Chapter 325: Chapter 318: THE CUNNING SORCRESS
When Calista left the tower, she was still in shock and disbelief. The old lady was paralyzed, so how could she manage to stand, hold a weapon, and slaughter everyone without them fighting?
There was no way those children of hers would let her just kill them like that without fighting for their lives.
So, what truly happened?
Could it be that she got possessed by an evil spirit and did all that? But why do so?
It just didn’t make sense, but at the same time, knowing that it wasn’t her who committed the deed, she became at ease.
It had been weighing on her so badly.
It must have been their sins which were so dark that they attracted an evil spirit. If they weren’t like that, perhaps everyone would be very much alive right now.
After settling her uneasy heart, Calista knew that she didn’t have anything to linger around for.
She had gotten her revenge, and Orson was chased away. He would no longer be a bother in her life.
With everything settled, she left the city with a smile on her face. Once she was out of the city and in a forest by herself, she used the teleportation stone and she was gone.

What she didn’t know was that as soon as she activated the stone and stepped through the wormhole, a mass of black emerged from where she was standing. And it was the same ghost Lady Thomas encountered previously after she left.
The mass of black started becoming solid and firm. Like magic, it transformed from that to someone who could have sent Calista into shock if she had seen her.
Lo and behold, a woman wearing a black cloak stood in place of the black mass, and a cunning smile hung on her lips.
"Child, you couldn’t do it, but there is no way I will keep such a dangerous person in this world. I will cut all nuisances for you. Only when you have nothing to worry about can you do the next mission in peace!"
After saying such words, she dotingly looked in the direction where Calista had left before another wormhole appeared, and she walked right through it, her destination, another familiar place.

BLUEBIRD ISLAND
"Are you happy with the results?" a sinister female voice sounded behind a burly man whose muscles were bulging as he looked with a smile at the several men and women chanting as they trained.
The man didn’t bother to turn around to see who was talking, but nodded, his eyes squinting with happiness and the tips of his mouth curled upwards.
"Indeed, I am very happy. You are truly one genius!" the man spoke satisfyingly, and the female chuckled coyly as she appeared. And she looked pretty much familiar.
The man turned his head to look at the woman who was cunning in so many ways and couldn’t help but chuckle softly, "but why are you doing this? You aren’t gaining anything!" he asked curiously as he pondered on the whole matter.
The sorceress looked at the chieftain and a mysterious glint flickered in her eyes. "That’s for me to know. If you are curious, then spend the rest of your life thinking about it!" she rudely responded, and without giving him a chance to say anything, she vanished.
The chieftain shook his head helplessly upon being ditched after such a statement had been thrown at him.
He was curious, very curious, that he felt like he was dying. But he knew one thing: curiosity killed a cat. Since she didn’t want him to know, then he could only swallow this and pretend that he didn’t know.
Anyway, it wasn’t like he made a loss. The deal was indeed worth it and there were no regrets.
Looking at the men and women who looked united without any ounce of division, all sacrifices and choices were absolutely worth it.
He felt firmer with his decision when he looked in that direction, where a beautiful pair of girls were playing, running around and laughing heartily while being chased around by their father.
If he hadn’t done that, would he be able to see that in this life?
Would that cold and indifferent man ever play with his daughters openly like that?
Would he get to see the men on this island so united without any fuss?
Having an overqualified brother-in-law and subordinate was stressful. As a chieftain, he was strong and revered and yet he knew that there were a lot of men on this island who supported his brother-in-law and would die to put him in the chieftain’s position.
His brother-in-law was very ambitious, and that was something that he couldn’t put a stop to.
Everything was fine all these years until the girls got so sick. When he learnt that Pierce/ Orson had met a very powerful woman, he panicked.
If the two of them became a couple, wouldn’t his position be in trouble?
His children, what would happen to them once he was pushed out of the chieftain’s seat?
Pierce was very ruthless. If he was capable of murdering his own parents for the crime of abandoning him, what would stop him from killing him and his family?
The majority of Pierce’s men were very loyal and couldn’t be bought. It was by luck that he managed to find a traitor who stood by his side for so long that he managed to learn about all his wonderful deeds throughout the years.
When the girls nearly died, and the sorceress offered a solution, his fear resurfaced. He didn’t want those two to surface, so he thought of a plan.
He wanted to send his people to follow Pierce. Once the girls were cured, he would get rid of the woman. Killing Pierce was out of the question. The clan couldn’t do without him, despite him being a threat to his chieftaincy. As long as the woman was killed, then he wouldn’t need to worry about anything.
But before he could implement that, the sorceress appeared and for the first time in a very long time; he felt very scared. The sorceress was a nice lady when she was following around but when angry; she was too scary.
She didn’t like his idea at all and threatened to erase all of their lives if he dared think like that again. Thus, a deal was made.
Cut the trouble from the root and, in this case, make sure that the couple will never come together.
He didn’t know why the sorceress was unwilling for the two to be together but as long as he could achieve what he wanted; he didn’t care about the process.
Although the process took a bit too long to achieve, he was still happy with the results.
Pierce would always remain his brother-in-law and have a great hand in ruling this island until it was no more.
And he wouldn’t have to worry about that woman and Pierce uniting and causing havoc for him.
As for whether Pierce would be hurt or not, what did that have to do with him?
He was happy to watch him suffer.
After all, didn’t his sister suffer worse than him in the years they were married?
Just because he never said it doesn’t mean that he never saw it.
Karma was indeed ... something else, and he liked it!
