Chapter 186: Chapter 186: ANOTHER FAREWELL

The next day, Calista woke up feeling refreshed and with a reward of several silver coins as well.

Starting a day on such a good note, she believed that everything would fare well and she couldn’t wait to have some bountiful harvest.

After breakfast, Leeshay, being a worrywart, decided to take her to the clinic she once visited when she was in the city the last time.

The time she visited doctor Jill in the city was the first and last time she was seen by one.

When Leeshay heard that, she was obviously worried and in her panicked state, ordered the servants to ready the carriage.

As a result, the day that was supposed to be spent looking for qualified slaves ended up being a day where she was forced to sit in that clinic full of medicinal scent.

Fortunately, she wasn’t alone as Leeshay and Diana accompanied her.

When Doctor Jill saw her, he was quite surprised. After all, he never saw her again after that visit.

When he listened to Leeshay complaining and tattling on her friend about what Calista had been up to, doctor Jill worriedly looked at the pregnant woman.

Calista knew that there was nothing wrong with her. There was even fetal movement, and the baby was very obedient. He or she didn’t like causing a fuss. So why was everyone acting like this?

Thankfully after the checkup, doctor Jill diagnosed that she was well and there was nothing wrong at all.

At the rate that she was taking care of herself, the baby would be born full-term. She just needed to keep up the good work.

With that said, Leeshay felt at ease but still asked the doctor so many questions, that the man nearly fainted with dizziness.

When they left the clinic, Calista couldn’t stop laughing as she found the situation pretty fun. It was the first time she had seen a doctor feeling very relieved when the patients left. Imagine the kind of trauma the old man must be in right now.

"Hmph! You are laughing at me like this? Wasn’t I doing this for you?" seeing Calista laughing, Leeshay scolded the other.

How dare she laugh like this when she was the one who caused all this mess?

Diana shook her head helplessly finding the interaction between the two very calming.

With the visit to the clinic, the ladies were no longer in the mood to go anywhere else, so they returned home.

That very night, as they watched the beautiful stars outside, Diana suddenly announced.

"Sis, I will be returning home tomorrow!" her announcement was so sudden and unexpected, it caught Calista off-guard.

"You .... You are already leaving?" Calista asked dumbfoundedly as she looked at the other, her voice a bit shaky as she did so.

Diana exhaled deeply as she answered, "Um. There are some things that I need to do at home. But I promise that I will return after New Year. I still want to buy merchandise from you and also see you. I will make sure to come before the baby is born too!" her eyes lit up as she recalled that it would be around that time when Calista was expected to give birth.

Calista heard that a smile appeared on her face, her mood getting uplifted.

Although Diana can be hard to handle at times, she has gotten used to the other. With Dina by her side, she had received so much help. After being together for some time now, she also got attached. And knowing that the other was leaving again, just like the others, made her feel sour for a moment.

But the knowledge that she would be returning before she gave birth or at least in January, she was happy.

Knowing the return date was better than being in the dark. She didn’t even know if Mammy Lena and Lisa were faring well on the road right now. So having at least one person she was certain of, it no longer felt as if she was being deserted.

"Okay. I guess we can meet then. You aren’t allowed to lie to me!"

"Don’t worry sis. I will not lie to you."

"That’s good!"

"That just reminded me. Sis, my parents wanted to meet you. Do you think they can come with me when I come?" Diana nervously asked as she looked at Calista, her heart thumping wildly, afraid of the answer that she might receive.

Calista froze for a second, digesting what she had just heard. It’s been ages since she saw that couple. She didn’t think that they still wanted to see her even after so many years.

But taking a closer look at it, it didn’t seem to be bad for her to see them. If they come, it means more people to accompany her. Besides, they have helped her greatly in acquiring the factory machines. So, hosting them now felt like a good idea.

"Um, sure. I won’t mind. They can come!" after sorting out her thoughts, Calista agreed to Diana’s request.

When the other heard that, she looked ecstatic, glad that it all worked out in the end.

The three ladies had so much to talk about. If it wasn’t for Calista feeling sleepy, they might have spent a lot of time outside.

Unfortunately, the pregnant lady’s sleeping spells were in effect. They could only bide each other farewell and retire to bed.

***

The next morning, before breakfast, a drowsy Calista wearing a warm cloak was swaying standing at the gates as she watched Diana boarding the carriage.

In order to cover more distance, it was always for the best to travel very early, and that was what Diana and her team were doing.

Unfortunately, Calista who promised to send Calista off, could only reluctantly wake up in the morning, drape on a coat and follow the others outside to watch Diana leave.

Diana seeing the state Calista was in, stifled her laughter as she found her very cute and fun.

Fortunately, she understood what was important. So once everything was ready, she bid farewell to Calista and Leeshay before leaving.

Only when the carriages were a distance away did Calista drag her feet back to the house where she threw herself on the bed and instantly dosed off.

Leeshay seeing that, shook her head helplessly as she walked towards the bed, where she covered the sleeping beauty with the quilt.

After tucking in the other carefully, she silently retreated out of the room and ordered the maids to not make any noise before going to her chambers.

Since she had woken up already, it was hard for her to sleep again.

She might as well find something to do, praying earnestly for Calista to wake up early and accompany her.

Unfortunately, her prayers weren’t heard.
