A Love Reborn: Finding Romance Twice In One Lifetime -
Chapter 267: PREPARATIONS
Chapter 267: Chapter 267: PREPARATIONS
With Orson’s departure, Calista wasn’t in a good mood at all.
In these past few days, she had been thinking hard about what steps needed to be taken.
Without understanding some truths, she wouldn’t be able to live in peace.
When she got reborn over a decade ago, she told herself that she wouldn’t seek the path of revenge. The people who killed her made a winning, and she was just unfortunate to be born as a slave. A slave didn’t have any rights, so it wasn’t something that could be avoidable.
Even if she wasn’t beaten to death on that night, she might have suffered worse than death on another day as well.
However, meeting Shadow and finding his connection with the man she loves despite all the stubbornness she showed as well as the father of her twins, she couldn’t let the matter go without proper investigation.
After seeing Shadow and recalling how ruthless he was, if she wasn’t mistaken, the man might either come for her or deal with those people if they were still alive. She needed to make a move first to understand the truth.
The truth wasn’t to exonerate Shadow of his crimes but to be certain of Orson’s involvement. If he was directly involved in that matter, it wouldn’t matter if he was someone she loved or the father of her children.
Since he did that to her, then he deserves to suffer. She wasn’t going to let the matter go. But if he was innocent or half innocent, then she would see where to go from there. But as for Shadow, she would never forgive him, regardless of the answer.
His attitude didn’t sit well with her at all. She would rather discard such a servant than let him hang around where she could see or even think about him.
To do all that, certain preparations were needed, and her babies were first.
They weren’t even a month old, and she couldn’t wait until they were that old. If she waited, she might regret it. All the answers she needed might be gone by then.
At the same time, going where she wanted with them was too risky. She couldn’t go with them at all. That means that she would be traveling alone. Since it would be like that, more preparations would be needed.
She didn’t know how long it would take for her to finish with this matter, but she knew that it was something that would take a bit longer and not just a day’s matter.
After sorting all that, when Orson’s team left, she started running around, preparing.
Calista visited Ba Susan and had a long chat with him, which left the old man a bit sullen.
When he sent her off, he was holding a thick pouch full of money. He continued to let out a dejected sigh, making Ma Susan wonder what kind of devastating news Calista secretly shared with him.
After her chat with Ba Susan, she returned home, where she started packing her things as well as arranging things for the mammies to take care of with the kids.
She had previously bought some goats, so milk wasn’t an issue. The twins would be forced to drink that in her absence. As long as they add some of her other medicine, the kids won’t have problems.
She didn’t need much to be honest, so everything that she packed was stored in the storage ring as well as the remaining undiluted medicine she kept to herself. She couldn’t just sacrifice everything for Orson. She wasn’t that foolish.
She didn’t need to worry about the restaurant. Susan was very capable and knew what was needed and where it could be taken from.
The other two shops were the same as well.
After arranging what should be arranged, she spent time with her twins until they fell asleep that evening. With the twins finally asleep, Calista brought Whitey into the bedroom and had a chat with him.
"Whitey, I will be leaving you to guard the house. Whoever comes with ill intention, you know what to do. Don’t leave any evidence. If the servants try to play tricks, deal with them ruthlessly."
"Meow. Meow. Meow."
Calista was satisfied with Whitey’s response. She couldn’t help but add more. "Even if the servants are unruly and do anything suspicious, you know what to do!"
She gave a string of instructions to him, and it was all about safety. As long as her kids were safe and sound, she didn’t mind having more people killed. Since they have ill intentions towards her, it would only be right if they get erased from the world.
She would be doing the world a favor by doing so.
She decided to bring Blackey with her as the snake could just coil around her wrist and won’t attract any attention, unlike Whitey.
Besides, Blackey’s venom was very potent and had many uses. She couldn’t leave him home. He would be perfect for this trip.
After making the necessary arrangements, she went to bed but couldn’t sleep as she kept on looking at the twins.
She was going to miss them so much. So, no matter what she does, she should do it fast and return to them.

Meanwhile, somewhere along the road, Orson and his team were still on the road, forging ahead and in a hurry.
Riding a horse next to Shadow was Orson, and the two of them were busy planning something.
"Master, I think that it would be wise if someone or even myself returned and dealt with her. Not in that sense, but at least interrogation. We need to know what she knows and who she is!" Shadow solemnly suggested, his tone very serious.
However, Orson refused as he responded, "As much as I would like to know who she really is. If anyone goes back there, I am afraid that none of you will return. It is wiser to investigate it from another side. We just need to find the information first. Are you sure that she might be connected to what happened over twelve years ago?"
Orson just couldn’t find it making sense at all. Twelve years was so long ago. He had committed too many crimes and sins and offended too many people in a period. How was he supposed to know which was which?
Shadow, seeing that his Master was slightly confused, couldn’t help but share a bit of what he thought should be known.
