Chapter 194: THE MISUNDERSTANDING

Chapter 194: Chapter 194: THE MISUNDERSTANDING

Meanwhile, Calista had no clue that the old couple had spiced up a story and was now in the tenth season.

She just knew that getting off the carriage was tiresome and didn’t want to get off at all.

However, the old couple was waiting for her by the gate. So how could she just enter the gates while leaving them there?

So, she was forced to alight despite being too lazy to do so.

As for the coaxing, after getting used to it for a week, would it even matter where she was being coaxed?

Her skin was very thick and so was Hayes. The two of them had no slight mercy for those who surrounded them at all.

When Calista’s feet touched the ground, with Hayes holding her hand carefully so that she might not exert too much force, she beamed at him. Very satisfied with his service.

Her decision to make him her brother was the right one.

As soon as she stepped on the ground, she turned to look at the old couple with a smile on her face. However, just looking at them, her expression suddenly froze.

’What the heck are these people thinking about?’ she thought to herself as she saw the way they were looking at her and then at Hayes.

Could it be that .... They couldn’t be possibly thinking something extra, could they?

She didn’t want to believe it but seeing how they looked at Hayes warily, her eyes suddenly squinted as laughter broke out of her lips, startling the couple who were lost in thoughts and Hayes who was completely oblivious of what the couple were doing.

In his mind, he was waiting for Calista to introduce them to him. After all, as soon as he told her that a couple was waiting by her gate, she told him that they would be stopping by the couple.

When he heard that, he had an inkling of who the couple might be, but without the introductions, he could only stand by her side like a good boy.

He didn’t dare show his real nature in front of elders at the first meeting. He wasn’t that bold. At least, wait for a bit before going all out.

However, why was Calista suddenly laughing when no one said a thing?

Was there something funny that hadn’t seen?

However, as he pondered over that, he saw the elders’ flushing faces, the kind that only happens when someone is either shy or embarrassed.

Did something happen in such a short time? He wondered.

On the other hand, the second the couple saw Calista laughing as she looked at them like that, they both knew that very moment that they had misunderstood and Calista was aware of their thoughts.

If there wasn’t anything embarrassing like that, they didn’t know what else would.

After laughing her brains out, Calista finally stopped when she heard the meowing of Whitey who came through the gates running towards her.

"Meow. Meow. Meow!" no one except her could understand what those several meows were for.

However, all of them simply thought of one thing: the kitten had missed its mother so much and now was just happy that she was back.

Calista, seeing Whitey, beamed brightly at the kitten before she opened her arms wide and what happened next nearly shocked the life of the three people who were next to her.

Without any warning, Whitey jumped from where he was straight into Calista’s arms, who smoothly embraced him with ease.

"Cali .... You!" Ma Susan yelled at Calista, her chest heaving as she looked at Calista, fear in her eyes.

Calista, seeing that her action shocked the others, looked at them guiltily.

She was too excited to see Whitey. She forgot that there were other people around. Since crouching in front of the old couple would make her get yelled at, her mind instinctively opted for that. Who would have known that she had never done something like that in front of them before? Now look where it led them.

"Ahem. Ahem!" she cleared her throat guiltily as she looked at the other and said, "Auntie, don’t get angry. It’s bad for your health!"

When Ma Susan heard that, she wished that she could find a stick and teach Calista a lesson. Unfortunately, she couldn’t. She could only look at her husband for help.

However, with the resigned expression on his face, she knew that it was pointless.

Seeing that the couple won’t be continuing with this, Calista hurriedly spoke to make amends, "Sorry auntie and uncle. I will not do it again. I will be more careful!" admitting to her mistakes right away as she caressed Whitey’s fur, coaxing the feisty thing that wanted to cause trouble for the chiding she was receiving.

Hearing her admitting her mistakes without making their lives miserable, the couple decided to give her face. After all, there was still a guest with them whom they hadn’t learnt of who he was.

Calista, seeing the couple acquiescing to her, beamed inwardly as she concocted what to say next.

Knowing their interest in Hayes, she decided to end the introductions at the gate before she walked inside.

She could see a lot of enthusiastic villagers eager to know who Hayes was. After all, when had they never been curious?

So, with a smile on her face, Calista used one hand to drag Hayes next to her, making Whitey, who was in her arms, hiss at the other.

Hayes looked at the small kitten, who looked feisty and didn’t seem to like him that much when he hadn’t done anything yet that he might point at and say that’s why Calista’s cat didn’t like him.

’What is the deal with this kitten?’

Because of his interest in the kitten, he completely forgot that he had just been dragged by Calista, and her intimate action once again was seen by the crowd.

The minds of these people now were working overtime, and it was just chaotic.

Thankfully, Calista settled that problem once Hayes was next to her.

As for Whitey, he won’t do anything without permission.
