Chapter 85: Chapter 85: ITS QUITE SERIOUS!
At this time, several customers stood in the shop looking anxiously towards where Faith was going. Rather than leaving, these ladies didn’t leave. Although they loved drama, this time they didn’t leave because of that.
They were all acquaintances with Faith and Calista. Especially Calista, whose mouth was capable of making people angry and laugh at the same time. Who didn’t know this cheerful lady who lived her life in a way which left others envious?
To think that a person who was laughing and joking a while ago was now unconscious, how could they just leave with their heavy hearts?
fortunately, Faith wasn’t in the mood for anything else as her mind was occupied with Calista, so she left the curious customers behind and brought the doctor to Calista.
Inside the office, Susan sat anxiously as she held Calista’s hand, silently praying for Calista to get better. She didn’t know what ailment she had got, but whatever it was, she prayed earnestly that it wouldn’t be so harsh and take her only friend away from her.
Calista had suffered so much for her to suddenly die when things were getting better for her.
When the doctor arrived, Susan hurriedly stood up, giving way to the doctor to do his job.
The doctor didn’t waste time and hurriedly crouched near Calista, took her hand in his and started diagnosing.
The man could be seen furrowing and making several expressions which made the ladies’ hearts collapse, thinking of the worst as they saw that.
After checking for a while, the doctor rose to his feet, looked at the two and asked, his tone solemn, making the two fearful.
"Tell me what has been happening to her in the past week. The more details, the better!"
Upon hearing that, Faith’s gaze shifted to Susan. Susan was the one who had been with Calista the most, so she knew a lot compared to her.
With all eyes on her, Susan didn’t hesitate but blurted everything that she knew and had heard from Calista. Keeping things from the doctor was never a good thing. There were several cases of misdiagnosis which led to many deaths.
Not that they could blame the doctors in such a situation.
"She has been having dizzy spells lately. From what I have seen, it’s been going on for more than a week. She has been sleeping a lot. She naps a lot, but this time it’s a bit serious. And not only that, Calista has been eating. She loves food, but she is getting hungry easily and frequently. It’s getting worrisome. She gets easily offended nowadays, which is why she has been keeping to herself lately. I think that she might be depressed. Her husband has been away for ten days. I think she misses him a lot and is a bit depressed. Doctor, what’s wrong with her? Will she be fine?"
With so many symptoms being told to him, the doctor’s serious expression suddenly turned soft as relief washed over him.
"If it is as you said, then I can tell you that her illness is quite serious and if left unattended, then serious damage will happen!" the doctor stated seriously as he looked at the two ladies with narrowed eyes.
As women, how could they not even see such a thing? The more he thought about it, the angrier he became and, for a moment, he wanted to make things difficult for the two blind women.
When the two heard that, they both stumbled backwards, dizzy spells visiting them and their mouths were open, with no words coming out.
In this era, having a serious illness meant a few things. One a person needed to live a life where she or he would be bottoming every single coin the family had worked for to remain alive. Or, there won’t be much time before people would be mourning.
There were many cases of illnesses that could be cured. They weren’t that advanced to have all medicines and cures for every sickness out there. Thinking of the worst, the two didn’t know how to react and the doctor, seeing their reactions, sighed helplessly.
What kind of weak-hearted people were these? He couldn’t help but click his tongue in frustration.
"Don’t act as if she is dying. Aren’t you afraid of her scolding you once she is awake?" the doctor chided the two ladies, who seemed as if they would faint at any moment with how they looked.
When the two heard that, they suddenly jolted back to reality, steadying themselves as their eyes flashed with hope as they looked at the doctor.
"Doctor, will she be okay? What’s wrong with her? Can it be treated? When will she wake up?" throwing numerous questions at him, Faith went all in.
Doctor Jill massaged his temples as he felt his head spinning from so many questions and how clueless these two were.
Anyway, it couldn’t be blamed, he thought as his gaze shifted to the lady sleeping currently.
"There isn’t much to worry about. However, as I said, it’s quite serious but not to the extent of what you are thinking!" he said helplessly as he hoped that his words would calm the two down, after all, he couldn’t tell them what was wrong with her before they were in a calm state.
Surely, after hearing the doctor’s words, the two ladies calmed down and started thinking rationally.
"So, what’s wrong with her?" Faith asked calmly, though her palms were sweating buckets.
Seeing that they were now rational, doctor Jill finally broke the news that he had been itching to tell these two if it weren’t for their blindness in the first place.
"Your friend here is ... anyway, slight depression caused her current state. However, that isn’t the total case as she is currently pregnant. She is six weeks pregnant, and it seems that all of you probably herself as well had no clue." the doctor delivered the diagnosis with a helpless sigh.
In his mind not know whether to beat the friends or the clueless first mother for being a bit reckless.
