Chapter 331: EXTRA 5: CALISTA SOLACE 2

When the sorceress arrived, using the short time that Calista had remained before her death, the two finally negotiated the deal that they made decades ago.

In return, to make a lot of people forget, and to make Orson suffer, which she believed he did even though she had never asked anything about him, she promised the sorceress to go on another mission for her.

A mission from the sorceress meant living a new life. And after living such a fulfilling life like this one without a script, she honestly looked forward to it.

She was no longer repulsive towards missions like she was when she returned.

"What do you want me to do?"

"Pretty simple. There is a world out there that I want you to go to. I need you to collect three certain items for me. I will collect them from you once you get them."

"Oh~ that sounds simple. Is it the only thing that you want?"

"Yep."

"And there is no script?"

"No. There isn’t. You just live your life, but do your best to get what I need!"

Calista was confused when she heard that. She couldn’t help but ask, "But why can’t you take it yourself? I believe that it might be easy, considering how powerful you are!"

The sorceress sighed dejectedly upon hearing that and seeing her expression. Calista could tell that there was something that indeed stopped or rather restricted the sorceress from doing exactly that. Recalling how she had to go to so many worlds back then, which the sorceress could have done personally but didn’t, she decided to not question anymore. And the sorceress didn’t respond to that but continued.

"You shall choose five cheats you want to have in the next life."

The moment Calista heard that, her eyes lit up pretty fast. She already made a list but before speaking what she wanted out loud, she asked the sorceress first, "What kind of world will I be going to, by the way?"

"A modern world, or should I say an advanced technological world, but not the interstellar kind," came the response.

Calista, who had traveled to all sorts of worlds before, understood immediately the world that she would be going to and it made her eyes brighten up even further.

As long as she wasn’t going to any ancient, primitive or apocalyptic world, she was fine with any world.

The interstellar wasn’t so bad. After all, with all the AI, super abilities and so forth, she could still manage to survive. The modern world was even better, with a lot of food, clothes and entertainment. She wanted that kind of world the best.

And when it’s combined, then the world is even more perfect. She liked it so much.

Now that she got the world settings, she revised her list and came up with what she felt she needed the most.

"I need a good identity, preferably a rich family’s daughter (legitimate kind), or a princess if there are still kingdoms if a tribe, then perhaps a saintess. Anyway, I want a life where I will grow up helplessly pampered and won’t need to lift a finger. I have worked so much and enough for several lifetimes. I don’t want to overwork.

I will need a physique that is lucky like this one, and I better be fertile. I really love children and I look forward to having a few when I get there. You never go wrong when it comes to kids.

I need to have my pets with me. They must follow me and since it’s a modern world and supernatural events might cause some harm to myself; it will be better if I could summon them when I need them and not live with them like I did in this lifetime.

Remember the martial world where martial beasts’ pockets were on the person and showed as tattoos? We can do that.

I need my storage ring. It’s safer storing things there than anywhere else. So better give me a nice one. It doesn’t necessarily have to be big.

Lastly, I need lifesaving medicines. They don’t need to be many, just enough for my life as well as my family. Preferably three bottles of undiluted medicine. It can last me for a long time."

Calista boldly listed the cheats she would want in her next life. Since the sorceress was very generous, she couldn’t help but go all out as well.

Who told the sorceress to make her choose?

When the sorceress heard that list, her face twitched as she thought to herself, ’expected of Calista,’ but still agreed on what she listed.

After all, that wasn’t anything bad or over the top. She simply asked nearly the same of what she had in this lifetime.

She was able to reach her age without offending too many people and even achieved greater things than she expected. Since she could do here, in that world, she would fare just well. So, she gave ahead the green light.

After that, the sorceress explained in detail what was expected of her, but none of it was restrictive. In other words, she could live however she wanted as long as she got what the sorceress needed.

Once the terms were agreed to, a familiar soul contract appeared, and the two of them signed. Her copy flew towards her and disappeared into her consciousness.

From now on, she was bound to a contract and needed to follow it.

Once the deal was done, she couldn’t help but ask the sorceress about Orson, and when she heard about him, she couldn’t help but shake her head but didn’t feel any pity at all.

Orson chose his path and so did she. Whatever happened to him, it wasn’t any of her business.

What was the use of regretting when the deed was done?

If he truly cared and wanted to make up for what he did and his regrets, he could have sent someone over. When she angrily told the sorceress about the kind of punishment she should give to him, she didn’t ban everyone from coming to see her.

Although she didn’t think about it, he could have sent anyone to check on her, but he didn’t. So, what was the point of him missing her?

That was just an excuse.

After hearing about Orson and his regrets, Calista couldn’t be any happier.

And it coincided with the time that her spirit finally got depleted.

With the sorceress and her pets by her side, she took her last breath.

The sorceress looked at Calista and waved her hand to capture her soul before leaving. The pets who had been left alone couldn’t help but mourn out loud, and everyone that night knew about her death.

Calista lived in that world for ninety-nine years and died peacefully, without any regrets.

When her pet spirits joined her sometime later, she no longer felt alone, but looked forward to her next journey.

She didn’t know what kind of future awaited her, but whatever it was, like she said, one step at a time; she was going to do so.

However, when she opened her eyes and found herself in the body of an infant sailing in the river and on a basket, she started to wonder if that kind of motto was something that she should even say.

Didn’t the sorceress promise her a good life and a good identity? What kind of good identity starts with her being abandoned?

Was she reneging on the contract already?

However, when she saw the familiar interface appearing in front of her, [Welcome to the Glamor System, host. How about we start by crying and alert your future caretakers!] She broke into a toothless grin before she did as instructed.

"Waaaa ... waaa," after all, she was looking forward to seeing these caretakers and how they would make her live a life of glamour.

Who didn’t want to be glamorous?
