Chapter 57: Chapter 57: HER HIDDEN FEAR

Upon hearing the jest of the story, Benita suddenly became enlightened. No wonder why Calista was being so brazen like that. Just because she could beat a man, did she think that she would be able to win over her?

If those tricks can work out, weren’t there still a lot she hadn’t tried yet?

"But I still advise you to be careful, she announced to the whole village that she got remarried. So, you definitely can’t use the fact that she was your stepmother anymore. She is scarier than she was before," the acquaintance revealed another piece of news.

And when Benita heard, she became furious.

"She did what? How dare she get remarried? Tche, when my father is buried in the ground, does she have the guts to continue living her life? I will not let her!" without waiting for her acquittance to finish what she wanted to say before, she stormed away, angrily and anyone could tell that she wasn’t in the right mood.

The acquaintance seeing Benita’s reaction, a smile crept on her face. "You have always been impatient and think that the world should revolve around you. This time you are fighting against crazy. If only you were patient, I would have told you what I saw and maybe you wouldn’t be courting death like a fool!"

She shook her head helplessly as she thought of Benita’s ending already. With a creepy smile on her face, she continued her journey. However, as she recalled what she saw again on that day, what others didn’t see as she was the person who personally went to call Calista that day, her body trembled with fear, prompting her to walk faster.

"No one is allowed to go and call her. We need to send this scammer away!" the village chief warned every villager sternly as a bulky man continued to spout unbelievable statements at the village center.

Hearing such juicy news, how could she just let the protagonist of the story not appear?

So, she slipped away without the others seeing, and that was how Lina managed to inform Calista about the crazy things happening in the village.

Lina was born in Nicosa village. Growing up, she had always envied a lot of girls in the village. Their families were better than hers, so how did she like them?

One of the girls she still envied, even after getting married for years, was Benita. Despite her family having two mothers, which was very rare in their village, their family lived better than others.

The second mother was very pretty and young. Besides, she was very generous. She still remembered receiving candies from Calista when she was young. However, Benita and others would go around denouncing her. In the end, she joined the rest and started having Calista as well.

Everything went well when Benita’s father died. At least without him, their lives would go down the hill and everyone would be the same. But who knew that their lives didn’t change that much compared to before?

Lina grew up and finally got married to a young fisherman in Cropville village, the neighboring village of Nicosa village. While she was taking care of a family, Benita went to the city, which changed her life. How could she not be envious?

So, to make herself feel better, denouncing others became her greatest comfort. And bashing Calista was everyone’s hobby. So, when she heard of the juicy gossip, she wanted to see Calista getting busted, so she kindly informed her. And surely Calista was angry.

At the thought of Calista losing face, Lina was very happy. However, she didn’t let Calista see that, so she left first but hid along the way. She wanted to see Calista from the way home to the village.

Unfortunately, she regretted the choice she made that day.

Calista after leaving the house, angrily walked down the hill. However, what Lina saw that day, she would never forget. In fact, she had been having nightmares ever since that night; she was going crazy.

At first, she thought her eyes were failing her, but when she saw Calista’s feet not touching the ground as she descended the hill, she nearly screamed that she saw a ghost. However, if Calista was a ghost, wouldn’t she silence her if she exposed herself?

As a result, due to fear, Lina placed her hand firmly on her mouth to not let a single scream slip. But Calista wasn’t done yet. It seemed that she had planned to shock her greatly, otherwise she wouldn’t have done so many scary things for Lina to see like that.

Lina didn’t know what Calista was mumbling to herself but as she literally walked in the air, she suddenly opened her fan, Lina heard a swish sound and the next thing she witnessed was the bush getting cut in half.

Thinking that her eyes had started again, another tree fell after she waved the fan and, seeing that, Lina crumbled and fell to the ground. Even if she wanted to unsee what she had just seen, it was no longer possible.

Could she continue doing what she wanted to do?

She was simply too scared. However, as much as she was scared, she didn’t have any strength to stand up and go home.

But what if, what if a certain monster, something she had listened to the elders talking about, from a folklore appeared in her vision, would the strength to continue being not be there?

Until now, Lina still didn’t remember how she fled from the hill and ended up locked up in her house for the whole day before leaving the village to get away from the place.

Walking back to the village, Lina continued to look around and she didn’t dare walk near the grasses or the forest.

She was too scared. In fact, she didn’t want to return to Cropville village. What if that beast looks for her and eats her? What could she do to save herself?

She couldn’t even tell others about that. What if Calista silences her for real? Lina was in a dilemma.

Only if Benita causes trouble to Calista, maybe that monstrous black snake would not remember her.

But where did that snake come from in the first place?

Thinking about all the strange things about that hill ever since Calista started living there, Lina silently prayed to the goddess of peace. ’Goddess RIVA, protect me. I will become a good person, I swear!’

But who knows if the goddess has time to listen?

Only time will tell.
