Chapter 73: Chapter 73: MOTHER WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?

Remaining behind, the four looked at each other, worry and despair visible in their eyes.

The two sons, seeing their mother and sister sitting on the ground, showing such an embarrassing state, didn’t dare feel disgusted but fear instead.

While these two had faced the woman head-on, they had been so cowardly that they remained hidden. If it wasn’t for Calista to expose them back then, they wouldn’t have appeared.

So, with grim expressions on their faces, they both helped the two ladies from the ground and no one said a single thing.

Embarrassed with their current situation, Mary and Benita went to clean up first and changed their clothes before meeting with the two males who were currently at home.

Thankfully, as they looked at each other, the outsiders, the wives, weren’t at home, so they didn’t get to see this side of theirs.

After sitting down, Mary knew that there was no way she was going to escape from giving her children answers. It seemed that Calista came very determined and as much as she wanted to hate the other; she knew that Calista had a point.

But so what if she knew? It wasn’t like she would manage to stop her daughter from acting against Calista.

Whatever her daughter wished for, she had tried her best to give. So why not let her do so to vent her anger at her?

However, at some point, she had forgotten that the person she was dealing with wasn’t a normal person, and after not seeing Calista for years, she gradually forgot how crazy a person could be.

"Huh," sighing as she looked at her children, Mary opened her mouth and said, her expression a bit solemn, "just go ahead and ask. We have reached this point already!"

Benita looked at her mother dejectedly. Her fists were clenched, her teeth gritted and her thoughts juggled. Seeing her mother looking solemn and defeated like that, she knew that whatever that vixen was holding against her mother wasn’t something good.

And piecing together the puzzles that Calista had been dropping throughout the one-sided confrontation, Benita had an inkling that they were also in deep trouble. However, despite her fear of knowing what was happening, she needed to know. Otherwise, who knows what that woman might do with the information that was in her hands?

"Mother, tell us. What was she talking about? What is happening? Who is she? In fact, what kind of being is she? Did father know?" not afraid of bearing the brunt of asking, Benita went ahead and became the first to ask.

Mary looked at her sons, the children she was very proud of and turned to her daughter. The only daughter she managed to conceive and spoiled to pieces with worry.

Her sons were good-natured and barely caused trouble, but this daughter of hers. She had loved trouble from when she was a child. At least when her husband was still alive, he could rein her in, but now, it was impossible.

It got worse when she went to the city where she returned to being hot-headed and outspoken. Unfortunately, the person she targeted was the wrong one.

With one move, Calista managed to reveal deep secrets of hers she thought she would carry to the grave. But she just had to mock her and reveal the deadly secrets in public. Now she had no choice but to spill the beans!

Mary sighed, not knowing how to start exactly. However, she understood one thing perfectly. No matter how long she dragged the story, she would have to answer her kids. So, after a short deliberation, she opened her mouth and started confessing.

"Calista, she .... She is not a simple character. She is someone who we can’t offend. That’s why I always reminded you before, but because I didn’t explain why we need to be careful, you ended up doing that, anyway. Not that I am blaming you. I understand why you did it in the first place."

"Unfortunately, my children. This time, if we make another mistake, it won’t be that hard for us to disappear into this world. As you saw, she is not a normal being. You can call her any name you want, but one thing I know for certain, she isn’t as evil as you think. I am not speaking for her, but I am just saying it as it is. I am someone she shared a husband with for five years, so I understand her better than any of you."

"Back then, when your father fell for her, I was very furious. I didn’t want to see such a thing happening, especially when I had kids to take care of. Who knows where that little vixen came from? I really fought against that marriage, but everything cooled down when she caught my secret. A secret I never thought I would find myself sharing one day!" thinking about the secret she was about to tell her kids; Mary felt her head throbbing.

Was it really okay if she told them? What if there are consequences for telling them?

What if they no longer loved her?

Her worries were not something to be taken lightly. However, when she recalled how Calista had promised that one day if she was pissed, she would share the secrets with the elders. The risk of losing everything she had worked hard for, was more than anything else.

"Mother, just tell us. We won’t judge you!" and as Mary contemplated, her other son said softly, reassuring her and lessening her worries.

"Ahhh! Since you want to know, I will say it. However, I hope that before you judge me, please understand me and why I did it!" that was the only thing that she could ask for, from her children.

"Be rest assured, mother. We will do that!"

But was that really the case?

Especially when Mary blurted the first sentence of her confession, "Your father .... Um ... he is not your father!"

The world just went dark for the kids. ’What the heck?’
