Chapter 293: Chapter 293: A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH
She stood by the door, with her arms crossed and a mocking smile on her face.
"What did I do?" she asked sarcastically, as her lips widened, making the old lady furious.
"Stop it right now! Let go of my family. How could you_?"
Calista scoffed as she walked away from the door, saying, "You only feel pain for your children. You can’t help them yourself. No, in fact, you are a coward. You didn’t dare touch them and yet dare point at me! Aren’t you afraid that I will freeze you as well if I was the one who did it?"
"You .... Why? Why would you do something like that? Didn’t you say that you would let them go?" however, the old lady was adamant about what she wanted.
Calista shook her head as she heard that. This old lady had seen how filthy her people were and instead of being repentant, she was still clamoring and asking why she was doing this.
She raised such beasts of children who dared bully and kill others at a whim. Instead of straightening their crooked thoughts, she indulged them. When facing her, she didn’t even go on her knees to plead for mercy but dared to point fingers at her. Who did she think she was?
Calista didn’t want to waste her saliva on such a person. So, she flicked her hand and Lady Thomas, who still had so much to say to Calista, screamed as a small black snake landed on her. She was afraid of slimy and slithering beasts.
"Get away from me, you little beast!" she yelped as she darted all over the room, trying to get the snake away from her.
However, Blackey wasn’t a normal snake. So how could he be shaken away that easily?
He clung onto the lady for a while before flying back to Calista after leaving the old lady with a gift.
Lady Thomas stopped in her tracks, panting after seeing the snake flying back to Calista.
She looked fumingly at Calista, who was now wearing a cold expression on her face, and that made her shut up without saying any berating. She wasn’t a fool. She could tell that Calista was angry and if she offended her, Calista might do something to her again.
Calista looked disdainfully at the old lady and snickered while turning around to head out.
"Aren’t you unfreezing my people?" Lady Thomas, seeing Calista leaving, yelled at Calista.
Calista turned her head and snickered at her once again before saying, "You don’t need to worry about them. You should worry about yourself right now."
Upon hearing that, the old lady as she straightened herself and asked hurriedly, "What do you mean?"
"Hehe, do you remember the question I asked you when I spared your life?" Calista’s voice rang in the room but the person was long gone.
Lady Thomas recalled the question that Calista had asked her, "If you were to find yourself in a situation where you could only watch helplessly the people you care about in pain and yet you can’t do anything. What would you do?" she suddenly had a bad premonition.
"What do you mean?" she asked, yelling while running towards the door, but then she felt her body weakening.
’No, this can’t be happening!’
she cried out inwardly as her body crumbled to the floor without warning. She was feeling hot and dizzy, and everything just came to her at once. On her hand, she felt a painful sensation and when she looked at her hand, a wry smile appeared on her face as she saw the two holes.
’I have been bitten!’ she concluded.
With everyone frozen and her bitten, Lady Thomas suddenly burst into a helpless, mocking laughter as tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Haha, was this what she wanted to see?" recalling the absurd answer she gave Calista after she asked that question.
If she had known that she meant for her to suffer like this, she wouldn’t have been complacent.
She regretted it. Bringing that woman into her house, showing her favor, scolding her daughter and, above all, sending people to follow Calista.
If she had known that at the end of the day, she would be in such a state, she wouldn’t have done it at all. Unfortunately, there was nothing else she could do.
On top of that, she was the only awake person in the manor right now and the thought of dying alone .... she coughed out blood and blacked out without processing that thought.
Unknown to her, once she was out, Calista, who was supposed to be away, returned, and she didn’t look well at all.
She had spent too much time dealing with the old lady and her vitality was being drained very fast. If there wasn’t Blackey with her right now, she would have collapsed. But for the sake of making the old lady suffer a fate worse than death, this was nothing.
Seeing the old lady fainted on the ground, she kindly picked her up and put her on the bed. She looked at the woman. She could just end with a strike. She was someone she used to fear and wouldn’t dare look at, but now she was at her mercy.
"You love seeing others so helplessly and at your mercy. You love power so much and didn’t do your job to raise your children well. I am going to let you watch helplessly as this family crumbles down with your own eyes!" When did she say that she was going to show mercy?
If she did, then the listener misunderstood her. She wouldn’t kill her now, but very slowly and painfully. She was going to collect interest for all the poor people who died under her hands.
In her next life, the old lady would learn to raise her children properly and teach them to have some leadership skills. Since she loved holding onto power so much and didn’t even think about making her children hold some, she was going to love how they would be running around like headless chickens once a new day came.
As Calista left the manor, she hoped that the old lady would love her gift when she woke up the next day.
