Chapter 230: Chapter 230: ANOTHER BANQUET 4
The next day, the roosters crowed and ushered another wonderful day for everyone.
In Calista’s manor, the maids were busy running around, doing their chores and preparing for the day.
It was finally the day of the banquet, and unlike all the other banquets held at night, Calista chose to hold the banquet during the day. That way, the guest could still travel back to their homes in time.
With all the preparation being done at the manor, on the road, a carriage was making its way towards the Cropville village.
Sitting inside were Sir Henrich and his wife. They had been invited to the banquet and since Calista had done so much to help him in many ways, he didn’t reject the invitation but decided to come.
"I wonder what occasion she is celebrating again!" his wife wondered out loud as she let out a sigh.
Sir Henrich chuckled lightly upon hearing his wife’s words.
"It should be something good. Besides, if we can afford it, celebrating life, in essence, is a good thing," he responded to his wife with a smile.
The wife looked at him with a helpless smile on her face and responded, "I just worry that she might attract too much attention. You know how the tallest tree always gets targeted."
How could he not understand his wife’s worries?
He held her hands in his and looked at her dotingly, saying, "Don’t worry. Nothing will go wrong with her. Besides, what she is doing, it’s not like other people had never done it before!" reassuring her.
Upon hearing that, she heaved a sigh of relief, thinking that her husband’s words were right.
Just like he said, what Calista was doing wasn’t something new. There were other people out there doing it already. It could be considered her just following the trend and having enough capital to start such kind of business.
Seeing that his wife understood, he patted her hand affectionately and changed the topic.
Meanwhile, back in Cropville village, with the servants preparing the meal, Calista was on her way to the factory.
She didn’t spend much time there since she trusted the people she appointed. Besides, with Hayes and Orson frequenting that place often, she didn’t see any need to go and check it out.
She didn’t dare think that anyone would be so daring to try tricks. That person would be seeking death.
In order to exercise, Calista didn’t take any carriage but was walking using a cane the sculptor recently made for her.
Due to her laziness about walking and with how heavy she looked, the sculptor without many things to do found it suitable to make a cane for her.
She just received the cane yesterday, and she fell in love with it. Maybe it was because the cane itself looked like a wood version of Blackey coiling around a tree branch. She loved it so much.
On her way to the factory, she wasn’t by herself as Madam Fischer was tagging along, carrying Whitey who seemed to be getting along with the other.
As for the girls, they remained at the manor, following Ma Susan to help with the cooking. The girls somehow fell in love with the kitchen and with someone keeping an eye on them, Calista could only put down her worries.
In a while, Calista and Madam Fischer were at the factory, and the staff looked busy. From the gate, she could smell the aroma of the dried food being cooked, and it made her salivate.
"Cali, when do you plan to sell some of these things?" as they walked into the factory, Madam Fischer asked curiously while looking around.
Talking about these things, Calista already made plans for them. So, once she heard the question, she didn’t hesitate but responded.
When Madam Fischer heard about the plans, she nodded with satisfaction. At least she knew what she was doing.
Calista toured around the factory and checked every single workshop, making sure that everything was working orderly without any issues.
Seeing the progress and wonderful products these people were providing, her heart was filled with warmth.
As long as they continued to work this hard, she was going to increase their wages. Hard workers deserve to be rewarded, after all.
When the factory was checked and confirmed, the two started returning to the manor.
On the way, some villagers would look at Whitey from a distance but none of them still dared to touch him.
Fortunately, none of them dared to mention anything about distance, Whitey, lest Madam Fischer freaks out.
When she was near the gates, she spotted a familiar carriage making its way towards her.
When Madam Fischer saw it, she looked at Calista, her eyes filled with inquiry.
Upon seeing the other’s curiosity, Calista smiled faintly at her before looking at the approaching carriage and said, "That should be Sir Henrich. Our councilor," providing details regarding the incoming guest.
When Madam Fischer heard that, it suddenly dawned on her that this guest was an official and one that Calista had invited. She couldn’t wait to see if this person was worthy or not.
She had dealt with a lot of officials, all thanks to her husband. With a glance, she could tell if the other person was good or bad.
She just needed to see the other.
Calista and Madam Fischer waited for the councilor by the gate and moments later, the carriage arrived and the people on board alighted.
Calista looked at the familiar face she hadn’t seen in a while with a smile on her face and said as soon as the other was on the ground, "Welcome, Sir Henrich!" welcoming the other passionately.
Sir Henrich smiled at her in return and responded, "Thank you," before stretching his hand to the carriage.
Upon seeing that, Calista’s eyes twinkled with a mysterious glint before returning to normal.
Sir Henrich helped his wife out of the carriage, and Calista watched the whole process with a smile on her face.
’Just look at other women’s husbands and then at me?’ she felt wronged as she was fed with dog food for no reason.
How could these people act all affectionately in front of a person who failed twice in love?
How heartless!
