Chapter 182: Chapter 182: GETTING BUSY AGAIN 3
With the people assigned to the workshops, the next thing to be done was to sign the contract. Everything was made simple, with the thirty of them given six months’ probation. As long as they passed this period then they would be eligible for a permanent contract.
In these six months, they would also check with themselves if they can continue with the job that they picked for themselves. If they can’t do it, they can also switch to try more skills.
She wasn’t worried about others stealing her skills. Even if they steal these skills and give them to someone else. Would that person have a lot of money to compete with her?
Besides, it would be a waste of resources to compete with her. It wasn’t like she would collapse if she didn’t work or do this.
If it wasn’t for repaying the villagers, would she have put herself in such a sticky situation in the first place?
She wasn’t that idle.
So, she got the thirty of them to sign the contracts with their names written down as signatures and their thumbs stamped as well. Having a double guarantee was a must.
People were born scammers and can shock you when they reveal their true selves.

With the number of people not adequate, Calista once again found herself busier than before.
Notices were sent to the other seven villages and since the news had already spread before that she was hiring people, these people seemed to be ready before she even announced it.
On the second day after announcing that the outsiders can interview and have a chance at getting jobs. Long queues could be seen from the temporary learning hall, all the way to the main road.
Facing such a situation, Calista could only come up with a temporary situation; interviewing fifty people per day. On the same day, she will confirm whether they pass or not. With few people, the job would be easier.
At the same time, those who couldn’t get interviewed were given number cards and told the day that they could come for their interviews. This way, they won’t have to waste their time traveling for hours for nothing.
With that system put into place, the village retained its quietness, with only a few people remaining to get their interviews done.
This process alone took nearly two weeks, as there were too many people to see and few people with the right qualifications she wanted.
Whenever she hired someone, she would put them under the care of the appointed managers and let the managers tell them more about what they were required of them once they started working.
At the end of the selection period, Calista managed to hire one hundred people in total, with fifty from her village and the rest from the outside. And this number excluded the people she had already hired previously.
with more than half of the staff being from the outside, to make it more convenient to get the job done, Calista encouraged those who could move into the dorms to do so.
they can return home at any time as long as they can come to work on time.
So, the majority of them decided to move in as they waited for the day to start working.
At this moment, it was November and Calista was now twenty-seven weeks pregnant with the belly getting bigger with each passing day.
In the past three weeks, it’s been hectic for her, but thankfully she managed to finish it all.
With everyone hired, the people who should have moved into the dorms started doing so and Calista since it was the first time that they were doing something like this and they hadn’t received their salaries yet, Calista provided food for everyone. Enough to last a week while she waited to have a sit down with everyone and have a chat.
Sixty-six workers moved into the dorms, with forty of them being women and the rest, men.
Calista settled the women in the other dorm and the men in the other. In this era, the two genders didn’t mix that easily. And since most of these people were married, letting them share the same space didn’t seem to conform with the customs at all.
She didn’t want to be pointed out by society when all she wanted to do was help the people.
For what can be avoided, Calista wasn’t one to cut corners.
On the next day, Calista went to the dorms to have that chat she had been meaning to have with everyone else.
Although they had discussed the basics before signing the contracts, there were some things she felt that needed to be emphasized again. So that in the future, they won’t have clashing opinions. She didn’t want to work with people who assumed something else when she meant something completely different.
On this special morning, everyone was nervous, wondering what the boss lady wanted to say.
Who didn’t know about Calista’s temper?
They were afraid that something must be up and they didn’t know anything about it.
Unfortunately, this time, they wronged her.
As soon as she was seated, with a huge bamboo umbrella covering her from the heat, Calista looked at the people she hopefully would be working with for a long time to come in the future.
"How are you all?" Calista casually asked as she looked affectionately at everyone.
"Good morning, madam Solace!"
"How are you feeling?"
Calista smiled as she received a good response from the crowd.
"I am faring well. Thank you for your concern!" she said smilingly as she clasped her hands, ready to move a step forward.
"You must all be wondering why I decided to meet you all this morning when you were supposed to be working?" with a playful smile tugging on her lips she stated.
"You must have a reason!"
"It should be something very important!"
The responses once again came, making her smile at how positive everyone was still at this moment.
"Indeed, it’s something very important. Something that I couldn’t ignore discussing with you before you start working!" she answered solemnly as she scanned everyone. "As you all know, in every household, business and even kingdom, there are laws or rules that should be followed. When you break the law, you face the consequences. And when you do good, you get rewarded. This is what I want to talk about with all of you this morning. This way, we can all be on the same page as we work together for the period to come," she added as she adjusted her sitting posture.
