Chapter 177: Chapter 177: A FAREWELL BANQUET 2

"And you, darling. Although our meeting was unexpected, I am still glad that fate brought us together. Because of you, I learnt a lot and even achieved a lot. Thank you very much for everything that you have done for me and for us. I will always remember you!" she smilingly said to Lisa.

Lisa was someone she had stayed with for nearly seven weeks, and her bond with the other wasn’t as great as that of Mammy Lena. However, Lisa brought to her several gifts she would always be grateful for.

Thanks to Lisa, her villagers would be able to have more sources of income and have their lives improved.

Lisa nodded tearily at Calista. Her heart was very warm and filled with the joy of being able to do something helpful.

All her life, everything that she had done was so that the ladies she had served would entice other women’s husbands to spend money on them. She had felt guilt for being an accomplice in wrecking many women’s marriages.

Prostitutes were deadly, especially trained ones. They were so trained to the core that making a person so broke that they would become street rats wasn’t something new. She had seen so many cases of that happening. And the fact that she helped these women achieve such a thing had always weighed on her.

But now, she was using the same knowledge and the same crafts as something good. And all of this was possible because of the madam. She saved her, took her in, and gave her a chance to showcase her skills.

On top of that, the issue that always plagued her for over eight years was finally going to be solved. If she didn’t meet with the madam, would this be possible?

What the other had done for her was greater than what she did for the other. So she felt grateful in every way. And having his banquet hosted for them, she couldn’t help but feel that she was someone.

No one had ever hosted a banquet for her. She felt very special.

After toasting to Lisa, Calista looked at Ian. The young man she held complicated feelings for but most importantly, she felt very sorry for him.

She had seen how much he loved her, yearned for her, and yet she wasn’t able to reciprocate his feelings. Although Ian didn’t explicitly confess, she wasn’t a blind person or an idiot who couldn’t tell when someone was pinning for her.

That gaze, the way he looked at her from day one, was enough for her to tell that he held feelings for her.

Just seeing someone looking at her brought her joy. At least in front of others, she was still attractive, but when she thought of how Orson just left without saying goodbye and with her money, all the good feelings got canceled.

Didn’t Orson look at her the same way?

And what did he do?

She didn’t dare trust men that easily. Besides, she knew her status well. There was no way a young master’s family would agree to her getting married to their son.

She didn’t want to be anyone’s concubine or mistress. When she marries, even to a man who is already married, she can only become a wife or a co-wife. There is no way she would taint her name by becoming a concubine.

To hell with that.

On top of that, she was carrying another man’s child. Which family would allow that in their family?

She would rather raise her child on her own than let her child be called a bastard or a wild child by others.

It wasn’t like she was desperate for a marriage.

If she wants a man, she knows where to get one. Next time, she just makes sure that she is careful and does not fall for a bastard like Orson.

But damn, where else could she find such a handsome specimen as Orson?

There will be no one else like him.

She couldn’t help but miss him a bit.

Calista seeing her thoughts going further away from the intended thoughts, quickly cut them off as she smiled at Ian.

"Ian, my dear. I just want to say thank you. Thank you, a thousand times, for everything that you have done for me and this village as a whole. If it wasn’t for your dedication, patience and perseverance, I don’t know where I would be right now.

But because of you, everyone in the village can walk with their heads held high. I just can’t thank you enough for everything that you have done for us. Sadly, you are leaving, but just like everyone else, we always meet to part, and part to meet again!"

Calista continued with her emotional speech, touching the hearts of the three who were leaving. Once she was out of words, she toasted to everyone, "I won’t continue boring everyone with my words. Let us enjoy this meal and have a great time!" with a beaming smile on her face.

Everyone raised their cups in the air and cheered, "to a great time!" smiles on their faces as they looked at each other.

Calista chuckled lightly as she sat back in her chair, feeling wonderful as she was surrounded by so many people.

If anyone had told her twelve years ago that one day, she would be like this, she would have called that person names.

How was it possible for someone like her to be this fortunate and receive so much love?

She didn’t even have dreams back then?

As long as she has food to eat and get to live for another day, she was already grateful.

But look at her now.

Wasn’t she the most fortunate person?

Only if she was lucky in love!

She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly as she thought of her two marriages.

She must be the first reborn person to be this unfortunate.

She lamented about her love life.
