Chapter 295: Chapter 295: HER ORIGINS 2
Meanwhile, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, Calista stood with a dark expression as she looked at the cave with overgrown weeds.
After leaving Bertha’s manor, she sent the coachman away and teleported to the place where the old slave had told her about. With the stone from the cloaked sorceress, she could go anywhere and it seemed that her stone was special.
She could still use it after using it for the first time. So, she simply thought of where she wanted to go and ended up there.
Looking at the place, she wondered what her biological mother was doing when she came here. Did she come to ditch her or was she hiding her from enemies? Could it be that something happened?
She had always envied those with families. That was why she didn’t hesitate to become the villain and married her first husband. He had such a big family. She wanted to be part of it.
When he died, she thought that she might be able to hold on to that family. Unfortunately, they proved to be difficult, and she lost that family. She didn’t regret it, though. After all those children, none of them were of her deceased husband. He was cuckolded by his wife, who acted like a white lotus and made everyone believe that she was good when she was the one with a dark heart.
She wanted a family so badly; that she didn’t hesitate to kidnap morally Orson when he arrived at her place. She married him against his will, despite knowing that he might leave one day. She wanted a family desperately. She didn’t think much about anything.
All of that was caused because of the lack of familial love when growing up. The old slave did her best to raise her well and provide as much as she could afford, but was it everything?
A part of her had always longed for more and now that she finally had a chance to see where she was found, she couldn’t help but be greedy. She wanted to know more and put that stone weighing her down.
Without understanding what truly happened back then, she was afraid that she wouldn’t have rested.
In fact, Orson’s matter wasn’t that important at all than knowing the truth. Unfortunately, she couldn’t check that. She might be powerful and have several lifesaving graces, but checking the past, she was no sorceress.
Wait a minute, the sorceress could she help her?
She shook her head hurriedly. Who knows what that bastard might ask of her if she sought help? She might as well just forget it. She would try to look for some clues around here and see.
While she was busy thinking like that, Blackey licked her wrist and she blossomed into a smile.
"Darling, what is it?" she asked softly as she revealed her wrist.
Blackey raised his small head, flickering his tongue, and started hissing.
Calista’s expression changed from happy to shock and disbelief by the time Blackey was done.
She looked at him, her eyes flickering and body trembling. No one could understand the kind of emotions she was currently processing at that moment.
"You .... Darling, you can do that?" she asked excitedly, hope and anticipation in her eyes.
The small head nodded, and he hissed once again.
Calista’s eyes squinted as a smile appeared on her face.
Tears pooled in her eyes as she raised her finger to pat the small head affectionately.
"I will always remember this favor. I promise!" she vowed earnestly as she continued with her petting.
"Hiss. Hiss. Hiss."
Hearing that, Calista stopped her petting and closed her eyes as instructed.
"Child, I will hide you here for a moment. I need to go and find something to eat, as well as milk. I will be back in a moment," a female voice rang in Calista’s ears and she snapped her eyes open.
As soon as her eyes were open, Calista was welcomed by an unexpected scene. In front of her was a woman dressed in tattered clothes, but her face looked vibrant. She had this pair of amazing eyes. She made people fall for her.
With a glance, Calista could tell that the woman must have disguised herself. Otherwise, she wouldn’t look like that at all.
After the woman said that to the child bundled nicely, she checked around before slipping away. The way she was sneaking around, Calista could also see that she was doing her best not to cover her tracks.
Calista tried to follow the woman but found herself unable to. So, she could only move to the familiar cave which she recalled was the one she was checking before entering this illusion. Something that Blackey managed to do for her.
Calista knew that the woman who had just left was her biological mother and the child inside the cave should be her. She wanted to follow her mother and see where she went. If possible, look closely at her face so that after this she would go and look for her.
She wanted to know if she was still alive or had perished. She wanted to know all that. Unfortunately, she couldn’t move, so she could only go and look at the child.
Luckily, she could move towards the child. So, she went there and was froze stiff.
The little girl in the bundle looked very pretty. Just looking at her, she was reminded of her own daughter, Halona.
’It seems that my angel took after me just looking at this.’
Calista found her expression warming up as she looked at the small child who seemed to be seeing her despite being in a ghostly state. The little girl was bubbling and wasn’t making any noise. She was very obedient and Calista liked her so much.
Calista looked at her younger self with so much love and played with her like a fool, her thoughts filled with her children she hadn’t seen in days. She wondered if they were faring well.
She missed them so much and wanted to go home. When was Orson going to come?
While she was thinking about that, there were sounds of hurried footsteps and that jolted her back to reality.
Calista looked in the direction where the footsteps were coming from with anxiety. She didn’t know if it was her biological mother or something else.
However, that didn’t remain a mystery for long.
