Chapter 68: Chapter 68: UNTITLED
When they left the workshop, Calista and Orson both walked on foot back to the market area, and it took them a while to reach there.
Since they weren’t in a hurry, even though they hadn’t found an inn to stay at yet, the two took a romantic walk, as Calista called it. Spending quality time with her husband as they just chat, enjoy the cool breeze and get to know each other more. It was worth more than finding a place to sleep.
If things get really sour, she doesn’t mind revealing another secret to provide a roof over her husband’s head. No matter what, she didn’t want to see him freezing just because she wanted to go on a date.
Luckily, they arrived at the market area around dusk and a lot of people were still walking around. The market area was very noisy, with people moving up and down, busy with their chores and lives.
Silverbroke town didn’t have a lot of fancy buildings. They weren’t that advanced and, thanks to that, not a lot of people preferred spending money to stay at inns.
So, when they arrived at the inn, Calista and Orson managed to check into a nice room. She booked the best room since she couldn’t stand the standard one. The best room was worse than her guestroom at home, so how bad could be the standard room?
She didn’t dare try it.
After settling into the room, the couple cleaned up the place since Calista insisted on doing so.
"Who knows what the previous occupants did in the room before?" that’s what she kept mumbling as she cleaned the room until it was squeaky clean, according to her standards.
After the cleaning routine, the couple took a bath and headed to the restaurant for dinner. Since they had finished all the food that they had brought and given the leftovers to Frank when he left, they had no choice but to buy food, even though it wasn’t to their liking.
That night, the couple didn’t do any extra activities but slept obediently in each other’s arms, though it was a battle. Sleeping in a different environment was a bit hard for them, but they didn’t share that or show each other about that.
The next day, Calista, despite not sleeping well, looked pretty fine and refreshed. The same was true for Orson. The couple had a bath first thing in the morning. An act which surprised the inn’s staff.
Who took baths a lot of times in a day?
Calista and Orson both did. In fact, Calista took a lot of baths in a day. It was more of an OCD for her. Something that she couldn’t get rid of just because she wanted to. Besides, why stop bathing when it felt that nice?
After bathing, Calista wore a pretty yellow skirt and paired it up with a white long-sleeved blouse. She added a jacket with a fur collar. It was a bit cold, and she didn’t dare try the weather, though she could get rid of the cold if she truly wanted to.
But who made her want to live like a mortal?
After dressing herself and Orson, the two left the room with all the essentials on them. Never trust leaving your essentials at inns. Who knows who might break in and cause a ruckus?
They didn’t eat breakfast at the inn’s restaurant but went to the street, which shocked Orson, as he didn’t think that she would do so.
However, as they both sat on wooden stools, with plates in hand, several gazes on them, he accepted that Calista was capable of doing anything.
"It’s been long since I saw you. And here I thought I wouldn’t see you!" the old lady, who was the stall owner, said to Calista as she looked at her with a doting smile, as if Calista was her daughter or granddaughter.
Blowing on the hot porridge, Calista’s eyes squinted as she looked at the lady.
"Hehe, take your time. No one is changing you!" the lady said teasingly, seeing that Calista was concentrating on the plate of food.
Hearing that, Calista nodded in response as she continued with what she was doing.
After breakfast, the couple left the food stalls and headed to a clothing shop, where Orson learnt another secret of Calista again.
"Well, well, well. Here comes the new bride! And is this gentleman the groom?" suddenly after entering the shop, a well-dressed lady exclaimed as she walked towards Calista and Orson.
Orson, seeing the lady, looked at Calista to check if she knew the person or not. And when he saw her smile, the kind she always gave to the Dickens family, he knew immediately that this person was probably family.
That’s what she called those who were very close to her. They were family and the sound of that he found very pleasing.
"Hehe, you are curious about someone else’s groom when you are not even holding a gift? What kind of friend are you?" Calista chuckled sinisterly as she looked at her other friend and business partner, Faith, the lady who was running a clothing shop in Silverbroke town.
Faith scoffed at hearing Calista’s shameless words. "How dare you say that when you didn’t even invite me to your wedding? I had to know about your wedding a few days before it was held. Umph, besides, didn’t I give you the gifts already?"
"Huh! That was then, and this is now. I brought you your brother-in-law and you aren’t even presenting something. How dare you feast on his handsomeness for free?" placing her hands on her waist, Calista proved how thick-skinned she was despite several people looking at her.
Faith choked at hearing her friend blurting such words in public, but Orson was worse. It was quite interesting seeing the two friends bantering with each other, but how did the bantering reach this stage?
And looking at the flushed faces of several women in the shop, Orson pulled Calista to his side with his hand held around her waist. Another move which made the atmosphere in the shop worsened.
Seeing what he had done, Orson wanted to let go. However, Calista glared at him saying, "The deed is already done and you want to dine and dash?"
"You ....."
