Chapter 248: Chapter 248: MEETING ON A NARROW ROAD

"Madam, you should understand that Calista is a tough nut to crack. If she remains idle for long, I don’t even want to imagine what craziness she would come up with. Let her go out and have fun. There is no way that she would be hurt," seeing Madam Fischer’s anger, Leeshay, who had known her the longest as well, spoke on behalf of her friend.

When Madam Fischer heard that, glared at Leeshay. How could she side with Calista at a time like that?

"You_"

Before she could express her thoughts, Diana, who had been quiet, suddenly exclaimed excitedly, "My goddess! Is that Sir Orson?" asking while pointing at the taller man who had just come out from the village walking with the two girls.

When the group heard that, all eyes were suddenly on the front.

Seeing the two were still locking arms, Madam Fischer started having a headache.

Although Orson’s position in Calista’s heart didn’t seem to be high like her son’s. That didn’t erase that the man there was quite famous for many reasons.

What would her son do if Orson didn’t like what was happening?

Would he trick her son and cause him great damage?

After all, he was someone who could pull someone from the jaws of death and, at the same time, send the person to meet the deities of death as well.

"Hurry! Let’s go and catch up with them!" Madam Fischer urged as she started increasing her pace.

No matter what, she wasn’t going to let any drama unfold over there.

Meanwhile, on Calista’s side. Everything was going well.

While being escorted by Hayes, the sneaky gentleman, she had kids who surrounded her asking her this and that. She was just excited to chat with these kids.

In the future, her own kids would be running around with their peers. She couldn’t wait.

However, as they were nearing the fork which goes to the village and headed towards the river and the factory, a person she hadn’t seen in the morning appeared from nowhere, taking her by surprise.

’How come he appeared like a ghost?’ her face was dark as she looked at Orson, whose expression was darker than hers.

With a glance, she could tell that the man was eating sour grapes and drinking vinegar.

But did that concern her?

Ignoring Orson, who was obviously looking for trouble, a smile blossomed on her face as she spotted the two sisters, her children’s siblings.

"Girls! There you are!" she called out happily, her eyes smiling into crescents as her other hand opened for the girls.

The girls took a look at their angry father for a moment before they rushed towards their stepmother, calling happily, "Mother! You are finally out!" happy to see that she was no longer confined to her room anymore.

Hayes, seeing the girls running towards Calista, gentlemanly unhooked his arm to let Calista embrace the girls well.

As for Orson, what was there to fear?

Although he earned her forgiveness, the two couldn’t be said to be back together yet. They were still working towards reconciling. Which means that it might even fail in the process.

As her brother, he wanted the best for her. And Orson honestly, despite how great the man was in everything, was too mysterious and dangerous for her.

On top of that, the man didn’t live on the same continent. How could their relationship work?

He didn’t want to see her leaving this wonderful place to be placed on some battlefield just because she wanted to be with him.

Being with Orson was the same as being a widow.

He didn’t trust him with her.

Besides, even if Orson in his mind right now, seeing how he was giving him that murderous glare, wanted to deal with him, he would have to see if she could allow it.

Although he wasn’t one to boast, he could proudly say that among all the male acquaintances of Calista, he was her favorite. If he wanted to deal with her, then he would have to face the consequences from Calista.

Meanwhile, Orson watched Hayes, who he thought had become closer in the period they had gotten acquainted with each other, being mushy with his woman.

He wanted to go over there and yank him away. However, seeing how confident he was, especially when looking at him provocatively, he knew that he would be the one losing if he tried something.

Calista had proven that already the moment she didn’t seem bothered by his appearance while hooking arms.

At the same time, when he thought of doing something, fully aware that nothing would ever happen between the two, he held himself back.

On the other side, Calista was holding the two girls’ hands as she marched forward, ignoring the men.

What were men where there were cute girls to hang around with?

On top of that, there were the other kids to play with as well. The adults they might as well deal with each other.

She had a lot to catch up on with the kids.

Watching her leaving the men alone with the kids, Madam Fischer felt like dragging Calista to deal with the mess.

However, when they reached Orson and Hayes, she heaved with relief when she overheard what these two were talking about.

She wasn’t the only one like that, as the others felt the same as well.

From a distance, they nearly thought that a fight was going to break out. Thankfully, it didn’t seem to be serious.

"Rather than be angry at me, why don’t you think about what you aren’t doing?" in a calm tone, Hayes asked Orson, who seemed to have lost his brains somehow.

At first, he wants to stand firmly and watch as Orson gets pierced in the heart and suffers because of jealousy, yet is unable to solve the dilemma.

However, when Orson suddenly caught him unaware with a question, "How do I make her treat me like she treats you?" it finally dawned on him that this man might have a long way to go.

He couldn’t help but feel pity for him.

Maybe he should help him a bit. As for whether he would be able to catch her heart again wholly, he would leave it to fate.

However, he believed in his sister. This time, she wasn’t playing.

Orson might need to shed several layers of skin before he could win her.

Unbeknownst to him, Orson’s journey was indeed about to become one filled with obstacles.

His crow mouth worked perfectly.

And the quiet world was about to turn red.

And the people to be involved had no idea.
