Chapter 250: FAREWELL DINNER
Chapter 250: Chapter 250: FAREWELL DINNER
Later that evening, everyone gathered inside the main living room, with food served at the table.
The room was full of cheer and laughter as the host and the guests dined and shared their last moments together.
"I don’t know when I will be able to come back here again, but I will miss this place," Leeshay emotionally said as she raised the cup of wine to the people gathered, her gaze fixated on Calista, who was holding a cup with juice.
Calista beamed as she looked at the friend who had accompanied her for years and cheered to her, "Friend. Whenever you feel like dropping by. Just do so. When I miss you, I will come over. Why act as if we are separated by seas and oceans?" she teasingly asked, earning a chuckle from Leeshay.
"Indeed. If we miss each other, visit or write letters. There is indeed no need to act like we are being separated by death!" Leeshay said, toasting Calista back.
Seeing that the other had understood, Calista smiled knowingly at her.
Although they didn’t visit each other as much as they could, that wouldn’t erase the friendship that they had forged over the years.
Besides, who said that people could only be friends if they see each other all the time?
Even friends need space as well.
"Cali, you must not forget me when you make more products," Diana chirped as she raised her cup at Calista.
As a merchant, she needed goods to sell. And Calista’s products were one of the best she had ever seen. It would be wasteful if she missed them in the future.
Calista toasted at Diana answering, "Don’t worry. I won’t forget you. You just need to send a letter or a messenger. As long as I know the quantity of what you want, then I will keep them for you," promising the other.
Having regular customers to buy from her was good. And since they all knew each other, the risk of dealing with bad merchants would be reduced.
"That’s good!"
Calista chuckled lightly before drinking her juice and eating several spoonsful of food, before clearing her throat, attracting everyone at the table’s attention.
"Ahem .... Ahem," Calista cleared her throat as she looked at everyone present and managed to get their attention.
"I am sorry for interrupting your meal, everyone. Let me say a few words, after all, tomorrow all of us won’t be here together," she said, feeling a bit melancholic.
Once again, the people who surrounded her and had accompanied her for a period were leaving again.
The manor, which used to be full of people and endless chatter, would return to being quiet. But she needed to get used to it. After all, it wasn’t like her family was big from the start.
She looked at the men and women who had accompanied her for weeks and days with gratitude and said, "It’s been a wonderful moment having all of here with me. You stood by me during my trying times. When I couldn’t do much, you were there by my side and I thank you for that.
However, as they say, we meet to part and part to meet. I know that this is just temporary and, in the future, we will be seeing more of each other. Nevertheless, for now, I guess this is why we say farewell.
I hope that when you leave tomorrow, may the grace of the deities be upon you. May you be protected and have safe travels. That way we can meet again in the future ....."
Calista didn’t have much to say to the friends who were gathered with her. She just wanted to portray her emotions and let the people who had traveled from afar to be with her know how much she appreciated their presence and everything that they had done for her.
"Hehe, Cali, you are our friend and sister. And as such, this is nothing. We are glad to be of help."
"That’s true. It’s not you only who gained from all this, but we as well. Thanks to you, we learnt so much of what we didn’t know and even got to meet and make more friends," Faith said as she looked at Leeshay and others.
Without Calista, how could she be acquainted with the others? Especially the Fischer family.
Never forgetting the scary side, Calista showed them. She was even more determined to remain friends with Calista after seeing what she was capable of.
"As you mentioned earlier, we meet to part and part to meet. We will soon be together, so don’t overthink much," Madam Fischer said softly as she looked at Calista with motherly love.
Calista beamed when she heard that. She looked at this woman who had become more of a mother to her in the week she had been here.
Although everything stemmed from Hayes, she was grateful that the other looked at her that way and didn’t disdain her. Though she would kick anyone who would do such a thing to her. How dare a person disdain her in her home?
She wouldn’t tolerate such a thing at all.
The atmosphere was lively and, with everyone sharing their touching thoughts; it became sentimental.
The more people talked, the more time ticked by and dinner was also coming to an end.
For Calista, a nursing mother, the twins would awaken at any moment and would be wanting milk. It was time to say goodnight to everyone present, but before that; she had something to give out.
Calista looked at Diana since she was the person she wanted to deal with and said, "Before I retire for the night, there is something that I need to say or rather give," while fishing out the book she had written before from her clothes.
When the book was taken out, the women’s eyes all lit up as they recognized the book.
Calista, seeing that, smiled, feeling glad that the book she had spent so much effort on was that much anticipated.
The feeling was quite special.
