Calista clicked her tongue irritably as she looked at the shameless three who were sitting in front of her, with gifts spread all over.

Did they think that she could be bought with presents after making her angry?

She raised her chin arrogantly, thinking to herself that they didn’t know her well.

There was absolutely no way that could happen.

However, as if reading her mind, Faith tore one of the wrapped gifts and exposed what was inside.

As soon as she saw it, Calista’s eyes lit up and her hands automatically moved on their own, snatching the item from Faith’s hands.

Faith’s lips curled upwards as she looked at the other three as if saying, ’I told you so.’

Meanwhile, Madam Fischer and Ma Susan, who were watching the drama from the beginning, couldn’t help but chuckle faintly, amazed at how fast Calista was at changing her spots.

Calista at this moment had completely thrown away her earlier assumptions and madness.

Why shouldn’t she accept the gifts which were given to her, especially when they were so cute?

She held a beautiful white baby dress with pink lotus flowers embroidered on it. It looked so pretty that all she could think about was having a baby girl.

It was easy to dress them up, unlike boys.

In the ancient era, there were no machines to tell the baby’s gender. Besides, she didn’t trust the doctors to tell her that. She didn’t want to have a misconception about her baby. Whatever gender she gives birth to, she will accept the child wholeheartedly without discrimination.

Seeing that she loved the dress, the three friends started competing, unwrapping the gifts and Calista snatching everything that she saw.

As a result, on Calista’s side, she was having clothes, female, male and unisex baby clothes. In other words, whatever child she gave birth to, there were abundant clothes for the baby to wear.

They were even considerate to bring many nappies. There weren’t any pampers in this world except for nappies. Of course, the nappies depended on how rich the family was, as they would determine the fabric to be used.

These friends brought her nappies made from bamboo and cotton. The nappies made from these fabrics easily absorb quickly and trap moisture well. As for drying issues, wasn’t there why there were many nappies and not just a few?

Seeing the numerous gifts, Calista quickly forgave these three for startling her like that earlier, a smile was plastered on her face, making everyone in the room wonder just how thick her skin was to change fast like that.

Unfortunately, Calista’s thick skin wasn’t something to be underestimated.

"Friends! It’s good to see you again!" she happily said with her eyes squinting and her lips curving upwards into a beautiful smile, rendering everyone speechless.

’She is truly a piece of work!’ that’s all the friends could think about as they looked at their shameless friend pretending as if she wasn’t the one causing a scene earlier.

If she doesn’t accept the black pot, who can dare say that she was the one causing a fuss?

Thankfully, they were all used to Calista’s antics and, since they were friends, how could they not know their other half very well?

It didn’t take long before there was endless laughter in the room. After not meeting for a while, they all missed each other and couldn’t help but share juicy gossip.

With the arrival of the three women, there was more laughter at the manor and these three were assigned to the main courtyard’s room since Calista couldn’t send them to the guesthouses. They were all taken by the Fischer family.

Calista was happy to see her friends honestly. She felt touched knowing that they came in advance to accompany her in the hard times.

They didn’t come empty-handed but came with a lot of gifts. It wasn’t just the baby clothes or maternity clothes, but food and a lot of medicine to help her through the hard times.

The feeling of having other people care for her made Calista feel that all the effort she had put in all this time was worth it.

If she had known that interacting and stop acting like a shrew could bring her so many wonderful people by her side, maybe she would have toned down and pretended to be cool.

But could that be even possible?

Some people are simply too much that even if a person wanted to change for the better the moment they open their mouth, all the hard work would be lost.

It wasn’t like she wanted to be shrewish at the start. These women forced her. Just to protect them from the attack of Whitey and Blackey lest they get infuriated with the targeting, she sacrificed her reputation.

There were benefits and disadvantages of how she raised herself. Nonetheless, she doesn’t regret it. Rather, she would work hard in the future to create more relationships and surround herself with more people.

In return, she would treat them well and return the favor several folds. She didn’t dare be stingy.

With her friends’ arrival, Calista had more people to accompany her and share advice with and with the majority of the women she knew who experienced childbirth, her days weren’t that lonely.

She kept on absorbing knowledge, following doctor and midwife instructions to the tee, preparing for the day that all hell would break loose.

Days were flying, and people were anxious, especially Orson, who knew that the baby was being naughty again and continued to make its way down.

He didn’t know when Calista would enter labor, and it worried him badly.

Thankfully, there were people around her, so whatever happens, she won’t be alone.

Especially when he was looking at a letter informing him that the person, he had been waiting for would be arriving latest in a month.

What was he going to do once that time arrived?

His head started throbbing as he thought of that issue.

However, despite the struggle, he still needed to think about the issue and solve it.

And the best way to do so was to seek advice from the people he was learning to trust lately. With them, he could never go wrong.

However, he didn’t expect that as he was on his way to seek those people. A cry of desperation suddenly sounded.

And when he heard the commotion and the maids calling out anxiously, "Hurry up! Madam is going into labor!"

’I am about to become a father again!’ he thought to himself as he sped towards the main courtyard.
