Chapter 271: Chapter 271: TWILIGHT CITY

As she looked at the city, she had never actually seen, toured and got the best of it during the time when it truly mattered, Calista felt complicated.

’If only this place were the same as its name. Then maybe I wouldn’t be smelling the stench of corruption and evil every time I take a breath!’ she cursed inwardly as she sashayed freely, a smile on her face as if she was happy.

Twilight City was the place where she was born and raised. It was also the place where she died and was buried. Having her ashes on her made her feel at ease, but at the same time made her eager.

She was eager to uproot some evil people, and she would start from the root of the matter—that household where her life was a living hell. However, before that, she needed to find a place to settle down and gather some news.

It’s been years since she had been here, so she was lacking in many aspects.

Wherever she passed, people would look at her with curiosity, wondering where this young lady came from. Calista didn’t show any suspicious demeanor at all or panic. After spending years and decades doing missions repeatedly, she had tempered herself pretty well.

Calista shortly found a famous inn where she got a spacious room which she paid for two weeks. She didn’t know how long she would be staying in this city, but to be safe; she opted for two weeks. If she stays shorter than that, she could get her deposit. It was as simple as that.

The reason why she opted for a famous inn rather than a low-key one was to find information faster. The kind of people she used to slave for were on the top of the chain. That family was rich back then, and if it was like that until now, it meant that the descendants should be lingering around famous places like these as well.

This inn happens to have a restaurant which was famous for its potato and cheese dishes. They were very expensive, and she hoped that they were worth it.

Next to the inn, there was a restaurant which was famous for its meat dishes. From what she heard; these two establishments were from the same person. Since these two places were famous, it was only ideal for her to settle there.

Calista wasn’t in a hurry to start moving. Haste makes waste, and she didn’t want to suffer a loss.

So, after settling down, she ordered warm water and took her time to have a relaxing bath before changing into a blue and white outfit and adorning herself with matching jewelry.

Once that was done, she left her room emitting a nice fragrance which made those who passed her take a look at her twice, wondering where she purchased her scented purse.

Calista made her way to the inn’s restaurant and grabbed a table. For the sake of guests, the restaurant always keeps several tables free despite the demand of the customers who just came for the food.

Calista’s visuals were one of the best. She looked pretty and young. On top of that, she looked rich and smelled nice. That made it easier for her to attract attention and make people pay attention to her. That was the kind of effect that she wanted.

The server stood by her side, waiting patiently as she read the menu, looking for the dishes she wanted to eat.

That was her first time in that inn, so being meticulous was a must.

After flipping through the thin menu, she finally found several dishes, which were to her liking.

"I will have this ajiaco (a potato soup with regional variations), bangers and mash, a ham and cheese sandwich and a pot of rose tea," Calista calmly ordered a list of dishes, making the server tremble with excitement.

The dishes she had picked were on the expensive side of the menu, and the server would surely get rewarded for that. As for how these dishes seemed to be too much for such a young lady, the server didn’t bother with it.

After acknowledging the order, he left hurriedly, as if he were afraid that she would change her mind.

With the server gone, Calista sat at the table admiring the scenery outside while enjoying a cup of warm tea, a free complimentary for the diners.

Looking at the bustling streets, people chatting merrily and vendors selling their goods loudly, a smile involuntarily formed on her face.

’One day, my food street will become like this. It’s a matter of time!’ she couldn’t help but assure herself as she thought of the major plans she had in store for the village.

To prepare for the future of all villagers, she and the villagers already took on that fruit tree project and several fruit trees were planted all over the mountain.

She once discussed with the village chief the matter of building a guest house. That way, the customers or passersby who couldn’t enjoy the delicacies on her food street since there wasn’t any place to sleep would have somewhere to go.

With a place to sleep, Calista wouldn’t have to worry about the food street becoming popular. Maybe in the future, the village will expand, having more people joining. If things go well, maybe Cropville Village will end up becoming a town.

She didn’t know the kind of impact her projects would have on the village, but as long as they were all good, Calista wouldn’t mind.

As long as she wouldn’t be forced to move and stay elsewhere, even if the place becomes a city. She would still be happy.

While she thought of the beautiful future, which didn’t seem to have the father of her children in it, the first dish finally arrived.

She received the potato soup first and looking at the bowl full of creamy soup; she gave the server a polite smile before focusing on the bowl in front of her.

Honestly, looking at the soup, she couldn’t help but wonder why she had never thought of trying something like that before.

However, it was also good. It wasn’t like she was supposed to think of everything. There were still a lot of people out there whose brains worked perfectly well. She didn’t dare underestimate the brain power of her fellow people.

After all, it wasn’t just transmigrators who were capable of bringing changes into the world. Even ordinary people with enough motivation and a push could do wonders.
