Chapter 245: Chapter 245: A WRITING CAREER

Calista after chasing away Orson and the girls, since she needed space to think about Diana’s suggestion and how it might impact her future projects if she takes on this assignment, was lost in her thoughts.

If she writes a book, no matter how big or small it is, it would be her name on the cover. People might end up being curious about her and so forth, and that might disturb her normal life. Something that she didn’t want to see happening.

There was a reason why she picked such backwards villages in the first place.

Although she had opened a factory and her name spread everywhere, at least in her district and surrounding ones, it hadn’t reached the point of making her attract some big family’s attention just yet. So, she was safe.

If she wanted to write and not be subjected to scrutiny or too much interference in the future, then there was only one way to do it; use a pseudonym when she writes.

Instead of putting her name, Calista Solace, out there, she would use a nickname. With a nickname, she could also write novels and provide the rich madams and young misses some entertainment.

Of course, for serious books, she would use a different pseudonym and for novels, a different one.

As for plagiarists, she would deal with that problem when it arises.

Diana would be leaving in two days, so she needed to write the book during this time.

There wasn’t much to write anyway, so she decided to write something completely different and yet still align with what Diana wanted.

Seeing that there wasn’t much time to waste, and she didn’t have anything to do at the moment, she decided to hit the iron whilst it was hot.

Without anyone to bother her or nitpick on her, she gracefully climbed down the bed and walked towards the cabinet where her stationery was.

She picked up a book and some pens before returning to the bed.

After tucking herself and putting a lot of pillows behind her back for comfort, she opened the book and started writing.

[THE JOURNEY TO MOTHERHOOD.]

That was the topic she picked, or rather the title of the book she would be writing.

Before a woman breastfeeds, she would have to be pregnant first. So, she decided to write a book dedicated to all females.

She would be writing about the signs and symptoms of pregnancy. What women should do once they suspect that they are pregnant? And when they confirm that they are pregnant, what measures should be taken?

She was going to write down what she also went through, the testimonials from other women she came across and the public knowledge she learnt when she came across the issue of breastfeeding.

There was so much that a woman should beware of, and take note of, when pregnant. She also hoped that with her book, she would be able to reduce cases of newborn mortality.

Babies are dying every single day, and some of the problems are caused by a lack of knowledge. These kids weren’t easy to bring to the world. She had experienced that.

Since she got the knowledge, she was going to share it. Who knows, she might save a kid or two.

With that in mind, Calista entered working mode. And once she started something that she felt passionate about, she wasn’t someone who would give up easily.

So, when it was time for dinner, when Madam Fischer, Leeshay and Diana came to check up on her, give her the food and see how the babies were doing, they were quite shocked when they saw her concentrating so much.

"How long do you think she had been writing?" Leeshay gasped as she looked at the thicker side of the book that had been written.

Diana shook her head, her mouth wide open in disbelief at what she was seeing.

Wasn’t she talking to Calista a few hours ago?

How come she wrote so much in such a short time?

Was she still writing about breastfeeding?

Nonetheless, regardless of whether she was busy or not, it was time to eat and, unfortunately; they were forced to disturb her.

Calista wasn’t upset when she was disturbed, but rather she felt relieved.

Because she was so engrossed in the book, she nearly forgot about her meals and now that she had stopped writing, the growling of her belly sounded pretty much louder in her ears.

The food was brought to her, and seeing another nutritious meal, her smile widened.

"Cali, are you writing about the earlier matter of breastfeeding?" curious about what she was writing, Leeshay asked.

Nom, nom, nom.

Calista was in the middle of munching on an egg when Leeshay asked about that.

She simply hummed, nodded and concentrated on her food.

Seeing the book in plain sight, Leeshay picked it up and, seeing no rejection from the eating writer, the three ladies kindly borrowed the book and left the room under Calista’s burning gaze.

With them gone, however, Calista could finally eat in peace without being disturbed. Lunch was hard to eat because these women were at her throat, harassing her about her breastfeeding issues.

With the book in their hands, they could leave her alone for a bit and she could take this time to eat to her heart’s content.

Meanwhile, after taking the book, the three went to the living room and huddled on one sofa before starting to read the book from the start carefully, since the ink hadn’t dried that much yet.

[Being born female and being a woman is not a curse or being jinxed. Rather, a woman is a blessed human being. Otherwise, the deities wouldn’t have bothered to create them.

Women were given gifts and abilities that even men couldn’t do. With our bodies, we get to ...]

Just reading the first part, the three women felt emotional and couldn’t help but relate.

Society tends to look down on women so much that when a baby girl is born, there isn’t that much happiness one expects to celebrate the arrival of a new life.

Whenever they look at female children, especially in villages, they would be seeing an extra mouth which was born to suck the family dry.

Just because when a girl grows up and marries another family, the family finds it a waste to raise that girl properly.

All children are gifts from the deities and should be celebrated. There is a reason why a family can have only girls but not a single boy. Just like how other families don’t have a single girl but have boys only.

Everything always happens for a reason. The deities aren’t fools and they would compensate every person according to what is owed to him to her.

So, reading a book which showcased that in the early pages, the women were touched and couldn’t help but be certain that this book was going to change a lot of lives.

After all, it wasn’t just motivational but was full of insightful teachings and examples of a woman going through motherhood.

Although the pages looked many on the surface, since the book was captivating and made them engrossed, it didn’t take much longer before they were done.

"I regret reading it before it was finished. Now I need to wait for goodness how long before I can finish it," Diana lamented as she rubbed her hands on her face, feeling regretful for being too curious.

Who knows when the book is going to be finished?

She wasn’t alone, as the other two were thinking the same as well.

As for the culprit, the food that had been brought to her was almost finished and feeling sleepy.

In other words, the curious ladies would have to wait until tomorrow to see the ending.

As for when tomorrow that would depend on the writer’s speed as well.

They were in for a restless night.
