Chapter 260: Chapter 260: HIS CHOICE

After the guests left the village, Calista’s life changed as well.

She no longer needed to wake up early or entertain guests. She spent her time in her bedroom with the twins.

When they weren’t nursing, they would be sleeping and she would be resting. When she wasn’t resting, she would be jotting down notes. Just because she was in confinement didn’t mean that she no longer had anything to do.

Her business empire was still being run, and without her input, it would break apart.

With Ba Susan helping her on the other side, and Susan managing the restaurant and the two shops, her life was much better compared to before.

At home, she had two mammies, several maids and bodyguards who were very hard-working. The midwives who came to help her returned with the Fischer’s when they left.

While everything was going well, something else wasn’t. It was related to Orson.

She didn’t know if that conversation stimulated him or not, but he seemed to have made his choice, and honestly, she didn’t like it a bit.

It all started after the guests left.

Orson barely appeared in front of her and only showed up once alongside his favorite daughters.

Even those girls who used to come to her frequently were rather playing with Vaani or at the restaurant learning to cook from Susan.

She couldn’t see their silhouettes anywhere near her room at all. If it wasn’t because they were still taking medicine, she doubted if they would come to her at all.

It truly irked her so much, after all, no matter what grievances she has with Orson. Why was he pulling the girls?

Just because she could do anything bad due to jealousy which she doubted she would do, did he not trust her that much, that he decided to pull his kids away from her?

It was simply suffocating, and it made her feel as if she was a villain.

In addition, the way he protected his children, in her eyes, was more of a declaration that he wanted nothing to do with her. He would be with his children and hers didn’t matter.

If they mattered, he could have put in more effort. Just because she berated him. Did that mean that he should go away?

Wasn’t he supposed to come to her, coax her and probably find the middle ground so that they could work things out?

Even if her mind remains unchanged, at least, him putting in some effort would not be a problem, right?

Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to be the case.

One week after the guests left, it also marked two weeks since the birth of Halona and Ayaan. These two were no longer wrinkly, and their eyes were well-defined. Although they spent most of their time sleeping, they could see. At least that’s what she thought.

Whenever she was playing with them, these two naughty kids would follow her with their eyes, giggle and spit bubbles. They were just so cute; they made her forget a bit about Orson’s attitude towards her.

One day, she had just watched the nannies putting the twins to sleep, which had taken a while, since the twins were causing a fit.

Her head was throbbing from all the stress these kids gave her on this day, so she was planning to take a bath, change into a nice outfit, and walk around the yard. She also wanted to check on her eldest children. They should be waking up at any time soon.

However, before she could do that, she received a visitor.

When she saw the person standing by the door, a wave of emotions hit her. She didn’t know why he wanted to come to her on his own accord like that. It scared her.

However, she wasn’t one to show fear, so she remained nonchalant and dismissed the nannies from the room before beckoning him into the room.

Orson walked into the room and sat on one of the several chairs in the bedroom with a solemn expression. Very difficult to read.

Calista sensed that the other obviously didn’t want to remain in the room for long and she didn’t want him to remain in the room as well. As a father, he didn’t even look at his own children but walked in with such a face as if they owed him something. How dare he?

Calista felt like wasting time to entertain such a person would only bring losses. So, she asked without further ado. "Why are you here and what do you want?" getting straight to the point.

Orson’s heart pangs when he saw how cold she was. It was as if she didn’t want him here. In the week he wasn’t active and kept his distance. He expected her to, at least .... Unfortunately, it was just his wishful thinking.

"The person bringing your things will be here by tomorrow," he answered her, his tone cold as he looked at her expressionlessly though inwardly. He wanted to see how she would react.

Badum. Badum. Badum.

Her heart thumped wildly when she heard that. The arrival of the goods meant that he would be leaving. And with the words she had said angrily to him, and with how he had been acting, it means that she won’t be seeing him again.

She didn’t know what to think when she heard that, but as a prideful person; she didn’t dare show that.

So, she replied nonchalantly, as if it didn’t matter. "Oh~ that’s good then. I guess since he is coming, you will be packing your things and getting ready to leave?" her tone was icy when she asked that.

Orson’s eyes flickered mysteriously, an urge to shake Calista and ask her why she was being stubborn and doing this overwhelming him, but he toned himself down.

No matter what, he mustn’t do anything rash. That might only backfire.

He needed to think straight without her influence. Only then could he find the answer that he truly seeks.

He shouldn’t give in to her angry bursts. She wanted him to mess up. He couldn’t let her win.

"Um. It’s been a while since we were gone. We need to return," he truthfully answered.

As much as it would be nice to deal with their current problems. Getting back to the island was a matter of great importance. A lot of lives were at stake.

Calista’s brow rose when she heard that she let out an, "Oh~~" as if she was expecting that.

Hearing her lazy response, that urge returned to him again, but he suppressed it completely.
