Chapter 222: Chapter 222: UNTITLED

A few days later, Calista was at the market street checking the restaurant as well as the snacks shop. The girls had accompanied her, so she wasn’t lonely.

These girls were curious about everything, and she had fun explaining things to them. They were like a blank canvas which could be filled with so much art.

As for Orson, she didn’t know where the man was. She didn’t care honestly. Lately, he had been spending too much with Hayes.

She didn’t know what those two were up to. As long as they didn’t fight every time that they met, she was very grateful.

After walking around, Calista sat down under an additional gazebo recently built for people to relax during the day when it’s hot or raining.

It was that time of the year when farmers were busy with their friends and the sky was being generous.

It could rain at any moment, but not to the extent of making people worry about floods.

Because of the rain, business was a bit slow, however, that didn’t affect the sales. There was too much profit to be made, and that was already fine with her.

With the girls accompanying Susan and watching the chefs cooking, Calista sat in the gazebo with a notebook in hand and a maid massaging her swollen legs.

Who would have known that one day she would suffer like that as well?

Even her advantages seemed to be lost to nature.

Thankfully, she had many maids to help her with work. She just didn’t know when the maids she was promised would arrive.

Could it be that Hayes’s family objected and nothing was coming?

She was even promised a midwife. Was that a lie?

If they didn’t arrive this week, she was going to find a midwife and get her ready, just in case. She didn’t dare continue to delay this matter. Getting surprised by unexpected labor would kill her.

She didn’t dare risk her life.

Noting how serious that matter was, she opened her notebook and started writing things down.

Calista was busy writing in her notebook and at times be seen biting the pen lost in thoughts but no one disturbed her.

They simply checked to see if she was doing well from a distance.

When everything that she wanted jotted down was done, feeling a bit sleepy, Calista knew that it was time to go home.

She had been out for a while now, and it was time to rest.

Preparing to get on her feet, she couldn’t help herself but look in the direction of the road to Silverbroke town.

Looking in that direction, she spread her senses, trying to find if there was something good. It was time for the carriages to start arriving.

She just wanted to know if the number of carriages would be many.

As she searched for that, she noticed that the number of carriages coming seemed to be a bit many. Could it be that the business would fare well today?

Thinking like that, a smile blossomed on her face.

Knowing that it was going to be well, she tapped the maid to help her stand up.

When the girls heard that Calista was ready to go, they bid Susan farewell before rushing to where Calista was.

"Mother, are we going home now?" the girls asked eagerly.

Calista nodded her head as she walked slowly, replying, "Um. If you want to continue playing, then do so. You don’t need to come with me," very sincere about this.

She had realized that the girls were a bit too over-attached to her. And that was bad. They were kids, and they had the right to play. By following her, they might not have the chance to play as much as they wanted. So, she wanted to give them that chance.

"But ....." Gemma seemed conflicted as she looked at her.

Calista, seeing that, reached out her hand and ruffled the girl’s neat hair, making it a mess.

Seeing the messy hair, she burst into laughter before saying, "You are kids. Play a bit and when you are tired, you can come home. Don’t always follow me. I am going to sleep. At your age, I was playing," lying with a straight face.

At their age, she was dying of work; she didn’t dare dream of resting even for a second.

When the girls heard that, they beamed at her before saying, "Then we will play a bit more. When we are tired, we will return home."

Calista nodded, finding no problem with that. Guards were watching the girls everywhere, so no harm would fall on them. There was nothing to worry about.

"Um. And don’t get hurt!"

"We won’t!" the girls enthusiastically said before biding Calista goodbye.

After that, the girls happily returned to the restaurant. Seeing them like that, she shook her head helplessly before moving slowly again.

On her way, the carriages were also approaching.

Seeing them, she wasn’t fazed at all but simply gave a glance before continuing her way.

She crossed the road and stepped into the road which led to the village.

On her way to the village, she came across Hayes and Orson. These two men must have finished whatever schemes they had been plotting behind her back.

"Cali, you returning home already?" Hayes exclaimed upon seeing her.

Calista tiredly nodded her head without saying a word.

Hayes scratched his head as he looked at her before turning to Orson.

Without saying a word to him, Hayes shifted his focus back to Calista and said, "Do you mind returning to the road?"

Upon hearing that, Calista, who was planning on ignoring these two and just returning home to sleep, frowned as she looked at Hayes.

Hayes could see that Calista wasn’t pleased at all; he couldn’t help but look at Orson for help.

Orson seeing Calista after to flare up cleared his throat before saying, "Cali, Hayes family should be arriving today if no problem occurs. And if everything goes well, they should be arriving any moment," explaining the matter to her.

When she heard that, her eyes suddenly lit up. She had been having a headache because of this matter but with his family now here; it meant that the people she wanted must have come as well.

Why sleep when she can see the people who would be serving her?

She rolled her eyes at Hayes, finding him such a coward. She didn’t even say a single thing, and yet he didn’t dare finish what he was supposed to say. Since when did they start finishing sentences for each other?

"Fine. Let’s return!"

And that was the answer that Hayes wanted to hear.

He smiled at her as he walked towards her and in a moment; he was holding her hand ready to turn her around.

Orson followed, filled with envy at how easily Hayes could just hold Calista without the other flaring up.

He didn’t dare try something like that. She would skin him alive; he was very certain of it.
