Chapter 273: Chapter 273: TULIP TOWER

"Good day, lady. How may I be of help today?"

Calista smiled at the polite or professional receptionist and replied softly, "I want to buy some information. Do you know where I can get that?" her eyes squinting sly, making the receptionist twitch.

That was the first time she had met such a straightforward client. Other people would whisper or talk about the matter secretively, and yet this one did so directly. Wasn’t she afraid of attracting attention?

Unfortunately, Calista didn’t have any qualms about attracting trouble at all.

The receptionist, seeing how serious the other was, didn’t react negatively but professionally provided the client with an answer.

"I will directly take you there!" she volunteered, smilingly.

Calista smiled at the other and didn’t refuse such an offer. As a result, moments later, Calista followed the other as she admired the beautiful interior design of the tower, wondering what kind of information she would be able to get from this place.

It would be irking if she gets scammed by them.

It took a while and a lot of stair-climbing before she arrived on the floor where she was meeting with the broker.

There were several guards on that floor, but with the receptionist acting as the middleman, there weren’t any issues.

The receptionist whispered something to one of the females on this floor before she excused herself.

Calista was then taken to another room by that other female who didn’t talk much. In that room, she was given some snacks and beverages before she was left alone.

Meanwhile, in another room, a woman with a seductive face sat with her legs crossed as she tapped her knee while listening to a hulky man reporting to her.

"My lady, should we look into her?" the man asked a while later, after finishing his report.

The woman shook her head as she straightened her legs before rising to her feet.

"Since she dared come here with her face exposed, it means that she is not afraid. Let me see what she wants. I will decide after I see her!" she replied to the hulky man before walking away.

In that other room, Calista didn’t care why these people were taking their time. She was busy enjoying the biscuits, which tasted so delicious, that she could taste butter in them. When she tasted butter, another money-making idea popped into her mind.

Butter could be used to cook food, bake, and on bread as a spread, just like jam. She would make butter and jam once she returned as well. The food workshop would have more things to do. She was grateful for having such a solitary moment.

Besides, Blackey seemed to like these biscuits a lot, so the two of them were enjoying the snacks without too much pressure.

When the door opened a while later, Calista didn’t bother to hide Blackey, who was coiling on her hand as he enjoyed the biscuits like a human being.

That was the scene the woman who was curious about Calista came across.

The second she walked into the room and spotted that black snake, her eyes narrowed dangerously wondering what kind of bold woman this customer was to play recklessly like that with a snake. If she wasn’t mistaken, that looked like a mamba, and those kinds of snakes were venomous and dangerous.

Just one bite and the bitten wouldn’t live to tell a tale.

What kind of woman this person was?

Calista on the other hand, turned her head to look at the person who just joined her and when she saw that it was another fellow woman, she beamed at the other, her cheeks forming dimples making the woman who was wary about the snake to be slightly taken aback.

Calista didn’t bother to stand on her feet. Since the other had kept her waiting for a long time, why should she bother?

Besides, wasn’t she acting friendly already?

"Sorry to keep you waiting!" the woman, seeing that Calista wasn’t like the other customers who came to her, hurriedly said that, trying to start a conversation.

Calista beamed at the other as she answered. "It’s fine. I have enjoyed the biscuits; they are very delicious!" praising the biscuits to the fullest.

When the woman heard that, a smile involuntarily appeared on her face, but when she saw the snake enjoying the biscuits, her face twitched.

Who would have thought that the delicacy she painstakingly made would be fed to a snake?

Wasn’t this kind of snake a carnivore?

However, looking at how small the snake was again, she couldn’t help but be doubtful.

’Maybe it’s not dangerous!’ she surmised as she sat down.

Once she was seated, the woman placed her hands on top of the desk and propped them while looking at Calista and started asking, "I have heard that you want to buy information. What kind of information do you want?" and She didn’t bother to ask about names and all that.

This office wasn’t one to ask for such information. If they want something, they will find it themselves. Whoever enters the office only receives the service that he or she wants.

Calista nodded appreciatively, loving how professional these people were.

"Um. I want to know everything that has been happening in the Thomas family for the past fifteen years. From the one on the top to the slave at the bottom," Calista listed what she wanted, making the woman’s eyes flicker with confusion.

She didn’t expect that the other would come here for such kind of information. What did she want such information for? She couldn’t help but be curious. However, her curiosity was something that she could only keep to herself.

"We can get you that kind of information, but it will cost you. Do you want it?"

Calista didn’t care about the money, so she nodded. The woman quoted the price, and Calista took out a pouch from her skirt and opened it.

The woman saw a flash of gold and her eyes widened briefly as she wasn’t expecting to see someone walking around recklessly with so much gold on her person. Wasn’t this woman a bit too confident?

Calista counted several gold pieces from her pouch and gave them to the lady before storing the pouch away without even flinching or hiding. It was as if she was declaring to the other that she didn’t care, but in the woman’s eyes, all she could see and tell was how confident the other part was.

Seeing her acting like that made the woman feel wary.

’This is someone that we shouldn’t provoke!’ warning bells rang in her mind.
