Chapter 301: THE TRUTH BACK THEN
Chapter 301: Chapter 301: THE TRUTH BACK THEN
’Where am I? What happened?’ that was what he asked himself as he looked around, his vision slightly affected.
His head felt groggy, and it ached badly. It was as if he had drunk a heavy type of wine and he was suffering from a severe hangover which wasn’t going to get away quickly as far as he was concerned.
"I am glad to see you awake!" a familiar voice rang in his head once again and that jolted his memories.
He had been had by Calista and right now he and Shadow were both in her hands. At that moment, his vision became very clear and in front of him was Shadow, who was tied on a tree and he didn’t seem well.
"Shadow, are you okay?" Orson asked worriedly as he looked at Shadow, ignoring the mocking tone of Calista.
Shadow’s mouth was stuffed with something so he couldn’t talk, but he still nodded his head in response and Orson sighed with relief upon seeing that.
Calista, who had been cast aside, clenched her fists with anger and fury.
How could he ignore her?
From before, his concern was only on Shadow and none on her. Was she that less important in his heart for him not to care about why she was doing all this and ignoring her like that?
Suddenly, she started feeling like a fool. Otherwise, if she wasn’t, how could she be in such a state?
If she didn’t know Orson well, she would think that he and Shadow were cut sleeves and having an underground relationship. Nonetheless, it bothered her so much that Orson was acting in such a manner. Whatever outcome she would choose in the end, Orson would definitely be cut out of her life for good.
There was no way that she would find herself with a man who barely cared for her. When they were together at first, his thoughts were on her medicine and when he got it, he ran away.
After that, he thought about her when his daughters were dying. Even when he saw her with a bulging belly, all he cared about was his girls and nothing good about her.
If she continued to fool herself into believing that he might one day have her completely in his heart, wouldn’t she have to wait until she was old and her hair turned white?
He only had her in his heart when others weren’t there. Wasn’t that a bit too cruel for the heart?
She felt disgusted at this choice of love she picked for herself. If she had known that her life would be like that back then, she would have taken care of him and sent him away once he was okay. Unfortunately, no one could evade fate.
That’s what she was destined for. Maybe in her next life, her love affairs wouldn’t be so bad.
Feeling irritated by Orson and Shadow’s intimacy, Calista swings her fan in anger and a tree in between the two was cut down into two before falling to the ground with a thud. And that finally made those two look at her, with eyes full of terror.
Seeing that, Calista felt sad, to be honest. If Shadow had looked at her that way, she would understand, but Orson, haha, she was laughable, wasn’t she?
She didn’t want to continue suffering anymore. She just wanted to return home to her babies, otherwise she might end up dying due to anger.
Orson was shocked as he looked at the fan in Calista’s hand. Never in a million years did he think that the fan Calista loves taking out at times was such a deadly weapon.
Just looking at her, he felt fear towards her and felt anger as well. He found it completely unfair that she was keeping so many deadly secrets from him and yet because of something that happened ages ago; she was doing this to him and his people. He just couldn’t understand it, but like they say, the winner writes history.
Since the other person had the upper hand, he didn’t dare be reckless but lower his head.
Calista, seeing the fear in his eyes, was more pissed off and became determined to deal with this matter as soon as possible. But before she hands out the punishment, she wants to vent her frustrations and let Orson understand what he did wrong.
He might not have done it directly, but because he allowed such things to happen all the time, it was the same as him holding that whip.
The servants act and represent their masters. If a servant does anything appropriate, the master is supposed to teach the servant and let him or her return to the right path. But if not done, then servants like Shadow, who mercilessly order the deaths of others as if a pig is being slain, would be born.
Since she was going to end their lives, she might as well tell them the truth. Thinking about how bad their expression would be after they knew the truth, Calista stood up in excitement, making the two men sigh dejectedly, knowing that nothing good was about to come.
"I bet that you are wondering why we are here. Why I am here and what is truly happening? But I know that Shadow here might have told you something. Didn’t he not, Orson?" Calista smilingly asked as she looked at Orson with a sly gaze, which sent shivers down his spine.
Despite his fear, he nodded his head, agreeing with her words. Even if he wanted to forget, he couldn’t.
"Then would you mind telling me what he said to you? I am quite curious!" she asked, tilting her head to the side, her eyes filled with curiosity.
She wanted to know if both versions were the same, or completely different.
Orson didn’t object to that. He took a deep breath and looked at Calista, whose eyes were full of curiosity at the moment and nothing else before he started narrating the version of the story that Shadow told him.
However, he started doubting himself as the more he narrated, the darker her expression became. Could it be that Shadow remembers wrongly?
He couldn’t help but look at Shadow with a query in his eyes.
