Chapter 221: RECONCILIATION
Chapter 221: Chapter 221: RECONCILIATION
"As someone I used to love a lot and the father of my child. We can still be friends and live harmoniously. If you want to look after your child then you are welcome to do so. However, if you want to get back together, that is something that I don’t see myself doing.
I have been hurt too much by love, and I would rather lock my heart for now. We can be friends and raise the child in peace. Just don’t force me to do what I don’t want to do," she added and her tone was very apologetic.
She had heard of his love confession, but just because he thought that way didn’t mean that she could just jump into his arms as if nothing happened.
Her heart was still in pain and she would be a fool to believe and jump straight into a relationship when the situation was like this.
When her daughters get well, won’t he be returning to his place?
Why must she be a masochist by giving her heart openly to someone who was going to leave?
She won’t even know when she will be able to see him.
With everything that she had seen ever since he came, he was someone who held a high position in the family or organization that he was in.
Such a person wouldn’t be allowed to live outside for long.
This time, she won’t do anything with any expectations. At the same time, she won’t jump into a pit of fire, which might burn her until there is nothing left.
Orson was expecting such a response, so he wasn’t that much disappointed, rather he was happy that she accepted his apology, apologized to her and even mentioned making friends.
That was the first step to reconciliation. Who knows what might happen if they continue to be friends?
The future might change and effort would be needed.
Orson pulled her in for a hug and didn’t say a word, but just felt her embrace for a moment.
As he hugged her, the baby started kicking, startling him in the process.
"This ...." He said as he pulled back, his gaze fixating on the part of her belly where the baby had just kicked
"Haha," Calista on the other hand laughed merrily upon seeing his reaction. That was the first time he was feeling his baby kick. She could imagine his shock.
Hayes watched enviously as these two acted as if they were the only ones in the room. Knowing that he had watched enough, he decided to slip away before he got noticed.
The two didn’t notice that someone was missing, rather they even forgot that he was there in the first place, as they only had each other in their eyes at the moment.
"Is the baby always that energetic?" Orson excitedly asked after getting over the shock, thanks to Calista’s laughter.
Calista nodded as she brought his hand to her belly to make him feel it.
"It’s not that frequent, but when it happens, it would go on for a while."
"Then, it doesn’t hurt you?" he asked concernedly.
Calista shook her head with a smile. "I am stronger than you think!" she responded.
With the way this baby was so energetic, if she was weak, she would be spending the whole day in bed crying.
Thankfully, her physique was quite good, so even if the baby feels like doing martial arts, she won’t be that much hurt.
Orson heaved a sigh of relief when he heard that. He couldn’t help but spew several things that she needed to take into consideration.
Hearing him entering his doctor’s profession side, Calista’s lips twitched as she bashed herself for starting the topic. Now see what he was at.
However, deep down in her heart, she enjoyed listening to him saying all that. At least now, she could see for herself his worry and concern for both the mother and child. Wasn’t this what she was looking for all this time when he arrived?
’This isn’t bad!’ she feels very happy for the first time just being around Orson. She was greedy for more.
A girl can be greedy. That was allowed.
She was human, after all.

With the reconciliation in effect, Calista no longer felt awkward around Orson. With the girls gradually getting better, one day, Calista took the girls to the forest.
Planning on baking cakes for the girls and some for sale, she thought of the orchard she enclosed but didn’t go to for a while.
They all carried baskets and headed for the forest.
Calista didn’t have Orson tag with them. There were some places where men weren’t even needed.
Besides, Blackey was in the forest, so there was nothing to worry about.
"Mother, are there many fruits in the forest?"
"Um! There are many. You will see them pretty soon," Calista replied the girls with a smile on her face.
Gemma and Emma, who had never seen a fruit tree before despite eating fruit, were truly enthusiastic. They couldn’t wait to see the place.
Getting nearer to the place, Calista lifted the array from a distance. That way, they would spot the trees at a distance. She didn’t want to expose too much about what she could do.
A moment later, the girls were rushing towards the trees with excitement. Seeing them merrily running around, Calista couldn’t help but find this moment quite memorable.
"You can pick all the fruits that have fallen. They can all be used," Calista instructed the girls who were gawking at the fallen fruits, not knowing what to do.
Unlike other fruits which rot after falling, these fruits didn’t do so. The array not only protected the fruits from being seen but also from rotting. These fruits could last four seasons without pressure.
As long as she was frugal, she could wait for those fruit trees that were recently planted to grow while she ate them.
When the girls got the go-ahead to pick the fallen fruits, they didn’t hesitate and started doing so.
The maids followed suit while Calista sat on the chair as she watched all that unfolding.
Her belly had gotten heavier and crouching wasn’t something that she loved doing.
Sitting in a relaxed manner as she watched the girls competing to pick fruits, Calista felt that this life wasn’t bad at all.
’This time, I might have gotten lucky. The stepchildren I gained aren’t as willful as the previous ones!’ a smile hung on her lips as she thought of that.
She had it bad during John’s time. Thankfully these girls weren’t vipers but good ones.
Of course, no one knows how they will be in the future, but for now, all is well.
Besides, if they weren’t filial and good to her, didn’t she have her own child?
Calista’s eyes flashed as she caressed her belly affectionately.
Even if others gloat with their children this time, she would be delivering hers in a month or so.
Let’s see who they would make suffer.
