Chapter 208: Chapter 208: HOLDING HIS DAUGHTERS HOSTAGE
Lastly, the lights. That was probably the simplest request, though it might not seem to be the case.
She got a light from Faith as a wedding present, and it was only suitable for one room. What about the other rooms?
What about when the batteries are out of power? What would she do then?
She was too lazy to find them herself, let Orson find them for her.
"If I don’t get these things, I will not hand your daughters over to you. In other words, I will treat them well and make sure that they become healthy and live until old age. However, if you don’t pay everything that I have listed down, then you, my dear Orson, you can only see your daughters from afar!" with a sly smile on her face, she tauntingly explained her demands to him.
Orson’s fists clenched as he listened to that. He didn’t think that she would be so vicious to add that to her demands. She even dares to touch the children?
Ba Susan looked at Calista with his mouth wide open, speechless at what she was saying.
"You .... Can you leave the kids out of it?" Orson asked with his teeth gritted, his tone pleading.
Calista’s lips rose into a smirk when she heard that.
"Leave them out of it? Hehe, aren’t we all doing this for them? I can’t trust you, Orson. We indeed started on the wrong foot, but you should have had some bit of decency in you when you left. A simple apology letter would have sufficed, but alas, you didn’t even show me that courtesy and just left me.
Since you love your kids so much, I will keep them hostage for you. Until you pay for everything, they won’t be going anywhere. And trust me, unless I want it this time, no one can take them from me. Try me if you dare!" she coldly said as she caressed Blackey’s triangle head.
Orson’s fists loosened as he looked at the snake. He wasn’t sure what it could do yet. He had seen Whitey transforming but Blackey he wasn’t sure.
When it comes to snakes, they were the most dangerous. Either it would transform into a large snake or worse, a dragon. With how black it was, maybe it was a dragon and if that was the case, who could fight it?
He could tell that she was deadly serious and not joking. However, the demands were a bit too much, even for medicine.
He had never charged his patients such crazy prices before.
"Cali, this ... isn’t the price a bit too much?" Ba Susan asked after getting his bearings, looking imploringly at her.
Calista clicked her tongue as she adjusted her sitting posture, not taking to heart what Ba Susan had just said. "Too much? How could it be too much? This is the price of healing a disease that can kill generations. This is my medicine and I can do whatever I want with it. You know what he did to me. I am willing to treat his daughters. Why can’t he give me what I want? It’s not like we have a relationship now. Do we?"
Ba Susan helplessly sighed as he heard that. He looked at Orson, whose expression looked pretty bad.
"Cali, at the end of the day, he is still your _" Unfortunately, he didn’t get to finish before Calista was on her feet, Whitey fully awake as he growled at him.
Baam!
"Uncle, I respect you so much like my elder, but don’t you dare let those words leave your mouth!" she angrily yelled at him, her hand holding her waist as she felt that naughty child kicking her probably protesting.
"Cali, I _"
Calista looked at Ba Susan as she raised her other hand, her eyes very cold as she continued, "If he doesn’t like the demands, then take your girls and wait for their fate. If he wants my help, then get me what I want. The sooner you get them, the sooner you will have your girls," before taking a breather for a second and added, "and don’t dare try sneaky moves. You can check them all you want but anything silly, hehe, dear, you should understand that there are still a lot of surprises you wouldn’t even want to see!" before walking away, panting heavily with fury.
The two were left in the room silent, not knowing what to say.
"What just happened?" Ma Susan, who had just heard Calista’s yelling, rushed into the room looking flustered, her eyes looking for the angry pregnant woman but she couldn’t find her.
She looked at her speechless husband and wondered if he had pissed her off in some way.
"You tell me, who angered her again? Didn’t I tell you that she doesn’t need any stress right now? Have you forgotten that she once fainted because of too much stress? Do you want to see her lose that child?" Ma Susan angrily yelled at her husband.
Without even asking what had happened, her husband was the one at fault. If it wasn’t him who wanted to mediate between the two, could Calista suffer that badly?
Ba Susan, getting scolded badly for the first time, felt sullen. How was that his fault?
He didn’t get to finish the statement before she erupted.
Who would have known that she would be that sensitive?
He just wanted to help.
Unfortunately, it backfired.
Ma Susan, seeing her husband not uttering a word, scoffed at him before glaring at Orson, whose expression was even worse.
She clicked her tongue at him before hurrying towards Calista’s bedroom.
She should be there.
With the women gone, Ba Susan turned to look at Orson and angrily asked, "You .... Just what is exactly in your head? You were in the wrong, but you didn’t sincerely apologize. You boldly brought another woman who caused a fuss in front of Calista. Don’t you know her temper well? you think that she gained the title of the most shrewish woman in the village for naught?" the more he asked, the angrier he became.
