Chapter 44: AN UNEXPECTED TALE

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: AN UNEXPECTED TALE

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

As early that morning when Calista and Orson were enjoying their rare moment after such a wild night, their sleep and rest were disturbed when someone called for Calista so loudly that even if Calista wanted to ignore it, it was impossible.

Forced to wake up, Calista could only pry herself from Orson’s arms quietly so that she wouldn’t disturb him.

When her feet landed on the floor, she hissed with pain as her nether regions reminded her of how wild she and Orson were the whole night.

Calista looked at her sleeping husband before tip-toeing to the cabinet where she opened a certain drawer and took out a bottle. She took a sip of what was inside before her body felt much alive.

After taking the medicine, she found a robe to wear before leaving the bedroom after wearing a pair of sandals.

As she headed downstairs, she mumbled to herself angrily, ’It better be something serious. Otherwise, you will never get the end of it!’

After getting disturbed like that, how could she be happy?

Meanwhile, when Calista was going outside the tree house, the supposed sleeping husband, opened his eyes and they were clear as day without any signs of drowsiness in them.

He had been awake for a while now, but the nice fragrance Calista was emitting forced him to just relax and enjoy himself.

He doesn’t recall how long it had been for him to sleep very relaxedly even though it was for a short time. He didn’t even dream, nor did he have a nightmare. It was just peaceful, and the sensation was addictive.

When she climbed down the bed, Orson saw clearly where she went before leaving.

As he followed her steps soon after, he couldn’t help but wonder as he looked at the drawer filled with several bottles. All of them looked the same making it very confusing to know what was what.

What was infuriating was knowing that the kind of medicine he came here for, the real reason why he had been staying with Calista was in the drawer and yet he didn’t even know which bottle it was.

Looking at the clear contents in each bottle and the unnamed bottles which didn’t identify what was what, Orson didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

If he were to take one bottle from the batch, how would he know if he had taken the right one?

What if what he takes is poisonous and not a remedy?

If he were to steal all of them, wouldn’t she hunt him all over the world to settle debts with him?

However, he couldn’t wait. The clock was ticking, and he needed to get what he wanted as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, as he sensed the familiar footsteps, he knew pretty well that he didn’t have a lot of time.

"It seems that I need to do this another time!" he sighed dejectedly before he closed the drawer in the same position, she left it.

And as soon as he was done, he returned to the bed where he sat instead of sleeping.

Shortly after, a pissed-off Calista stomped into the room and just looking at her, Orson was certain that things weren’t so well.

"Wife, this ... what’s going on?" he hesitatingly asked, looking at her with a worried expression.

Hearing her husband’s concerned tone, Calista felt like hitting someone so badly rather than feeling comforted.

"Damn this! You stay here, I will be back in a moment!" however she didn’t dare take out her frustrations on her husband.

What if she scares him away by doing so?

She didn’t dare risk it!

So, Orson who didn’t receive the response he wanted, watched as Calista opened the huge wardrobe and picked a grey dress with matching pants.

Without caring about her naked body which was filled with dark marks, the ones he left during the wild night, Calista wore the clothes.

After wearing and tying her hair in a nice messy bun, Calista stomped out of the bedroom again without revealing much.

Seeing her like that, he had a feeling that she was marching to war. But who was so bold to piss this shameless and unreasonable woman early in the morning and the morning after her wedding?

Wasn’t that person not scared of what Calista might do?

Even though he hadn’t seen her in action, judging by her temper, she didn’t look like someone who could keep her temper in check. She was the kind who could even exchange fists when it came to that.

She was powerful; he knew that. So, what could stop her from fighting back?

Not knowing what Calista was planning to do, Orson’s deduction was spot on.

Hurrying down the hill at a crazy speed that if other people saw her, they would definitely accuse of her witchcraft, Calista descended the hill holding a pitch-black flan.

At the center of the village, the battle of words was still on going and at this time, those who had eaten more salt, could tell that there was something wrong.

Someone was here to cause trouble and throw dirty water on Calista.

In their era, some accusations were so serious that if a woman wasn’t strong, she would commit suicide straight away. The thought of living with people pointing fingers and speaking behind her back, no woman would be able to live with that. Even if the accusation was false.

In a matter of time, the burly man had accused Calista of so many crimes and no amount of action was enough to whitewash herself.

"This is quite interesting. Why didn’t I know that Calista was such a person? Tell me, mister. How did you meet her in the first place and how did she scam you like this? She really needs to be taught a lesson if this is true!" suddenly from the crowd, a familiar female voice sounded, urging the burly man to continue talking.
