Chapter 229: ANOTHER BANQUET 3

Chapter 229: Chapter 229: ANOTHER BANQUET 3

Hayes and Orson both guarded Calista, and she didn’t mind having these two men by her side.

In fact, she didn’t even care about them, as she was busy talking to Madam Fischer and the girls all the way to the river.

When they arrived, the maids meticulously set the chairs and mats for the girls.

Calista was no longer allowed to fish. The maids pretty much knew that much. However, she could at least survey the waters before taking a rest.

Madam Fischer followed her, keeping a closer eye on her while the girls sulkily sat on the mat watching from a distance the river.

"How do you know that the spot is good for fishing?" Madam Fischer, who had never fished in her life, asked curiously as they walked along the river bank.

Calista, who knew nothing of that fact, smiled mysteriously as she looked at the other for a moment before responding amusedly, "I am a lucky person. As long as I feel that the spot is right, then there would be fish. As for other things, let us leave it to the fishing enthusiasts."

Madam Fischer’s lips twitched furiously upon hearing such an answer but quickly calmed herself down. ’People have secrets. Why ask much?’

In the end, she tagged along as Calista mysteriously looked for a spot. After a while, Calista turned her head to look for someone and she found the people she wanted.

"Drop the baskets in those spots!" Calista instructed the maids who were holding the fishing baskets with the baits already placed inside.

The maids were quite proficient at this, so once the instructions were sent out, they hurriedly pulled their dresses and pants before stepping into the water to set the traps.

When the baskets were set, there was nothing for Calista to do anymore, so she and Madam Fischer both returned to the campsite.

While waiting for the baskets to be full so that they would return home, some snacks and beverages were taken out of the picnic basket and it was served among the masters.

It was a wonderful moment that brought everyone together. One would raise a topic and they would all delve it into deeper. There were different opinions but above all, they enjoyed their time. It was very fulfilling.

The baskets were full in an hour. When Madam Fischer and Jeremy saw the full baskets, they both looked at Calista as if she was some monster.

Calista was already used to that, so she shamelessly boasted as they walked back to the carriages, "I told you. I am a lucky person! How can fish disdain me?"

Upon hearing that shameless boast, the girls giggled as they found this mother their father had found for them very amusing.

With her by their side, they would never feel lonely at all.

The group returned to the village, and they attracted quite a lot of attention on the way.

The banquet was going to be held the next day and not on that day, so they weren’t rushed.

When they arrived home, Calista, having nothing to do, decided to pull Madam Fischer, Vaani, whom she didn’t like, the girls, and the mammies, to clean the fish.

They were in the village; shouldn’t they experience such a life?

When Vaani was summoned to the manor, honestly, she was scared. She was afraid that Calista wanted to clear accounts with her and that thought scared her.

However, when she was given a basin with live fish flipping their tails and a sharp knife, her body shuddered with fear.

What was this?

She knew how to slaughter people and fight, but a fish? She had never dealt with one before.

Some people did that for her from a young age, so how could she know how to deal with fish?

However, when she saw the elegant madam and the young mistresses staring dazedly at the fish and the merciless Calista who was determined to let them do the job, she could only surrender to her fate.

The men watched the scene with amusement, especially the two sons who had never seen their mother anywhere near the kitchen.

They couldn’t help but whisper to each other.

"Brother, do you think that mother will do it?"

"Hehe, if she doesn’t do it, can you see her losing face to Calista?"

"That’s true. Mother is very competitive. I guess we will be seeing Mother doing a lot of interesting things in the future!" Hayes’s brows arched amusedly at the thought of that.

With the fish shared among all females present at the manor, Calista didn’t hesitate as she started dealing with the fish.

Seeing her mercilessly killing the fish and separating the heads, the females could only set aside their fear and follow in her footsteps.

"As women, we need to learn to do these things ourselves. What if one day the maids aren’t there? With how spoiled most men are, do you think that they would prepare ingredients for you?" as she dealt with the fish, Calista couldn’t help but say.

The others couldn’t respond but meekly dealt with the fish as they were forced to listen.

Until all the fish was done, Calista successfully managed to give everyone life lessons. By the time she was done, she was even prepared to let these people cook. How could they not know how to cook?

Women should be independent. Just because they have money didn’t mean that they should rely on servants all the time.

What if one day all servants are gone? Would they starve to death?

Seeing the chilling gaze Calista was giving the females, Orson who had stayed with her the longest couldn’t help but feel sorry for his daughters. However, he didn’t dare intervene. It was for their good that she was willing to do that to them.

She would make a great mother.

As a result, he regretted it as he watched his daughter crying moments later in the kitchen, being taught how to cook the fish that they had cleaned and treated.

Watching them cry like that, his fatherly heart nearly couldn’t take it, but that chilling gaze from her was enough for him to know what to do.

In the end, he and the two brothers decided to go and visit the factory and see what the employees were up to.

At least there, they could do something productive and not get stressed.
