Chapter 86: PREGNANT!
Chapter 86: Chapter 86: PREGNANT!
For a pregnant woman, thinking too much and being overwhelmed by emotions was very deadly. He was thankful that the pregnancy was steady despite being in the early stages. It’s just that the mother was overworked and she was currently sleeping right now.
It was as if her body had sent itself into a shutdown, giving her body the well-needed rest, it needed.
Susan and Faith didn’t react for a long time.
The words, pregnant and depression kept on ringing in their heads that they felt everything was just unreal. What were their ears hearing right now?
However, when the doctor said, "She doesn’t need any medicine. Just keep her occupied and happy for the meantime. That will deal with the current ailment," the two finally returned to reality and suddenly screamed at the same time, joy spreading across their faces.
"You two .... Quiet!" the doctor suddenly shooshed the two ladies angrily, who were making noise for the sleeping mother. "Are you trying to disturb her rest now?"
Susan looked at the doctor, grinning sheepishly, the joy in her eyes saying it all.
Doctor Jill, seeing the ladies’ reactions, no longer had any energy to scold the two and began to give them a long speech on what they should and shouldn’t do. After making sure that they got it, he left the shop with a pouch of money, which he didn’t think he deserved in the first place.
After all, apart from diagnosing what was wrong with the patient, he didn’t even prescribe any medicine. Nevertheless, under the intense and imploring gaze of the two ladies, he still accepted the money and, as he returned to his clinic, he couldn’t help but praise the ladies for being too rich.
The money he made in such a short time couldn’t be compared to the money he earned in a day after seeing many patients.
Thinking about how those two cried with joy as if they were the ones carrying the child, a smile appeared on his face.
Everyone had their issues, and he could tell that there were hidden issues. He wasn’t overly curious, but he was happy to be the one who passed such a good piece of news to the ladies. And thinking of the time when the mother would hear the news as well, his smile widened.
At this moment, the doctor didn’t know that back in the shop, the mother he was thinking about was currently feeling helpless and in a tricky situation.
"Is this really needed? It’s not I am dying, right? Although I was unconscious, I could hear everything!" Calista asked, at a loss for words, seeing how her friends were currently treating her as if she were some kind of porcelain doll.
Susan and Faith, however, glared at her, making Calista shrink her neck, as she could sense that these two were definitely not in the mood to tolerate her at the moment.
"Don’t even dare think of doing anything. How can you refute and reject our love and concern for you?"
"That’s true. You don’t know how scary it was when you fainted. You are now a mother, Calista. You are pregnant and if you had fainted by yourself and something happened either to you or the baby, can you even think of the dire consequences?"
"You have been looking forward to the baby for years. Don’t tell me that you have forgotten that?"
"Now that we know, don’t even think of running around aimlessly. Behave and sit there obediently. I will get some nutritious food for you and tonight, you will sleep at my house. We will go to the clinic again tomorrow to be sure, and you return home with a carriage."
Susan, on the other side, nodded her head, agreeing with everything Faith was saying.
Knowing Calista’s discomfort with the oxcart, Susan didn’t refute Faith’s instructions. If something were to happen because of the humps and Calista lost her child, she didn’t even want to think about it.
Being too cautious now was the only way to go. This was a child that Calista had been waiting for years. Now, knowing that Calista conceived, she was very happy for her. Now her friend could carry a child of her own.
Just thinking of how many cheeks would be swollen once the news of her pregnancy was revealed, Susan was already thinking of finding more melons to eat when that time came.
On the other hand, after being chided repeatedly and reminded of the situation she was in, Calista finally went quiet.
It still felt surreal. She was pregnant. She was carrying her husband’s blood and flesh. She was finally going to be a mother.
After years of being ridiculed, Calista was going to have her own child. And prove to everyone that she wasn’t a hen which can’t lie eggs. She had just met the wrong rooster. At least back then, she loved the rooster so much, so it never bothered her.
However, as years trickled by, she who was alone in this world, couldn’t help but feel envy towards those with their own families. Growing old alone, without anyone by her side, it felt sad.
This was why, despite knowing how immoral and despicable it was to force the amnesiac Orson into marriage, she still went ahead and did it.
For the sake of having a child and one with good genes, since she liked Orson’s appearance at first glance, she still went ahead and did it.
Even if she were to go back to the past, she would still do it. That’s how determined she was about this issue. And it seemed that her despicable means had worked. She conceived and from what the doctor had said, the baby should have been conceived around the time when the construction started.
It would be better if Orson was here to hear the news, but then would he love the news and celebrate with her? Or would he be disgusted?
Her husband was hard to understand. She sighed ruefully.
