Chapter 66: Chapter 66: WISHING HER WELL
"Thank you for your blessings. I truly appreciate it."
"Haha, it’s a good thing to be happy. Good thing you picked such a good lad."
"Hahaha, I have a good choice, don’t I?"
"You are pretty good!"
"I always amaze myself all the time you know!"
"Learn to be humble!"
"Hahaha!"
Calista sold her food pretty fast while conversing with the customers. It didn’t take long before she was done clearing all the food baskets she needed to sell.
After she was done, she bided the customers’ goodbyes since she still had other things to do. She couldn’t keep on entertaining other people when her schedule was packed.
"Where are we going to this time?"
"Let’s stop by the brick workshop. I need to buy and order some bricks."
"Okay, heading there straight away!"
The three of them then headed for the workshop, leaving several people looking in their direction.
"It’s quite a shock that she got married again."
"Yes, I was shocked when I heard it. She really lives up to her reputation!"
"Haha, I love her guts, though. Rather than fooling around in the darkness, she came to light. She is still young and getting remarried makes sense."
"That’s true. Condemning her wouldn’t even make sense. She can still conceive and start her own family."
"I can imagine what that family is thinking right now!"
"Haha, I heard a drama recently happened over there."
"Huh, come on, tell us. What happened?"
"You..... you are starting already?"
"Umph, why can’t I?"
"What if you offend others by gossiping?"
"She is no longer here, anyway."
"I will be leaving, another time!"
"Go! You are a coward!"
"Umph, you do you! I do me!"
It became a bit chaotic at the previous site as the ladies started gossiping.
Meanwhile, on Calista’s side, after a while, they finally arrived at the workshop.
There weren’t a lot of people when they arrived, which was good. She looked around the workshop and nodded with satisfaction as she looked at the red clay bricks.
There were no cement bricks yet in her world, as no one had yet invented it. Probably the person who brought the use of batteries didn’t know the recipe for making cement. Thinking about the person behind all these futuristic inventions, Calista was curious whether it was female or male.
And what was that person thinking about doing such dangerous things?
It was an era of monarchy where emperors and kings ruled. Once an individual’s power starts to threaten them, they would drain the person of all his value and get rid of them. That’s how cruel the world was and why she didn’t want to stand out a lot.
Thank the goddess of mercy, some people exposed themselves in the past ten years. So, whatever she would be doing would no longer be questionable, but sounds just normal.
After all, would she be suspected just because she built a brick house?
Counting the number of brick houses all over the continents, why would hers cause commotion?
So, feeling very free from any worries, she looked at the thousands of bricks laid nicely on top of each other to provide more space for others with a smile on her face.
Seeing how these brickmakers had made a lot of bricks which looked appealing to the eyes, she was quite happy. At least with this number of bricks, she didn’t have to delay the construction time.
As long as she have the bricks and the masons for the job, everything would be flowing swiftly.
If she buys all of them, she will be able to have something built. However, the bricks didn’t seem to be enough for her projects, but that wasn’t a problem.
She just needed to order more, and these bricklayers would do the job for them. Not only were they good at brickmaking, but masonry as well. Thinking about what she told the villagers, she decided to try her luck this time.
Rather than waiting for unknown masonries, she would go for the professionals.
When they arrived, there were a few people at the workshop and a middle-aged man came to welcome them, though his focus was more on Orson than Calista. And that made her sulk a bit.
Orson, seeing that, patted his wife’s hand, comforting her. He knew that she was the one heading the whole thing today, and yet these people just had to look for the wrong person. What were they trying to do?
"Thank you. But this time, I am afraid that you need to talk to my wife. She is the one who I escorted today!" without batting an eye, Orson kindly said to the middle-aged man.
He didn’t want the man’s words and his attitude towards women to offend this ancestor of his; he was still trying to decipher.
And when the middle-aged man heard that, his brows rose for a second as surprise flashed in his eyes before calming himself and turning to Calista.
Taking a closer look at her, the man found out that she must be a rich madam. Not only was she beautiful, but she carried an aura that, if one mistook, you wouldn’t be able to see it. However, looking at her now, he could tell that she was in the leading role. Making him wonder just what kind of customers he received today.
"Welcome, madam and sir, to our workshop. So how may I be of service today?" the man asked politely, his words directed mainly towards Calista, who smiled at him, happy about being addressed first in his statement.
"Um ... apart from making and selling bricks, do you happen to have masons?" Calista asked directly as she looked around, trying to find a person who matched that description.
When the man heard that, his eyes lit up before he replied, "Yes, we do have them. We have three of them and all of them happen to have no jobs currently. Do you want to hire one?"
