Seeing how fast Calista was able to change her expression, the crowd was once again amazed by how good she was. Thank goodness, none of them ever dared to poke her buttons to the extent of suffering such a blow.

This was the kind of vixen they were too afraid to provoke.

Another gossipy woman who didn’t have much animosity towards Calista asked curiously as soon as she heard about the good news. Looking at the smile on her face, the gossiper in her knew that there was something there.

Calista beamed, showing a blinding smile which made several women envious. How could a woman who was once married still shine so brightly, like that, when they were getting wrinkled and getting older?

"I got married yesterday. I will host a banquet on another day to show you my beloved husband. So, wish me well everyone!"

When the villagers heard that, it suddenly began to make sense why she was overreacting and clearing her name like that. All these years, she had never stopped people from calling her names and yet today she did exactly that.

That was all because she got married.

But how did she get married? Who was the groom and where was he from? Just what exactly was going on?

All of them couldn’t help but wonder.

Unfortunately, before they could ask her, Calista opened her black fan, revealing a majestic fire bird which left everyone in awe.

By the time they remembered what they were supposed to ask, she was nowhere to be found.

As a result, the village chief and his family had a field day as they explained to the gossipy villagers about the news that Calista had just revealed before slipping away.

After slipping away, Calista hurriedly made way to the hill with a panicky heart. With all the commotion which had been happening, she wasn’t so certain that Orson was obedient enough to stay on the hill.

When she reached the hill, a slithering sound suddenly entered her ears and hearing it, a smile appeared on her face.

Looking in the direction the slithering sounds were coming from, she opened her mouth and asked, "Blacky, did he leave the hill?"

Moments later, hissing was heard and heard, and Calista’s eyes narrowed as several thoughts emerged in her mind.

"Go and have fun!" she addressed whatever was hissing in the grass before climbing the hill with an ever-changing face.

However, as soon as she stepped on top of the hill, her expression changed to that of sunny as if she wasn’t the person who looked dangerous a while ago.

As soon as she was there, Whitey, her beloved kitten, appeared and trotted towards her, stopping at her feet.

Calista smiled helplessly as she crouched a bit to pick up the white kitten.

"You miss me a lot?" she asked teasingly as she massaged the kitten’s neck.

"Meow!" came the reply and Calista burst into a hearty laughter.

"And I missed you too! Where is your dad?" she asked softly as she looked around, trying to find where her husband might be.

And another, "meow" was heard as a response again.

"You go and play. I will prepare a delicious meal for you soon. Mom and Daddy need to talk!" Calista said coaxingly at the kitten before placing it down.

And as soon as Whitey landed on his feet, he hurriedly ran away to the back of the house. As for what he was going to do, Calista wasn’t in the mood to think about it.

Calista clicked her tongue as she climbed the stairs to the tree house, wondering what her dear husband might be doing in the house right now.

And when she spotted him, she froze in her tracks, wondering what he was up to.

Raising his head with a faint smile on his face, Orson beamed at Calista the second she appeared on the second floor. Everything would have been perfect if he wasn’t holding the mop in his other hand.

With a single glance, she could tell that he had been cleaning the house and when was the last time she had someone else do the chore for her?

At that moment, even her dissatisfaction with his disobedience of leaving the hill was thrown out somewhere. How could a man look so damn hot when moping?

"You are back?" he asked smilingly, his eyes so clear, as if he didn’t have any blemishes.

Looking at the man who seemed to be who she might not have expected, Calista found him amusing.

’I wonder how many layers I am going to peel off you to know who you are really and why you came to my place, of all places!’

"Um. I am back!" she beamed at him before looking at the wet floor.

Seeing where her focus had shifted to, Orson scratched his nose embarrassingly and said, "I didn’t want you to overwork when you return. So, I thought of cleaning the house. This way you won’t have a lot of chores when you return," his tone was very convincing.

Upon hearing that, Calista’s smile even widened.

So, what if he had other intentions? A man who knew how to help others was a green flag. As for the red flags, she would slowly unpeel them, but for today, she was going to let that go and monitor closely.

"Thank you so much. It means a lot to me."

"Spouses should help each other, I learnt that from you!" with a proud smile on his face, he reminded.

Calista, being reminded of the words she uttered before because she wanted to let Orson work, grinned sheepishly as she wasn’t expecting him to say that. "Um. Couples should help each other. That’s how love grows!"

Since she could no longer retrieve the words anymore, she decided to act shamelessly all the way.

Orson, hearing that, was relieved to see that she was still the same person who left before. His wife’s shamelessness knew no bounds, after all.
