A Love Reborn: Finding Romance Twice In One Lifetime -
Chapter 238: A HAPPY MOTHER!
Chapter 238: Chapter 238: A HAPPY MOTHER!
’I did it!’ Calista foolishly grinned as a meticulous Ma Susan tucked her in bed.
To think that she could give birth to two children. The first of their kind in the eight districts just after experiencing ten years of being called a hen that can’t lay eggs. She just wanted to shove the babies into the faces of those people.
Who said that her womb was cold and couldn’t do anything?
Did they ever give birth to twins before?
Just look at how ruddy those two babies are and they dare point fingers at her.
The more she thought about it, the more her eyes crinkled and a soft chuckle escaped her mouth, making Ma Susan glare at her.
Seeing the familiar glare, Calista shrunk her neck as she laid down obediently.
It’s been a while since she gave birth, and yet she hadn’t rested.
It wasn’t like she could just nap just because she was supposed to. With the babies out of her belly, all the sleepiness she used to have completely vanished.
Besides, she drank the medicine. So how could her body be in pain?
The panic completely vanished the second she took a sip of the medicine.
It could be said that she was completely healthy and could go around the village for several rounds and yet suffer nothing.
However, when facing Ma Susan and her enthusiastic friends and acquaintances, she could only do as they wished.
Besides, the babies were in the same room as her. What’s there to fear?
"I don’t care what’s in your mind right now, but rest for me. You hear me?" Ma Susan threateningly said as her eye narrowed into slits, emitting a dangerous vibe.
Calista facing such a scary version of Ma Susan could only reluctantly nod her head. Who made the other her elder?
Seeing Calista being obedient, Ma Susan’s wrinkly face smiled. It wasn’t every time that Calista listened, so having her acting like this, she felt that maybe the confinement period wouldn’t be so difficult at all.
However, since she couldn’t sleep, Ma Susan couldn’t force her. As long as she was well rested, she could naturally sleep.
After tucking her in, Ma Susan said to her, "I will go and have food prepared for you. Don’t play any tricks while I am gone!" in a serious tone before leaving in a hurry.
Talking about food, her stomach growled already looking forward to the food.
As far as she was concerned, during confinement, pregnant women tend to be fed with eggs and chicken. More protein and fruits and vitamins.
She didn’t know what they were going to make, but she was craving some chicken. A full pot of ginger chicken would suffice. The thought of tearing the chicken from its body and eating it all up. Saliva pooled in her mouth.
They probably wouldn’t give her just soup, right?
That would be too much.
While thinking about food, the door to the room was slightly knocked and before she could respond to the person knocking, the door was opened.
She didn’t know who was so daring, but when she saw the person, her eyes twitched as she recalled something.
He was here!

Orson stepped into the room, and it smelled just like her. Her scent filled the whole room. He had missed being in such a place with her alone.
She wasn’t alone per se since the two babies were sleeping soundly in the cribs on the other side of the room.
However, the fact that there were just two adults reminded him of the old times.
"How are you feeling?" Orson worriedly asked as he sat on the stool across from where she was sleeping.
It’s been a while since she delivered. Although he knew that her body was fine, he couldn’t help but be filled with worry again.
Calista smiled at him genuinely when he was talking.
She couldn’t help but feel touched when she recalled how his eyes had been on her ever since he walked into the room.
Unlike some people who put more emphasis on the kids, in his eyes, there was probably her.
She was even more satisfied with him when she recalled how his happiness didn’t increase a level upon knowing that he finally got a boy.
She understood men in this era a lot. They favored boys more than girls. They would continue taking on wives until a boy was conceived.
However, Orson seemed different. She had seen the way he treated his daughters, and it made her envious. She also hoped that he would treat her kids the same.
Of course, there was her. How could he treat the kids well and ignore her?
So, when she saw his undivided attention on her, her liking for the man increased.
Who made him her type?
The man she fell for at first sight and never forgotten, even after all the mess he left her in.
Love was truly something else. She realized.
"I am doing okay. Just a bit hungry," she answered truthfully.
Orson was expecting a different kind of answer. Women sometimes tend to act weak to garner attention from men. Although he knew that she was fine, he was expecting such a weak response. But who would have known that Calista’s spots had never changed?
He couldn’t help but chuckle heartily as he playfully tapped her nose, doting in his eyes.
"Don’t worry. The kitchen is already preparing the food. Soon you would be eating," he answered her, affection laced in his tone, recalling how the smoke was rising from the kitchen from the moment that she got into labor.
When she heard that food was being prepared already, her eyes shone brightly, like diamonds.
Orson, seeing that, couldn’t help but inwardly think how, despite being in her twenties, Calista still acted like a child at times.
Of course, he would ignore most of the times that she acts in ways that would make everyone steer clear of her as if she were a plague.
"That’s good! That’s good!" she happily exclaimed twice.
Orson softly chuckled as he looked at her.
