heat and a huge bowl of porridge with other side dishes in front of her.
The two didn’t want her anywhere near the kitchen and pushed her to the gazebo to have her breakfast, something she complied with eagerly. At least, she didn’t need to suffer to move those things.
There was no need to stress over the furniture, actually. It was going to be taken to the restaurant later. The restaurant was completed a day after she left for Silverbroke town, and she got the news from Frank.
In the past few days, the floors were getting dry, and the restaurant getting cleaned and getting aired out. But now the restaurant could be used. However, before doing that, she still needed to transfer all the furniture there but keep the other things at the house for future use.
As she ate, in her head, Calista came up with several designs on how to decorate her restaurant. By the time she came up with one satisfactory design, the food was all gone and the two ladies were done.
Frank and Tim came to the hill and began to load the cart with the furniture. When they were done, Susan came to call Calista and the four of them descended the hill, leaving Ma Susan to deal with a few things.
As for Blackey, the snake was no longer on her but left to play with Whitey once she was at the gazebo with no one in sight to watch her.
Being on board the ox-cart was something that she didn’t want to do at all, so she and Susan walked all the way to the restaurant and on their way, they talked about the future.
"Just because I am pregnant doesn’t mean that I won’t be going ahead with the plans I made in the past. I might reduce the load but won’t give it up completely," Calista told Susan as they walked slowly and carefully to the restaurant.
Although things had gone unexpected, which was still good in the end, Calista wasn’t going to stop working towards her project because of that. She was definitely not the first woman to ever get pregnant.
She had seen a lot of women waking up so early every day in the morning, do house chores, and then go to the farm and spend the whole day there. Women in their villages were like that and they never suffered a loss.
Although she wasn’t as fragile as what these people think of her, she wouldn’t dare act like most of these women. There was definitely no need to torture herself like that. at the same time, just because she was pregnant didn’t mean that she needed to act spoiled and not fulfil the promises she made.
With a baby on the way, her expenses were going to increase. So, the sooner she starts the business, the better it will be for her.
At the same time, if she were to be selfish and put everything on halt, how many people was she going to disappoint just because she got knocked up?
That was why she and Susan were discussing this issue. Reassure her friend of the plans they have made and keep on working towards the goals she had set.
With some work to do, she wouldn’t have time to think too much. Especially about her husband, whom she didn’t know if he would be coming back or not.
Keep her mind occupied, make the villagers happy and above all, make herself happy.
After all, before everyone else, she needed to be happy first.
