Chapter 272: Chapter 272: TWILIGHT CITY 2
The soup was very creamy, and it made her mind explode with colorful fireworks every time she took a bite.
It was warm and served as the best appetizer. It made her feel very hungry, thankfully, before she finished the bowl of soup, the remaining dishes and the pot of tea arrived.
Looking at the small portions of food in front of her, she regretted ordering three dishes. However, when she looked outside and saw the several street food stalls, she gave up on ordering more.
Calista poured a cup of tea first and savored it for a while, letting the scent of the rose linger for a bit before taking a sip.
Calista had an urge to spit it out after taking a sip. As someone who was used to drinking tea with sugar, to suddenly drink one without sugar, even when it smelt great, she felt bullied too much. However, the pot of tea was expensive, and she hated wasting her money. So, she forced the damn tea down her throat.
At least, it smelt very nice. After taking more sips, the tea started tasting nice, making her calm her nerves.
Calista loved her cheese still hot as whenever she ate or bit into the cheese, it would stretch making the whole thing look funny.
So, when faced with two dishes, she opted for the ham and cheese sandwich. The sandwich was made using freshly baked bread, which looked golden. She didn’t know how they baked it, but they indeed put more effort into it.
The ham was thinly sliced, and they offered quite a lot of slices as well. They added fresh tomatoes, watercress, as well as the cheese.
The cheese seemed to have been heated. As for with what? She didn’t care as long as it tasted nice. Surely when she took a bit, she felt the crunch, and it was magic.
Calista, who had not tasted such delicacies in a very long time despite being a food enthusiast herself, squinted happily as she ate without care.
The other guests, seeing her eating, kept on taking peaks at her, swallowing saliva unconsciously, being tempted to try that dish as well.
As a result, the servers realized that there were several orders of the same dish and the contributor to that was already working on her other dish.
After eating the sandwich in a few bites, she started focusing on the banger and mash dish.
The reason why she picked this dish was that, when she saw the dish’s name, she couldn’t help but think of the same dish she saw in another world where she did a mission. The name was the same and seeing it here, she couldn’t help but wonder if the person who introduced such a dish was a transmigrator of some sort or perhaps was just a genius. After all, it wouldn’t be surprising for names to be the same despite having a multitude of worlds out there.
Another reason was the sausage itself. She had completely forgotten what it tasted like. While she was busy spoiling herself with the several dishes she still could remember, the recipe for making sausage seemed to have slipped out of her mind.
But now, seeing it again, she couldn’t help but think of another money-making idea. Her restaurant would surely go wild and popular. She just needed to work hard once this whole mission was done.
The dish had a generous portion of mashed potatoes, two pieces of sausages, gravy soup, and peas. It was quite appealing and pleasing to the eyes. She enjoyed that dish a lot.
When she wiped the plate clean, she clicked her tongue regretfully, but when she thought of how she would be living here for two weeks, a smile blossomed on her face. She was going to try all the dishes. Money was never an issue, so she was going to go out.
After finishing three dishes and half a pot of tea, Calista, who was now sensing the hot gazes on her, no longer felt like staying in the restaurant for a long time. There was a lot that needed to be seen.
So, she called for the server, asked for her bill and paid it generously while giving a tip without flinching.
The server was very happy to serve, and she was happy to be served.
With the meal taken, Calista left the restaurant and headed outside. Unlike other ladies who wore veils, Calista didn’t wear one as she found no need to hide or conceal herself.
Besides, she didn’t come all the way here to be mysterious. How could she get what she wants if she goes on that route?
After leaving the inn, Calista started walking towards another popular place in the city, Tulip Tower. The place was named like that due to the number of tulips usually found there, whether fresh or dried. The tulips were probably the owner’s favorite flowers.
The Tulip Tower was an information centre where people could buy and sell information. This was an establishment she had known before, despite being locked in that manor. Its reputation precedes it and since she wanted information, that was the right place to go. That way, she would not waste any more time doing unnecessary things.
It was a forty-minute slow walk to the tower and with her checking this and that, buying this and that, she reached the tower slightly over an hour later.
When she got there, a lot of people could be seen entering and exiting. Whilst the place was known for brokering in information, it also dealt with other things. So, it wasn’t everyone entering or exiting the place who came for information.
The tower was also known for selling beautiful jewelry pieces which cost an arm and a leg. A lot of ladies loved visiting that place quite a lot.
When she got there, Calista walked towards the reception desk where several people were being served by three beautiful ladies.
Calista waited in line patiently as she looked around while spreading her senses to check if there was anything fishy going on around there.
After checking for a while, she didn’t find anything threatening and her time to be served also arrived.
