Chapter 163: Chapter 163: I WILL SUPPORT YOU!
After leaving Lisa, Mammy Lena went to look for the lady and she found the other outside sitting in the gazebo, lost in thoughts with Whitey lying on her lap.
As she approached her, Whitey suddenly snarled at her, as if warning her about something, and she felt sour for being treated like that by a cat. But what could she do?
Her lady was probably in a bad mood and it was because of them. She was certain about it.
Calista sensed Whitey acting up again, curious to know who had offended him again. She raised her head only to come face to face with Mammy Lena.
Seeing the helpless expression on the mummy’s face, Calista pinched Whitey’s neck, warning the other to stop playing tricks and smiled reassuringly at the other. "Mammy, are you done with your discussion?" she asked.
Mammy Lena, seeing that the cat was settled and that her lady was still calm, walked closer as she responded, "Yes, we talked about it."
"Then what are your plans?" Calista asked as she rubbed Whitey’s white fur.
Standing a bit closer to the lady, Mammy Lena replied, "We decided to go to Azov once Lis feels well. We can’t let the elderly take a trip. A lot of things are at stake, so we should travel!"
’As expected,’ Calista mumbled inwardly upon hearing that feeling a bit lost at the outcome. However, she kept her cool and didn’t expose her feelings to the other.
"That’s good then. You need to prepare fully and just to be safe. You can leave when Diana’s escort team gets here. With her help, you might be able to travel safely or at least get better directions! Will support you!" Calista suggested, feeling concerned about the two’s journey.
She had never left the kingdom before or the empire itself. So having someone knowledgeable who wouldn’t cause any harm to her, and help her with this issue, would solve a lot of problems for her.
When Mammy Lena heard that, her eyes lit up as she felt that this made sense. That way, they get to stay longer again as they prepare for the trip.
Mammy Lena agreed to the suggestion and with that achieved, Mammy Lena once again found herself in the mood to work.
Without hurrying to leave anytime soon, she decided that it was time to prepare for a meal. She can’t let her lady starve, can she?
Seeing the other’s relieved expression upon knowing that she wouldn’t be leaving pretty soon, Calista found herself smiling.
"Meow. Meow!"
Calista ruffled Whitey’s fur upon hearing him meowing. "Don’t bully her. She didn’t hurt me. Besides, even if she leaves, don’t I have you two?"
"Meow. Meow."
"Yes, yes. This mother will definitely not abandon my kids and I know that you will not do that to me!" Calista said playfully as she scratched the cat’s chin.
Whitey closed his eyes as he enjoyed the scratching and Calista seeing that couldn’t help but feel that maybe she was more blessed than others.
She might not have many people around her, but those around her were genuine towards her. Some people out there were alone and even if they died, no one would even remember. They were that pitiful.
Instead of wallowing in grief, she might as well enjoy the moment she has right now and make memories. This way, one day, when she looks back to this day, she won’t have any regrets.
People meet to part and part to meet, didn’t they?
After telling herself that, Calista felt much lighter compared to before, and her smile was back on her face.
The day passed peacefully and on the next day, after breakfast, Lisa joined Calista in the gazebo.
Although she wasn’t fully healed yet, she was much better compared to before. Instead of cooping in the house, it was better to have some fresh air and recuperate faster.
Sitting across from Calista, Lisa was nervous, as she didn’t know what the other wanted to talk to her about.
Calista, sensing the other’s nervousness, smiled reassuringly at her and said, "You don’t have to be tense. I don’t eat people!" her tone was very playful, it made Lisa feel at ease.
Seeing the other at ease, Calista didn’t forget her agenda of why she called the other to the gazebo in the first place and went ahead to ask, "I heard you yesterday talking about how your matron taught you some crafts to survive. Do you mind sharing with me what those might be?"
She was curious about what Lisa knew. As long as it was something that could help her, Calista wanted Lisa to impart some of the knowledge to her people. This way, she can make use of it.
Lisa couldn’t possibly think that she would live at her house, eat her food, and use her expensive medicine for free. She wasn’t such a saint?
And in this deal, she was the one suffering a loss, and why should she bear it?
She might as well earn some interest and benefit something great from it in the process.
Lisa, hearing that question, sighed inwardly with relief. For a moment, she thought that she was going to be answering some difficult question that would put her on the spot. Thankfully, it was such a simple question.
With a bright smile on her face, Lisa replied to the other, eager to share the knowledge she had accumulated over the years.
"Madam, I was taught how to make fruit wine. I can make light wine and heavy wine. As long as all the ingredients are there, I can make wine!" she confidently shared. "I also know how to make scented pouches and soaps. I am very confident about making those."
As someone who worked in a brothel, making sure that the needs of the ladies who worked hard with their bodies to serve the rich masters and drain them of their money, knowing this was a must.
Although she wasn’t the only person who knew these crafts in places like this, knowing these was a blessing.
There were a lot of business opportunities for what she knew and knowing how business-minded the madam was. Maybe sharing what she knew with her would repay the grace she had been shown.
