Chapter 198: Chapter 198: DECORATING THE SHOPS
The next day, Calista woke up with a foreboding feeling that something bad was going to happen.
It was something that usually came to her once in a while, instincts, but when she saw the shining gold coin under her pillow, all that was quickly forgotten as the love of money overtook the curiosity of what might go wrong.
With the addition of money in her pockets, Calista’s mood was the best, and it made everyone at the manor wonder what kind of dreams she had for her to be like that.
After a satisfying breakfast, Calista left the manor with Hayes walking. Exercising was good for her, so the lazy lady needed to walk.
It was the day when they were going to decorate and design the wine and snack shops. She wanted to take part in it, and at the same time, see for herself how well the restaurant was doing.
Lately, there were new staff added to the kitchen, and Susan wasn’t cooking anymore but managing the restaurant. And the lady was pretty good at her job. Calista was very satisfied.
Cooking was tiresome, and letting her best friend and sister continue suffering with the heat, she didn’t want that. That was why when the business got better, Calista hired more women and had Susan teach them how she loves her food to be cooked before promoting her.
By learning how to manage this restaurant, in the future, when she opens her own restaurant or any other business, she will have experience.
Of course, she didn’t mind Susan working for her forever, but people are ambitious and she didn’t mind ambitious people at all, as long as they didn’t take what was hers.
When Calista went to Liresa City, one of the things she did was buy ornaments for the shops, packaging bags and several things.
Furniture, wine bottles and meal boxes. All of these were exclusively made by the numerous carpenters and potters she hired.
She didn’t hire them to let them play around while taking her money, so she had them do that for her.
When she returned, the furniture for the two shops was done. So, what remained now was to fit them according to the way that she would see fit.
When she arrived at the market street, the restaurant was already open and Susan was as busy as ever.
Seeing her so concentrated, Calista didn’t want to disturb the other and simply walked to where she was needed.
The first shop that she was going to deal with was the snacks shop. This shop didn’t require much from her and she felt that doing it first would give her plenty of time to decorate the wine shop later.
With so many hands on deck and with her guidance, the decoration of the snacks shop started.
For the snack bar shop, Calista consigned furniture such as small tables designed for two to four guests. There were also stools, racks, a display cabinet, and a counter.
The display cabinet was for special snacks which couldn’t be trusted to be left in the cabinets such as cakes or fruits. They were easy to pilfer and barely made a sound when being picked.
People could see what was being sold and if they liked it, let the person at the counter give them what they wanted.
the racks would be where the snacks, especially the bagged snacks, would be displayed for customers, just like how they do in the modern era.
The snacks can be eaten at the shop, or they can take them away for now. In the future, when the market street becomes famous, there won’t be any dining inside. Only snacks would be sold, which customers can take away. So why waste the space she might use to add more racks and put more snacks?
To provide a wonderful ambience for the shop, she even hung a painting she meticulously drew. It was more of a food chart, with all sorts of fruits drawn on it alongside their names.
That chore didn’t take much time, and that gave them more time to deal with the wine shop.
For the wine shop, Calista provided the wine racks, bar cabinets, stools, chairs, and tables for two to four.
The wine shop was slightly bigger than the snack shop. Just like the snack shop, she wasn’t planning on making people drink here. She wanted it to be a place for them to buy their wine and drink it at home.
Before guesthouses were built in the village, she didn’t want to open a bar. Maybe in the future, she can let others do that and face the hassle of doing so while she continues to make wine and beer.
Nonetheless, to accommodate the wine lovers, preparing several tables for them to sit and lounge, didn’t seem that bad. At least before they return to their homes, they could buy more and support the business.
In the wine shop, another painting was added, and this time, it showed the wines which the shop would be selling. It was more of a price list, rather than a painting.
Decorating the wine shop didn’t seem to be that hard once they started on it. It didn’t take as much time as she thought it would be.
When they finished, the restaurant staff were busy cleaning the restaurant and nearly done with their chores.
Seeing Susan free now, Calista found a shade and dragged Susan with her to have a chat.
The two friends didn’t have much to chat as they used to have before, so once in a while, catching up was a must.
The two friends and sisters began chatting merrily, and they could be seen laughing and clapping hands in excitement.
It could be seen that their bond was still there and whatever they were both talking about, it was quite interesting.
Hayes, watching the two, couldn’t help but smile affectionately.
It really wasn’t that bad to follow Calista all the way here.
He had never been so at peace the way he had been in the past few days.
Next time, he should bring his mother and grandmother. Maybe being here would make them tone their fierceness a bit.
They were simply too hot-headed and tempered.
