A Love Reborn: Finding Romance Twice In One Lifetime
Chapter 228: ANOTHER BANQUET 2

Chapter 228: Chapter 228: ANOTHER BANQUET 2

When John’s story ended, Calista continued. However, she didn’t divulge much about her marriage with Orson.

"Anyway, that handsome guy out there, as you know, is the father of my baby and my ex-husband. One day, he just packed his things and left. I will never let myself remain married to a man who leaves me like that. So, I annulled the marriage."

When Kiara heard of what transpired between Calista and Orson, she was baffled. It was like a story from a novel. Even from the city where she came from, she hadn’t seen such drama before. For Calista to be so courageous and audacious to annul marriage just because the husband didn’t return in months, she could see that Calista was strong-willed.

If she says that she is going to do something, no one and nothing will sway her. Her guts were simply too extra for her.

"Now that he is back, have you ever considered getting back together?" Madam Fischer, who worries about her son falling for Calista, couldn’t help but ask.

Upon hearing that, Calista chuckled mysteriously as she caressed her stomach, her thoughts in wonder.

"Ummmm .... That? Honestly, I haven’t thought about it, but who knows what the future is like. If he still makes my heart flutter, I might consider it. That’s if he is going to stay by my side forever. I won’t allow a man who would ditch me just because he feels like it.

If he doesn’t, then if another one makes my heart flutter, I don’t mind getting married again. It’s not like anyone can stop me from having that happen!" she replied with a smirk on her face, imagining what the future would be like under such scenarios.

She might have closed her heart off in the first few months after Orson’s disappeared, but lately, she couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like having a large family. A husband, kids, grandkids and the like.

If she could have it, why torture herself by spending the rest of her life with her child only? She might as well give it a try and see what might happen.

Wasn’t life full of trials and errors?

Listening from the outside were the three men who were on horses. Rather than chatting amongst themselves, they all found out that eavesdropping on what was happening in the carriage was much fun.

When they were talking, Orson’s expression was dark, as if he had been pushed into a bucket of charcoal at some point.

Hayes, on the other side, was filled with mixed emotions, wondering to himself if only he had convinced Calista to go with him. Maybe she wouldn’t have married such an older man and suffered so much.

Just how lonely was she to choose such an old man when she was that young?

Meanwhile, Jeremy’s thoughts were quite different. At intervals, depending on what Calista was saying, he could feel the energy fluctuating and there was some murderous intent at some points.

He couldn’t help but wonder what was her background. And why did she hide in such a remote place?

Rather than believing that she settled for love in such a backward village, he would rather believe that she just wanted to go into seclusion and become a hermit.

However, his interest in her kept on increasing, but not in a romantic manner.

As much as having a powerful woman as part of your circle was, a person like Calista wasn’t someone who could be controlled.

Others he could try but her. It would be a waste of time. He didn’t want such a calculative person anywhere near his brother.

Having her as the god sister was enough. As for the rest, let Orson, who seemed to be head over heels for her, find a way to snatch her back.

The carriages finally arrived and the people in the carriage didn’t see time flying at all. They were engrossed in the stories; they found themselves being told that they had arrived.

The mammies helped Calista off the carriage carefully, and Orson’s worried eye was on her.

When her two feet landed on the ground, Hayes hurriedly walked towards Calista and held her arm familiarly. Calista didn’t chase him away as she had gotten used to him doing that.

Besides, Hayes was very careful and sturdy when handling her.

Orson’s fists clenched as he witnessed that. Although he had been seeing it for a while, it just never settled well with him every single time he saw it.

Jeremy seeing that, his lips curled upward in a smirk as he thought to himself, ’It was a good thing coming to this place. I can eat melons for free!’ very amused by the things he was seeing in just a few days.

Madam Fischer had gotten used to this bizarre sighting and was no longer that shocked when she saw her son acting faster than the mammy, but just let him be.

Maybe after this, he would treat his wives with care. She would turn a blind eye and hope that her son would improve for the better.

Emma and Gemma both alighted from the carriage and hurriedly ran towards Calista.

The two girls stopped a distance away from her, afraid of bumping into their younger sibling, and respectfully called, "Mother, are you feeling well?" fearful of how the journey might have caused unrest to Calista.

Calista looked at the two girls and found them much more pleasing than their father. She couldn’t help but respond, "Um. I am feeling well, thanks, my dearies. And yourselves? Are you feeling, okay?"

The two girls grinned sheepishly as they held the hems of their dresses. "We are feeling well, mother!"

"That’s good because now we are going to walk for a while. Make sure that you don’t stray away from the path. You hear me!"

The girls hurriedly nodded and promised to be obedient along the way.

With everyone on their feet, the journey to the fishing spot started.
