Chapter 262: Chapter 262: ARRIVAL OF THE GOODS

Time flew pretty fast, and the day she was waiting for finally arrived.

It was around afternoon when she was having a hearty lunch while the twins were busy mumbling some gibberish as they sucked on their small fists playfully now and then.

The mother and children were having a wonderful moment during this time when one of the mammies came over.

"Lady, Sir Orson wants to see you outside. He has a convoy of carriages with him."

Calista, who was in the middle of enjoying her meal, froze for a moment as her eyes flickered. However, the emotion vanished completely as she returned to normal.

"Okay, I will be out in a moment," she said as she put the spoon on the plate.

She rose to her feet, and looked at her playing children for a moment before saying to the mammy, "Look after the kids. I will be back once I am done," instructing her.

"Yes, my lady!"

After giving out a few instructions, she picked up her plate as well as the juice and made her way out.

On her way, she met one of the maids and let her hold the juice for her as she continued to eat.

She couldn’t stop midway just because she had guests. Her babies still needed to be fed.

Calista eating as she walked was quite unusual. The maids in her manor, some of them worked at noble family houses. And they have never seen someone so daring as their mistress. However, seeing her eating like that didn’t faze them that much. After all, the shocking things that were enough to send someone to the temples, they had seen it all.

So, what was eating while walking towards them?

Calista spotted Orson and the carriages as soon as she was facing the manor gates. The carriages were lining up outside the gates since no instruction had been made as to where they should go.

When she arrived, Orson was in the middle of talking with a man clad in black, wearing a half mask. From just a glance, she could tell that this man was very dangerous and the blood he had shed was way more than her and probably Orson combined.

He carried an aura of an executor and he was much colder than Orson.

If he was a nobody, he wouldn’t have been able to escort the treasures all the way here. She didn’t know where he was settled before coming here, but he came pretty fast as if he had been waiting for her to make such a call.

The more she looked at him, the more she despised him.

If only he had arrived in a month or so, wouldn’t she and Orson have more time to settle this nonsense going on between them?

He just had to arrive when things were delicate. So how could she like him?

Sensing the deadly gaze on him, the man in black turned his head to look in the direction where it was coming from. However, when he saw that face, his eyes flickered briefly, as a strange emotion flashed through his eyes, but he quickly masked it so that Orson didn’t even notice.

Orson simply noticed that his man had looked in that direction and when he followed, he spotted her. A smile involuntarily appeared on his face upon seeing her eating as she walked.

He was reminded of the simple days they spent at the tree house. She did this as well as well as eating straight from the pot.

Calista, who was approaching the duo, froze for a moment upon seeing that smile on Orson’s face. It made her body flush for a moment, recalling certain things.

Although the smile didn’t last for a long time, seeing it made her happy.

’There was hope!’ that’s what she thought as she approached closer, her dislike for the other man completely thrown out of her mind.

"Orson!" she called out to him with a smile, her hand holding the plate with ease.

It’s been ages since she called his name. It felt nice calling it.

Gudung.

Orson swallowed hard when his name was called. It’s been a long time since she called his name with such a smile on her face. It made him recall certain beautiful memories. He couldn’t help but smile back at her.

A gentleman shouldn’t slap a smiling person.

"Cali!" he called back to her; his tone very gentle.

Calista beamed brightly at that and shortly was standing a short distance from Orson and his man.

Once she was there, she took a glance at Orson without saying a word before she shifted to the other man.

Now that they were standing close to each other, Calista didn’t shy her gaze but looked very closely at the man, something stirring inside her.

"Why do I find you familiar? I think I have seen you before!" she couldn’t help but mumble as she looked at the man, especially that mask.

Where had she seen it?

The masked man flinched when he heard that, but didn’t expose himself. He maintained a straight face as if he wasn’t hearing anything.

However, Orson heard it completely clear, and he was a bit taken aback. He couldn’t help but ask, "Cali, are you mistaken?" dumbfounded by how someone who hadn’t been in this kingdom for over ten years could have crossed paths with Calista.

Calista chuckled dryly as she shifted her attention from the man to Orson and answered, "I should be. It wouldn’t make sense!" After all, if that was true, then wouldn’t that mean ..... she didn’t dare finish that thought.

Orson heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing that. It would sadden him so much if the woman he loves was an acquaintance of the man who works for him. What if they were ..... it was unbearable to even think that far.

The man sighed inwardly with relief, seeing that she had let the matter go. While looking at her, he couldn’t help but recall a certain person who looked most similar to the woman his master had chosen.

It was impossible for that person to be standing here alive unless she was a ghost.
