Chapter 192: Chapter 192: HAYES DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM

She beamed brightly at him as she continued, "As you can see. Calista is nearing her delivery date, and she doesn’t have anyone who is trustworthy by her side. Do you think that it’s possible to help her find some nannies, midwives, maids and a bit of security? You don’t have to worry about money. She doesn’t lack it and neither do I. This is her first baby, and we can’t let anything happen to it!"

Leeshay was worried about this baby as if it was her own. As a mother of two and having been friends with Calista for years, seeing her having a baby was a dream come true. Their families could be connected more in the future. What if their children take a liking to each other and marry each other?

Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

Besides all that, she just wanted people who knew what they were doing to be by Calista’s side. She trusted her own people, but they were hers. She wanted Calista to have her people, the kind she could nurture and not the kind she would be wary of.

They were friends, but some things became hard to deal with, especially with slaves and servants. Suspicions always rise, and that won’t be a good thing for either of them.

She didn’t want their relationship to be thwarted because of that issue.

When Hayes heard that, his eyes lit up even further. He might not have followed the path his family wanted, but there were many things that he could do.

His parents wanted him to join the army, but he ended up not taking that path even when he returned home.

He trained to keep himself fit and also protect himself in case of danger. His passion was never in fighting or learning books. He didn’t have the patience to be a scholar. As a result, he became a merchant, resulting in him being one of the richest merchants in the capital at a young age.

Being a merchant made it easy for him to travel around and search for Calista. Fortunately, this time, he made it big.

Helping Calista was not a big problem, he just needed to send a letter back home. His subordinates and mother would take care of the problem.

Although his mother never spoke about it, he knew how much she was grateful for Calista saving him. If she knew about her situation, not only would she be happy, but she would lend a hand fast.

Knowing that Calista was pregnant, she would be at ease. Knowing that he won’t be eyeing her. It was hard to raise another man’s child after all.

With his family’s reputation, he wasn’t that bold to defy them. His father would definitely cripple him before he could say a word. He didn’t want to put Calista in hot soup when she wasn’t even interested in him.

With all that in mind, he readily agreed to lend a hand.

When Leeshay and Calista heard that, they both beamed.

After all, there was something that Hayes spoke, whether because he was too excited and let it slip, but the two ladies who knew money so well heard it correctly.

"Don’t worry. I will find her the best people I can find. And it’s at my expense!"

When someone else was paying, how could there be no smiles?

With Hayes volunteering to cover all costs, Calista had a beautiful sleep that night.

After managing to save her money, her dreams were sweeter than before.

Since there was no more need for Calista to buy slaves and was waiting for the ones coming from the capital to come to her, Calista didn’t have a reason to stay in the city for long.

So, in the days which followed, she was busy buying things on the list she wanted for the restaurant, her home and the factory.

What was better was how Hayes would volunteer to pay for some of her things now and then. As a result, her expenses were once again halved, making her so happy.

The more she looked at Hayes, the more she liked him. How could she not like him?

After the shopping ended; it was finally time for her to return home.

Hayes wasn’t planning on returning to his home and was eager to follow her to the village.

Calista didn’t object to that. She only brought Frank with her, as she was hoping to have more people returning with her once she was done. However, with Hayes’s interference, she didn’t have people to send her back.

Now that Hayes was going with her, the security was even top-notch. She didn’t need to worry about anything at all, though there was no need to worry.

It wasn’t like she couldn’t deal with small issues. Nonetheless, she believed that if there was a way to evade something, then follow that way and not cause unnecessary trouble.

Since there was a way for her which didn’t allow her to overwork herself, and then follow it until the very end.

Life was too long to risk one’s life this early.

With all preparations done, the day of departure arrived. And once again, Leeshay shed tears as she bid her farewell.

"I will definitely come and visit before you give birth!" Leeshay promised as she waved at her.

Calista grinned at her friend, feeling warm all over. "Um. You better come. If you are late, you won’t be one of the child’s godmothers!" and playfully said as she stuck her tongue.

When Leeshay heard that, she furiously shared her thoughts with Calista, making the other shed tears of joy.

Hayes, watching the banter between the two friends, felt envious. He should have found her early, but thank goodness, she had people around her who cared.

It put him at ease seeing all that.

When the two friends finished with their farewell, the carriages and horses started moving.

Hayes was a man, and boarding a carriage during the day when accompanying someone like Calista didn’t sit well with him.

He would rather ride the horse during the day and rest in the carriage at night.

Since Calista wasn’t his wife, woman or sister in common sense, he couldn’t ride with her in a confined carriage. That would ruin her reputation and he didn’t want something like that happening to her.

People’s tongues were wagging already because of the child in her belly. He wasn’t bold enough to add another scandal to her.

On the way to the village, the carriages weren’t in a hurry. To accommodate the pregnant Calista, the trip once again took longer than the two days which were the supposed duration of travel between Silverbroke town and Liresa City.

What was important was that they arrived in town safely and rested there for a night at Faith’s house.
