Chapter 236: GOING INTO LABOR
Chapter 236: Chapter 236: GOING INTO LABOR
"Relax. Take a deep breath and push! The baby is coming. Don’t give up!"
Calista’s ears were buzzing as she lay on the bed, gritting her teeth as she pushed as much as she could.
If she had known that childbirth was this painful. She might have delayed a bit or watched others and gauged the painful moment she would be going through. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
Being in labor and surrounded by these professional midwives who wanted nothing but to see her deliver safely, she also felt that she was lucky. Unfortunately, they couldn’t share the pain she was enduring at that moment.
What truly infuriated her was how her spiritual energy was being siphoned from her body by that naughty child who was doing its best to not come out easily.
To her, it wasn’t about having the inability to push the child out even after suffering for a while, but the kid seemed to want to suck everything out of her before leaving her body.
She was helpless. She couldn’t even tell these people what she was going through and could only bite her tongue and do her best to punch the baby out before it killed her.
The midwives were having problems as well. They could see the baby was truly coming, but no matter how much the mother pushed, the baby was being stubborn and not coming out.
If the baby doesn’t come out after a certain period, dire consequences would happen. They didn’t come all the way here to watch a tragic situation happening. They didn’t even dare guess the consequences of anything happening to Calista at that moment.
Outside the room, everyone was pacing up and down, feeling very anxious. It’s been a very long time since Calista was taken into the room and yet there haven’t been any signs of the child coming out.
Orson wanted to go in, but Madam Fischer stopped him. Because he was the child’s father, she was afraid that by him going inside there, he might be affected by emotions.
Orson was frustrated when he heard that he couldn’t help but ask angrily, "Then do you expect me to just watch here without doing anything when I can actually go inside there and help her out?"
The more he thought about that, the angrier he became. He clearly recalled the promise Calista made to him before the door was closed.
If anything were to happen to her, he would never be able to forgive himself.
Madam Fischer didn’t respond to Orson but worriedly looked towards the door. She believed that Calista was strong and nothing would happen to her.
While she was thinking like that, a flash of light suddenly passed her and before she could react, the door opened and screams rang from the room.
"What’s happening?" Madam Fischer nervously asked as she ran into the room, forgoing the customs that she had been talking about.
It wasn’t just her but Orson, Ma Susan and Hayes who had been held by Jeremy, being all weak with the stress of something happening to Calista during this scary moment.
When these people entered the room wondering what had just happened, they all froze as they watched something scarier than someone dying in labor or battle.
The midwives were huddled in the corner, while Calista weakly lay on the bed with a doting smile on her face as two monstrous beasts surrounded her, emitting a strange light which blocked all of them from approaching.
Madam Fischer, who was one of the first people to barge in the room, was shaking with fear as she looked especially at a familiar beast she liked to play with the most.
’Was this Whitey?’ she felt as if the world was fooling her.
Whitey stood majestically on the floor, his big head nuzzling Calista, who seemed to be regaining her energy. As for the big snake coiling on the floor with its big head on the other side, she didn’t dare look at it. It was too scary.
On the other hand, Jeremy, who had never seen this before, held Hayes tightly as his eyes narrowed dangerously, thinking of how to deal with this matter and probably save Calista.
However, Orson patted his shoulder, making him look at the other. When he saw the relief expression on Orson’s face, he couldn’t help but ask in wonder, "Do you know what’s going on there?"
Orson smiled helplessly as he sensed the surge of rich spiritual energy in the room. He could tell that the beasts were feeding Calista with their energy. Whatever was happening, it was all related to that. Besides, these two would never hurt her.
"It’s fine. They are hers. She will be fine now!"
However, Madam Fischer didn’t think so.
Seeing those two, her tears were already streaming down her cheeks, thinking to herself that they were all doomed.
Fortunately, Hayes brushed his brother off, walked towards her and held her arm to balance her.
"Son ... this ...."
"Mother, it’s okay. She will be fine. They are very gentle beasts!" Hayes said in comfort though deep down in his heart he was cursing his god sister for not telling everyone in advance just how scary Blackey was.
Who would have thought that he was scarier than Whitey?
Meanwhile, Calista didn’t mind what was going on around her. With the spiritual energy being refilled, she started gaining her energy back.
Ma Susan saw that quickly. Since the midwives were still scared to go back to Calista, she mustered her courage and walked to the bed.
She didn’t believe that these two would cause her any harm. Surely the two heads simply turned briefly to look at her before shifting their attention to Calista, whose expression was becoming ruddier.
Seeing Ma Susan in position, the midwives knew that the danger was no more. Although they were scared, they also braved themselves and joined Ma Susan. With all of them gathered, the delivery resumed from where it stopped.
This time, no one tried to stop anyone from leaving the room.
The more the merrier.
