A Love Reborn: Finding Romance Twice In One Lifetime -
Chapter 239: YOU HAVE WORKED HARD!
Chapter 239: Chapter 239: YOU HAVE WORKED HARD!
The two looked at each other for a while, with no one saying a single word. After god knows how long, Orson exhaled a deep breath and said to her, "You have worked hard, Cali. Thank you!" his gaze fixated on her, as he oozed with sincerity.
He had seen how much Calista endured during labor. As one of the people who knew about the spiritual energy present, he had seen how the babies were sucking her spiritual energy, which had caused all the delay and the unexpected consequences which forced Whitey and Blackey to come out in their true forms.
If it wasn’t for those two, even if he was to inject his spiritual energy into her, he doubted he could have saved the day.
Although there are other means of letting a woman deliver safely, for example, operating on her, it wasn’t guaranteed that she might survive.
Besides, he didn’t have the necessary medicine with him. He had no clue that she was pregnant when he started the journey. Even if he took the medicine that her friend had brought her, they weren’t suitable for ensuring her safe delivery.
Thankfully, the two beasts were loyal and would never leave their mistress in a ditch.
If it wasn’t for her will and perseverance as well, who knows if he might have been talking to her now?
Calista felt her heart getting trickled by just listening to his words. She didn’t need anyone to tell her or remind her how much she had worked hard, rescue she knew how hard she worked back there.
She nearly met the grim ripper and, thinking about that, her heart turned cold for a second. But when she thought of the two blessings she brought into the world, the people who worriedly guarded her throughout the ordeal without caring about custom and everything, her heart warmed up.
And when she looked at this man who returned with only his girls in heart now warmed up to her and, being concerned about her only, that statement didn’t seem to be bad at all.
He would always remember that moment for the rest of his life. How she nearly met her maker because she wanted to bring his children into the world.
And when she thought of the confession he made before the door was closed, her smile widened as she looked at him with more affection than before.
"Thank you!!" she couldn’t help but say genuinely, her eyes twinkling with immense joy and gratitude.
It wasn’t just about his worry or his confession, but for everything.
If it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t have given herself another chance to fall in love and get married. If it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t have received two blessings that would forever call her mom. She finally gave birth to children who now belonged to her and would become part of her family. A family that she lacked.
Because of him, when he left, she managed to open her heart to other people. As a result, she was able to reunite lost families; she got new friends and reunited with old ones.
So much happened in the nine months, however, she was glad now rather than upset.
Everything always happens for a reason; she was learning that now.
Just like how that damned sorceress loves sending people to her. There is a reason why Calista returned to her.
Rather than evading fate and trying to be headstrong, she might as well follow her heart and be happy.
She wanted a complete family. Even if they had to live separately in the future, the thought of having a father, mother and siblings, Calista, wanted it all.
People make mistakes. She also makes mistakes. So, who was she to judge?
That’s what she thought the second she heard his confession earlier.
"I know that I am not perfect and a lot of things have happened between us. But can you give me a chance? I want us to start over again and be a family. I will do everything I can to make that happen. So, can you think about it?"
She didn’t know what came over him to suddenly say those words when her body was being torn apart. However, she found herself answering at that time, "If I make it out alive, I will consider your proposal!"
And there she was, alive and kicking.
Didn’t that mean that she needed to abide by the promise that she made?
She couldn’t help but find this situation so much to her liking.
He was the one who said it first and she would be just going with the flow.
This time, it wasn’t her confessing, but the other way round.
How could she keep a blind eye?

The two were locked in a passionate gaze, without saying any other words. However, as if they had telepathy, both had smiles on their faces.
And when Ma Susan came into the room with Madam Fischer with the food, they both came across such a sizzling scene.
What happened when they were out?
"Ahem~" the two ladies cleared their throats, startling the two who were engaged in a fiery eye battle.
Calista’s face flushed as she looked away, embarrassed about being caught in such a manner. However, Orson wore a smile after collecting himself.
He was so happy.
He didn’t need to hear her saying any word, as he knew that gaze very well. He was her husband for months and could respond to her every action without her saying a word.
The fact that she managed to open her heart to him again, the iciness on his face, vanished.
He was like a fake version of the godly doctor whom everyone knew about.
The two ladies saw the relationship between the two to seem to have improved. They were both happy and relieved.
It was pleasing to see a family being united. Since they both love each other, it was best to give them space and let them cultivate their feelings more.
With that in mind, the two handed the food over to Orson and sternly instructed him to let Calista eat everything on the plate without fail.
After doing so, they both left the room and kindly closed the door so that no one would disturb them.
The two who had been left in the room broke out into laughter as soon as the adults were gone. Their situation was awkward and funny at the same time, they couldn’t help it.
However, they didn’t laugh for long as one of the twins whimpered, scaring the new parents into silence.
How did they forget that there were kids in the room?
The two dumbfoundedly looked at each other before showing wry smiles.
They both had the same thought at this moment.
It was going to be hard to get used to. However, they were going to adapt until they made it.
After all, no one was born a great parent.
They all learnt to become one. And with more practice every day, they would become superb parents.
It was just a matter of persistence and perseverance.
As Calista looked at the man sitting across her, a smile blossomed on her face as she thought to herself, ’And with him by my side. What more do I have to fear?’
Unfortunately, she wasn’t prepared for what was to come.
Fate has many means of playing with one’s emotions, after all.
That’s what the cloaked sorceress thought as she looked at the beautiful picture of the couple alongside the twins who had just been born.
Will they be able to break the chains that tied them, pass the obstacles ahead of them and get what they want?
Her eyes flashed a mysterious red as her lips curled into a playful smirk.
’I can’t wait to see how they will handle it! It’s going to be interesting!’ she thought to herself before vanishing into thin air as if she wasn’t there in the first place.
