Chapter 58: I HAD ENOUGH OF HER

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: I HAD ENOUGH OF HER

Meanwhile, back at the river, several women and girls continued to steal peeks at Calista after the showdown with Benita earlier.

Who would have known that Calista would go ballistic on Benita? She had always retreated before, but suddenly she retorted. How could they not be shocked?

On the other hand, Calista felt very good as she found the place very quiet. At least now she could do her chores peacefully without any flies annoying her.

"Cali .... You, are you not afraid that she will tell her mother?" Susan was very worried about Calista, especially after seeing Benita running away.

Calista stretched her back as she looked at Susan and smirked, "If she wants to try me, then let her come. It’s been years since I saw her. Having a reunion isn’t that bad!"

"You ...."

"Susan, you aren’t the one who had been on the receiving end of the nasty words she had thrown at me. So, don’t try to persuade me. Besides, I don’t fear anyone except the deities. I had enough of her, so please let me be!"

Susan could only shake her head helplessly, seeing that Calista wasn’t even giving her the chance to say a few more words.

In the end, Susan gave up, and Calista continued to do her laundry.

It was on this day that those who didn’t believe that Calista was married believed it partially. They saw the male clothes she was washing and if the man wasn’t there, why should she be washing them?

After doing laundry, Calista sat down to eat with Susan before she went to her usual spot to fish. Since Susan’s laundry was not yet done, Calista decided to try her luck.

Watching her on the fishing spot, the other women knew that she was about to get lucky again.

"Um, Aunty Calista, if you get the fish, can I buy one from you?" suddenly a timid-looking girl asked as she looked at Calista expectantly.

When Calista heard that, she raised her head to look at the daring person to ask this from her. That was the first time someone dared to ask such a thing when she was fishing.

However, when she saw the person, she froze for a second. ’We have a person like this in the village too!’ she wondered doubtfully.

Her photographic memory was exceptional, and yet she didn’t remember seeing someone like this before. Just who was she?

"Who are you?" she asked directly since racking her brains would only waste time.

The young girl fidgeted with her fingers nervously as she responded, "I ..... I am from Danai Village. I visited my sister; she is married in your village."

Hearing her explanation, Calista felt that it made sense. It wasn’t like she knew other people’s relatives. Knowing those who she interacts with directly is what matters.

"Sure, I will sell it to you. Since you are brave, I will sell you four fish for five copper coins. What do you think?" the price was ridiculously cheap and the other women who were expecting to see drama dropped their jaws to the ground.

The timid girl’s eyes brightened up after hearing the price. "Thank you so much. I will rush home to get the money!"

And without waiting for Calista’s response, the girl was gone.

Calista shook her head helplessly before concentrating on her fishing.

However, the girl’s bravery made other women very courageous. Without knowing who started it, the other women began to try their luck.

Calista, feeling generous, ended up telling the ladies, "Let’s wait until I see the harvest. If there is a lot, I will sell it to you for three copper coins per two fish."

Hearing that they also had a chance, the women were very happy that they began to raise suggestions.

"If you have the following, I will consider barter trade, but the only condition is that the fish should be there. So please wait until everything is certain!" Calista addressed the crowd.

Hearing that, they all felt that it was acceptable. After all, selling what had not been caught yet was foolish.

As a result, once in a while, people would check on Calista, who was resting on the rock with her eyes closed. No one was sure whether her fish baskets were catching anything or not. However, they were all certain of one thing. As long as she wanted to fish, Calista wasn’t one to leave the river without it.

The goddess of luck blessed her; it was one thing that all agreed to.

Meanwhile, while Calista was at the river, back at the hill, Orson left as soon as he was finished with the chores.

He took the bottle of medicine with him when he left, his destination, the forest he was in the previous day.

When he arrived at the designated spot, he found his subordinate already waiting for him.

"Did you bring it?" Orson asked as soon as he saw the man dressed in black.

The man nodded his head before pulling a porcelain bottle from his clothes. Orson took the bottle from the black-dressed man. He took out the medicine bottle from his sleeves and poured three-quarters of its content into the porcelain bottle before giving it back to the black-dressed man.

"Send this home alongside this letter. Make sure that they take it according to the instructions written down. Do you hear me?" he instructed the man sternly as he handed over the sealed letter he had written as well.

The black-dressed man accepted respectfully both the bottle and letter, but his hands were trembling, and his eyes sparkling with joy.

Orson chuckled lightly at seeing the man’s actions.

"Just make sure you don’t lose it. I don’t know when I can have another bottle. She was feeling generous. So do everything you can to make sure that it reaches home and is in the right hands. You hear me?"

"Trust me, master. I will protect it with my life!"

"Um, I am reassured by that. You can go now!" Orson sent the man away.

And the black-dressed man gave Orson a bow before he vanished.

With the man gone, Orson started returning to the hill and on his way, he picked firewood and brought home another pheasant for Calista.

As he sat a while later in front of the mirror looking at the man-made scar he was about to remove, he wondered what she was doing at the river. Was she causing trouble again or getting along with others?

The more he thought about it, the more his temples throbbed. In the end, he began to treat his wound. Since she wanted him to be treated, then he was going to do so.

When the medicine touched his scar, he felt for a brief moment as if his skin tissues were being pulled. However, it disappeared as fast as it appeared.

After applying the medicine to the scar, Orson placed the bottle in the drawer that Calista designated as his in her wardrobe.

After putting it away, he couldn’t help but look at her clothes. Seeing how well organized they were, he nodded satisfactorily.

However, when his eyes landed on the strange black, grey and brown clothes, he wondered if she wouldn’t have just bought a few and wash whenever they were dirty.

But she just had to own around ten or more sets of the same color.

Was it really necessary?
