Chapter 167: Chapter 167: PLANTING TREES

With so much which had happened in the past month, another project was just starting.

After fighting and spending too much energy on convincing the villagers, Calista’s orchard was finally approved.

At first, she wanted the orchard to be planted for the sake of making cakes, canned fruits, juice, and dried snacks. but with Lisa’s appearance, her plans changed and now she just wanted to do everything that she could with what was available.

The wine was a fine product, and she believed that it would become a hit. As long as the customers take a liking to the wine, the demand will increase.

Her small orchard was emptied already. So now she could only rely on external help.

To avoid such problems surfacing in the future, having the villagers plant the fruit trees was for the best.

It was going to be a long-term project, something that was going to continue giving everyone an income once the fruit trees started bearing fruits.

With all plans set into motion, everyone gathered on the mountain, ready to start planting.

For this planting session, Calista was going to use the grafting method while she waited for the seedlings she planted to grow up and be ready for planting.

She cut off the branches of the tees around the time she found Lisa for the grafting and with the other trees the villagers found while roaming in the mountains and forests.

The trees were enough to start something. In the future, she would rely on the seedlings and continue to spread the orchard far and create a lifeline for the villagers.

With everyone ready, Calista tagged along with everyone while chatting with Ma Susan, laughing and tearing up on the way.

The other villagers struck up conversations with her, and she responded enthusiastically.

Ever since she started these projects, her relationship with the villagers improved greatly and her life also improved. So, conversing with them, wasn’t as painful as it was before.

After walking for some time, they reached the mountain, and everyone started getting busy.

Calista directed everyone on how to plant the trees, and thankfully, there wasn’t anyone who was strong-headed and felt like causing trouble.

It took everyone less than an hour to plant all the trees and water them. Once they were done, they left the mountain chattering away happily.

"Now, we just need to continue keeping an eye on the trees and make sure that they adopt!" as they walked back to the village, Calista said to Ma Susan.

Ma Susan nodded, a hint of worry on her face. "Um, I will remind Ba Susan on that."

"That’s good. We wouldn’t want to suffer a loss!" Calista added as she feared having some of the trees drying up.

Losing those trees would surely be a loss and one she couldn’t recover. Where would she get another tree to replace when she wanted to expand where she already planted?

On the way, the topic changed, and the mood gradually improved as well.

With the trees planted, Calista now could concentrate on the seedlings she planted and wait for the day they get to be planted again.

After a few days, Calista was in the middle of watering the seedlings under the shed when one of the maids hurriedly came to where she was, panting with a smile on her face.

"What is it?" Calista asked the other with a hint of curiosity and puzzlement on her face, wondering what made the other like this.

The maid, upon getting the question, flushed for a bit before answering, "Madam, this, I .... carriages are heading this way!" stuttering, but with excitement written all over her face.

When Calista heard that, a glint flashed through her eyes as she thought of something.

"Are they coming to the manor, this village or just passing by?" Calista asked, seeking clarification.

Her manor was closer to the main road. So, the carriages might be passing by. But if they were coming to the village, then they might be there for her. In the village, apart from the village chief, only she could attract an entourage of carriages.

Ba Susan wasn’t capable of that as well. So that might leave just one person, her.

"Madam, it is coming our way. They seem to belong to Lady Diana," the maid excitedly elaborated, her eyes flashing with unprecedented joy.

When Calista heard that, her eyes lit up as well.

If Diana was back, then it meant that her machines were finally here. If they were here, didn’t it mean that soon she would be starting?

Just thinking about it, she put down the watering can on the ground and said to the maid, "Follow me!" ordering the other as she walked away.

The maid acknowledged the command and hurriedly followed Calista.

Calista walked to the front of the house, as well as Mammy Lena and the other maids who were curious about the entourage walked to the center of the yard.

With Calista leading everyone, it wasn’t long before they were outside of the manor and looking at the incoming carriages.

Calista closed her eyes as she spread her senses. And when she sensed that familiar aura, a smile blossomed on her face as she opened them. ’She is here!’

"My lady, is it really Lady Diana?" Mammy Lena asked curiously as she looked at the carriages that were nearing.

Without looking at the other, Calista nodded. "Um, it’s her. She is back!" a smile appeared on her face as she said that.

Mammy Lena beamed when she heard that, and Calista, sensing the other’s happiness, suddenly became sour.

’SO eager to leave that you beam upon learning about her return?’ she couldn’t help but feel irritated.

How could she have forgotten that Diana’s arrival would also mean the two’s departure from her manor?

Calista suddenly found herself no longer interested in Diana’s arrival at all.

Mammy Lena, feeling excited because of Diana’s arrival, had no clue that the lady was currently sulking about her reaction.

To her, seeing the machines arriving and watching them getting installed meant so much to her.

She was curious about how this project would go and what ideas her lady had for this project.

The outcome and final products of these projects can only be seen once the factory starts operating. So, she was very curious and filled with anticipation.

Unknown to her, her lady had misunderstood and was already in a bad mood.

It was unfortunate.
