Chapter 259: Chapter 259: FAREWELL

The two, unaware of what the others were thinking, were locked in a hug for a while before they separated. Once they were separated, Hayes said to Calista, "Don’t do anything that would make you feel uncomfortable. Follow your heart and do whatever you want. If anything goes wrong, I, your brother, am here. I will shoulder the burden for you. You have done so much for me and taught me so much, I will never forget. Because of you, I learnt what being happy was all about. You taught me to be myself and I no longer need to hide it. I don’t want to see you living in a shell. Be happy always and that starts by doing what you like.

If you feel like getting back with him will make you feel miserable, then don’t do it. You can still love someone without being together with him. If it doesn’t really work out no matter how you solve it, then move on.

You have your kids and so many people around you who care. So, you are no longer alone. And if it comes a day when you want to settle in the future, find a man who cherishes you as you are. A man who won’t compare you to anyone else. A man who will have you in his eyes and no one else."

He spoke all these words in earnest. Although it was unfortunate that he couldn’t be with Calista as he hoped, he wasn’t particularly sad. Being siblings and being able to talk naturally about such matters and be the closest people, even more than the father of her children, he was content with this.

He wanted her to be happy and be with the person she loves and who loves her back. He knew that Calista loved Orson badly, and he had feelings for her as well. The only problem was that he was unwilling to let go and open his heart wholeheartedly, whilst Calista was not willing to give an inch.

Although both of them have issues, he was biased. So, all the fault was on Orson, and there was nothing that he could do about it.

Calista smiled through her tears as she listened to these encouraging words. The words that struck a chord in her heart. She loved hearing them so much; she felt much lighter after sharing her story with someone else.

Unfortunately, this beautiful moment was cut short as the furious voice of Madam Fischer rang in their ears.

"Are you guys not done?"

And the two separated right away.

’There she goes again!’ Calista thought sheepishly as she looked in the direction of the furious godmother.

"Ignore her. She is just jealous!" Hayes arrogantly said as he took her hand in his before gently pulling her towards the ladies.

Calista chuckled heartily when she heard that. She could only follow.

Madam Fischer rolled her eyes at these shameless siblings but didn’t say another word.

With everything ready, there was no need for the guests to linger longer at the manor any more. Their journey was long and, like they say, ’an early bird catches the first worm.’

Calista escorted Madam Fischer to her carriage first as they talked.

"You are now a mother. Remember to take care of yourself. Even if it’s not for yourself but think about the children." Madam Fischer was greatly worried about Calista’s mischief. At her age, she was considered a middle-aged woman and yet her heart and mind were that of a teenager.

Her playfulness was too much, and she worried that one day it might cause issues for the kids.

Calista nodded seriously as she listened to that. She was an adult and being a mother change things. She won’t do anything that jeopardizes her kids’ safety.

After promising her godmother several things, she went to the other carriages to say her farewell.

Leeshay, Diana, and Faith. These three were also leaving and it would be a while before she sees them again.

After hearing the same thing repeatedly, Calista just wanted them to leave now. Her ears were about to deafen because of them.

Once she had said her farewells to the ladies, she turned to face the brothers who were on the horses. She looked at Jeremy first and said to him, "Thank you for coming this side, despite how busy you are. On your way, please do take care of others. And above all, keep him in line!" her gaze shifting to Hayes.

Jeremy chuckled lightly when he heard the last part. "Don’t worry, nothing will happen to them. And I will make sure that he is in line. If he doesn’t listen, I will send you a letter."

When she heard that, she grinned widely and looked at the sullen Hayes with triumph.

"I will have your word for it."

She didn’t forget to say something to Hayes as well, and once all farewells were given, she watched as the convoy of carriages started moving.

It was still dark, however, with so many people leaving, it no longer felt like that.

She stood by the gate as she watched the carriages leaving until they could no longer be seen.

"Ha, they are gone. Back to be alone again!" she laughed deprecatingly, a sad smile hanging on her lips as she looked at the cloud of dust the carriages left behind briefly before she turned around and headed inside.

Why bother to continue looking as if they would come back?

She might as well go and freshen herself. That way, when the babies awaken, her body wouldn’t be cold.

Calista didn’t see that Orson was present since he left before the carriages left.

So, she was clueless about the fact that two people knew about her conversation with Hayes.

All she knew was that she felt much lighter and was looking forward to adjusting to the changes.

Unbeknownst to her, Orson, after leaving the manor, went to look for Ba Susan and his wife. Those two understood Calista the most.

When he arrived at the village chief’s house, he took a deep breath.

He didn’t know what kind of reception he was going to get once they knew that it was him. But he needed to do it. Otherwise, he was going to lose her forever.

At least with the elders’ advice, he might find ways to break through.
