Chapter 209: Chapter 209: MY HEART HURTS!

"You knew that she was pregnant, but did you even ask about how she is? Rather, you flaunt the love of your daughters in front of her. Don’t you know how sensitive pregnant women are? Calista is unlike other women in the village who can take whatever is given to them. She was spoiled from the day they learnt that she was pregnant.

She is an ancestor, and every groan she makes would make these people’s hearts drop. That is her first and probably last child, and it means so much to her. And yet you, the father, didn’t even bother to show concern for the child or the mother. Even if you don’t love her, can’t you pretend at least?" Ba Susan felt his temples throbbing the more he continued.

It wasn’t a matter of how priceless the medicine was. He had seen how selfless she was in these past months. She had spent quite a lot of money in the village without asking for compensation. She used a lot of gold to make their village the way it is today.

How many people were treated at the village’s clinic? There were so many and yet they didn’t spend much on their health.

Even a fool could see that she wanted something from Orson, and yet this clueless man’s thoughts were elsewhere.

At this rate, he might as well stay in the village forever, otherwise, he won’t be getting his children.

Feeling infuriated at looking at him, Ba Susan didn’t bother to continue with Orson and stood up and left.

He might as well get some fresh air and find a way to coax his wife later.

As for Orson, the children were fine, and that’s all that matters.

Orson suddenly found himself alone and his mind digesting what Ba Susan had just spoken.

Honestly, he didn’t think about that in that way at all. He just thought that she wanted to make things difficult for him and keep his daughters’ hostage.

But now, looking at what the chief had just said, he was indeed a bad person. Very heartless to not consider the feelings of Calista.

’Ah! I have a long way to go. I guess I will have to wait for her for a while and see how to salvage this matter!’

***

When Ma Susan found Calista, she was lying inside the blankets, sniffing as she cried and, on the pillows, Whitey lay there and on the other side, the slightly grown snake was coiled as its tongue flickered.

And these two were looking in her direction when she walked into the room.

For a moment, she nearly ran away recalling how dangerous these two were, but when she thought of how never once did, they attack anyone from the village, her heart was at ease.

Unless you bring too much harm to Calista, these two would never make a move. She was even sure of that.

With that confidence in her, she walked bravely towards Calista and the two ignored her as they laid their heads on the pillow, minding their own business.

Ma Susan heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing that.

She approached Calista and sat on the bed, looking at her.

"Dear, are you fine? Do you want me to chase them out of your house? You don’t have to do what you don’t want if it hurts you," she softly coaxed as she looked at the other.

Calista removed the sheet covering her teary face and looked at Ma Susan. The second she did so, tears started streaming down her cheeks.

"Aunt, it hurts!" she tearfully said as she patted her stuffy chest. "Here, it hurt so much I feel as if I am being choked. Tell me, why do I deserve this? What crime did I commit for me to be treated this way?" chocking as she poured out her grievances.

She might have acted like a tyrant out there, but facing Orson directly, and listening to his love for his girls, affected her so much. Never once did he think about their child.

She understood that the girls were sick, but what about her child?

Didn’t the baby deserve a greeting? What about her?

How about asking for a sincere sorry?

He just erased everything just like that. Did he know how much she suffered because of him? The tears she shed, the pressure, the stress and the mocking behind her back when he left.

Even if he wanted to get back at her for what she did to him, didn’t he also use her? He got what he wanted from her, so why did he let her go through so much pain and humiliation when he returned?

And above all, where was her sorry?

If only he had said that, maybe things wouldn’t have reached this point.

Ma Susan dejectedly sighed as she felt sorry for this child. That was the first time she had seen her in such a state. The last time Calista cried was when she was mourning her first deceased husband. Even when she was kicked out of the village, she didn’t cry a single tear.

When people were mocking her and she was fighting with them for years, she would get upset but shed tears. She never showed that side to others.

And yet, because of a scumbag of a man, she was crying.

Ma Susan didn’t know what words she should say to her to make her feel better.

She was completely angry right now, and her words might piss Calista off even more.

Thinking about it in such a manner, she spread her arms towards Calista. Who thankfully understood what she meant?

Moments later, the two were hugging and Calista was crying her heart out.

Ma Susan coaxingly patted her back without saying a word. One slip-up would cause her to be infuriated even worse.

She didn’t dare trigger her.

Calista cried until her sobbing grew weak.

When Ma Susan checked her, the other had fallen asleep and her shoulder was numb.

However, she was happy seeing her sleeping. At least after a nap, she would wake up feeling much better with her mind thinking clearly.

Ma Susan wiped her face with a towel before tucking her into bed. As for the two sleeping next to her, she just pretended as if she didn’t see them.

When she was done, she left the room, rolling her sleeves and ready to fight it out with her husband.

Unfortunately, when she reached the living room, she only found that annoying scumbag.

Recalling how badly Calista was crying because of him, she coldly said to him, "Cali is sleeping. Please leave. You can come back tomorrow!" chasing the other away without any politeness.
