With his wife by his side, Sir Henrich turned to look at Calista, the host, with a smile on his face and introduced, "Madam Solace, this is my wife, Lady Henrich. I brought her with me today. I hope that you don’t mind!" a bit apologetic to Calista. After all, it wasn’t like he was told to bring a plus one to the banquet.

When the interaction was made, Calista beamed at Sir Henrich before looking at his wife, who didn’t seem to like her that much.

There was a certain hostility seeping from her which she didn’t like.

It was a familiar kind. The kind she always felt when those other women who thought that she was going to take their husbands always emit.

She might look like a vixen and act misappropriately at times, but didn’t these people understand that people have taste?

Even homosexuals didn’t just get together with any woman or man that they saw just because they were into them.

"It’s a great honor to finally meet you, Lady Henrich!" with a smile on her face, Calista directed her words at the other.

Lady Henrich smiled at Calista as she responded to the greeting. "The pleasure is mine as well. I have heard so much about you!" gritting her teeth inside she thought of all the good and bad news she had heard about Calista.

Seeing her in person proved to be a mistake. Seeing a person from afar, a lot of details could be ignored, but once face to face like this, then everything would easily get spotted.

She had always known that Calista was beautiful and a force to not be underestimated. She had heard so many women complaining about how she was a vixen and how her pretty face could easily make a man lose his soul.

She didn’t believe most of it. After all, does that even make sense?

However, seeing her in person despite her belly being so big like that. That face of hers still remained perfect, making even a woman like her get butterflies in her belly.

Although she understood that the other person was innocent, she just couldn’t help but develop a strong dislike for Calista.

Unfortunately for the sake of maintaining relations, so that one day her husband would be transferred from this place, she could only pretend to be magnanimous and likeable.

Calista beamed at Lady Henrich not taking her seriously about her hostility and went further to introduce Madam Fischer to the couple.

Then there was her son. Although she wasn’t certain that her son was in love with Calista, he was a good match. How dare this old lady assume the worst for Calista?

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.

Calista actually didn’t care about the councilor’s wife’s thoughts. The person she had been dealing with was the councilor himself. As for the wife, she can think whatever she wants as long as she doesn’t cross the line.

Once she does that, then all hell will break loose, and all connections cut off.

It wasn’t like the councilor was bringing her money into the pockets. He was the one benefiting the most here.

With the guests’ arrival, Calista dumped the two to Ba Susan, who had arrived when she was away.

The food was almost ready, and she needed to change to get ready for the banquet.

While Calista and Madam Fischer were gone, Ba Susan was entertaining the guests just like how Calista wanted it.

"It seems that a lot had changed in the time that I wasn’t here!" while looking around, Sir Henrich said, his tone tinged with emotion.

Ba Susan, upon hearing that, chuckled heartily as his eyes squinted with indescribable happiness.

"Indeed, things continue changing here daily. There are more people than usual as well!"

"I have noticed that. Could they be the reason why she is hosting another banquet?"

"That’s true. I have noticed from the way you were looking at the lady that you must know her!"

Upon hearing that, Sir Henrich looked at Ba Susan with an appreciative gaze. He might be from a small village, but his instincts were spot on.

"Um. I know her. I saw her from a distance ....." he started explaining how he knew of the other.

Ba Susan, listening to that, nodded seriously as he connected the dots.

As long as the councilor understood who they were dealing with, he wouldn’t have to worry about much.

Calista hurriedly changed her clothes before joining the others in the living room.

When she arrived, Ba Susan was having a wonderful conversation with the councilor. Meanwhile, Madam Fischer and Lady Henrich were talking about something as well.

She didn’t feel like eavesdropping on the conversation, so she just acknowledged everyone before heading outside to the kitchen to see how far the progress was.

When she got there, she smiled with happiness upon seeing that the food was almost ready.

"Start serving!" she ordered the servants after checking everything.

With the go-ahead given, the servants started bringing the dishes to the gazebo where lunch was going to be eaten.

It was going to be a mini banquet with close people only. As for the villagers, there was no need to invite them.

Calista didn’t return to the house but sent a maid to go and call everyone to the gazebo. Meanwhile, Hayes, Orson and Jeremy, who had been out, also arrived and joined her in the gazebo as they all waited for the four people inside the house to join them.
