Chapter 213: Chapter 213: BLACKEY 2
As she headed towards home, Arnold and his gang, the kids who fished for her all the time, ran in her direction.
Seeing them like that, she wondered if there were any issues with the fish at the river. Otherwise, why would they come to her in such a hurry?
On the other side, Hayes stepped in front of Calista, blocking her from the kids. What if they failed to stop in time and bump into her?
He was afraid of anything happening to her pregnancy and at the same time, that sleeping snake on her wrist. Who knows what it was capable of?
These were kids, unlike the adults.
Prevention was better than the cure.
Thankfully, the kids stopped a distance away and looked at Calista with sparkling eyes.
"Good afternoon, Madam Solace!" the kids all respectfully greeted her.
Calista pushed Hayes away wondering what kind of protecting game he was playing right now. Who would dare hurt her in this village?
Only Benita back then was so daring and bold.
"Hello, kids. Is everything okay?" she asked concernedly, a bit worried that a calamity might have happened at the river.
Fish can disappear as well. It was possible.
Arnold grinned shyly as he looked at her, nodding his head before answering, "Everything is fine, Madam Solace."
Upon hearing that, Calista heaved a sigh of relief before asking, "Then what’s wrong?" her curiosity now piqued.
What were these kids up to?
However, when Arnold’s response came, Calista was at a loss for words.
"This ..... um, is it possible to see your pets, Madam Solace?" Arnold nervously asked as he looked at her with anticipation though.
As soon as she heard that, her mind went blank for a second and when it came online, in her mind she was like; ’are these kids well in the head? Aren’t they scared? Did their parents even know what they wanted to do?’
Although her pets weren’t always aggressive, the fact that they were monstrous and existences that couldn’t be taken lightly was true.
The adults at that time, she saw them fainting, and some spoiled themselves. It was simply scary.
She still remembered the first time she came face to face with the pet’s kind. The shock she got was too big. It took her a very long time to get used to the fact that such animals do exist. And when she realized that they could shrink, she loved them to death.
Unless it was necessary, they would maintain their cub state.
So, to have these kids be so bold to want to see those two, she was at a loss.
"You ... aren’t you scared that they might eat you or do something?" she asked the kids as her brows rose.
Arnold grinned as a smile blossomed on his face.
"Hehe, they might look scary at first, but after some thought, they aren’t that scary!"
"Oh~ why do you say so?" she couldn’t help but be curious.
Arnold looked seriously at her this time as he responded, "If they were that bad, then we wouldn’t all be alive in this village. If they want us dead, what will stop them? Besides, I trust you, madam. You are a good person, so how could your pets be bad?"
It was very simple when you think about it.
How many years did she live in the two villages? A very long time and yet not even once did anyone notice or suffer because of them. If that woman hadn’t provoked her, then maybe they would have never known that she had such beasts by her side.
So, after a deep thought, Arnold analyzed the whole scary situation and concluded.
As long as she doesn’t cause any harm to the madam, then the beasts won’t come after them. Besides, who would dare do that now?
Feeling curious about such beasts, and how they look up close despite seeing Whitey several times before, he gathered his friends and went to Calista to ask her in person.
Calista felt touched as she listened to Arnold. Kids could even think about this, so why did the adults act as if they would be swallowed any second?
Without her permission, the two weren’t allowed to even eat a chicken. So how could they attack human beings?
Suddenly, she felt like changing the villagers’ perception of the two kids of hers. She didn’t want them to fear them that much.
If they continue to do so, then who would work for her sincerely without fear leading them?
Would her child have other kids to play with?
The two would be with her until she was in the grave. They were part of her and would always remain that way.
With the kids’ words today, Calista became determined.
She was going to make the villagers like her two sons no matter what, and Arnold and his gang would be her mouthpiece.
She looked at them as her lips curled upwards, her liking for them increasing by several folds.
"Kids, Whitey is not here but Blackey is. How about you meet him first?" she told the kids as she looked at them playfully, wondering how they would react once they knew that Blackey was around.
When the kids heard that, they flinched with fear for a second before their eyes were filled with determination. She didn’t even know what kind of mantra these kids were chanting in their minds to strengthen themselves like that. But whatever it was, she liked it.
"This ... where is he?" Arnold, being the leader asked, nervously as he looked around.
Blackey was the snake, and there was no snake on the ground or any hissing sound being heard.
If it wasn’t on the ground, then was it possibly on her again?
As he thought of that, he couldn’t help but look at Calista’s hands, which were on her bulging belly.
Last time, the little snake coiled itself around her wrist.
If it could do so back then, what could stop it from doing so again?
